Paul G. Harch, M.D. is a hyperbaric medicine, diving, and emergency medicine physician and Diplomate of the American Board of Hyperbaric Medicine. The first President of the International Hyperbaric Medical Association and a semi-finalist for the National Institutes of Health Director’s Pioneer Award, he has seen the positive effects of HBOT firsthand through the treatment of family members with stroke, dementia, and learning disability. A graduate of Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and Director of the Louisiana State University School of Medicine’s Hyperbaric Medicine Department, Dr. Harch currently divides his time between international consulting, lecturing, and his practice and research in the New Orleans area. One must respect the conscientious efforts of a medical professional who has dedicated his career to helping people heal. I first learned of Dr. Harch and hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) when researching treatments for traumatic brain injury, which often co-occurs with post-traumatic stress disorder. This book provides hope and a compelling rationale for using HBOT as part of a comprehensive treatment plan for traumatic brain injury, as well as a wide range of other medical conditions—from neurological diseases to autoimmune disorders— because HBOT reduces inflammation and promotes healing. I am persuaded to remain open to the potential of HBOT, particularly when traditional medical interventions have yielded disappointing results. This book presents a very readable overview of the applications and healing mechanisms of hyperbaric oxygen therapy that will be of interest to many.

Health is ones true wealth.Pilots and divers will relate well to the subject matter well, as will aviation and dive medicine doctors.In my opinion and experience, hyperbaric treatment is the most significant non invasive platform in medicine in many years, now it appears with significant life extending properties as well.The information about carbon monoxide poisoning, for first responders, PTSD, TBI, Neonatal and gene therapy are so significant, and in fact, in my opinion, critical.The effect of pure oxygen under pressure 1.4x to 3 ATM or above cannot be understated.Well worth reading. At a clinical level, it would be great to see Dr Harch train more clinicians, as his practice is based in New Orleans, and this level of experience and competence needs to be shared to the 'four corners' of the earth.Be careful of those marketing sports HBOT or soft shell chambers on a lower mix of oxygen. There is little to any clinical benefit in these. A good chamber needs to be professionally staffed for therapeutic use at those pressures and concentrations.It also seems a key aspect to an evidence based approach is having a cross trained neurologist / radiologists for SPECT contrast scans as well as EEG scans where someone does not want the radioactive nucleotide injection.

I'm in the process of building as Hyper Barbaric Camber using an acrylic chamber using an acrylic chamber, fabricated from such clear materials as LEXAN which is used in Motor Cycle Helmets, such as Lexan, which has, literally, saved my life in at least four instances., and can easily withstand the differential in air pressures related to the chamber itself., without the clostophorbic reaction of an enclosed space!

The book itself is an easy read, well-written, and interesting. My rating is for the content of the book.I was disappointed in the version actually shipped, though. The book had the front covered ripped off (before it was shipped). If I was rating this aspect I’d give it zero stars.
5.0 out of 5 stars A must read if you've tried all "specialists" and you're still sick.
As the author said, "When you make treatment decisions, I want you to ask questions about the basic underlying processes of the disease in question and then find out if HBOT has been shown to have beneficial effects on those disease processes. If so, then I invite you to apply Cunningham’s “Sensible Notion” and try HBOT for your condition. Then, you can add your condition to the list." Please read the book and decide for yourself. My husband had a triple bypass, had viral meningitis, statin-induced myopathy in his legs, all in the span of 2 years. He has had sleep apnea for decades as well. We are going to try it based based on an "educated guess." I read the book from front to end cover. I couldn't read fast enough. I am no doctor, but this makes sense.

I’m sure that most people who first hear about HBOT will just think to themselves, “Oh, that doesn’t or will never be relevant to me or anyone I know...” YOU, yes, you, couldn’t be more incorrect. I can’t recommend this therapy & this book enough. IF acted upon the information in this book can & will change your life & the lives of everyone around you in the best ways possible PERMANATELY. I speak from my personal experience having had just 10 treatments inside a “hard shell tank." Thank you, Dr. Harch & Virginia for getting this book written, published and for dedicating the last 25+ years of your lives to helping others in dire need of a healthier, happier quality of life.

People don't know just how delicate our brains are. Every hit, fall or bump can cause a cascade of events! Bumps gone unchecked can lead to brain issues later in your life.
