5.0 out of 5 stars Favorite book to begin with compared to others
I am so glad I got this one! I also got some other books but they are better as references. For starting this book is perfect:1. Everything you need to know to start is condensed to 23 pages. It’s concise and it’s thorough and informative, well written and well edited.2. It’s colorful and easy to read. For someone who needs to skim fast, it’s super easy to get the information very quickly.3. Pictures are amazing. Whoever illustrated this is a genius, the kids facial expressions actually match the signs which is not something you get in most books!! Part of sign language is facial expression and this book brilliantly captures it. E.g., the sign for “dog” has the boy actually looking like he is saying “here boy!”4. I will use this book the most at first, and as we add signs later will probably use the other reference books.5. each sign has “what to look for” or similar signs so you will more easily detect baby’s imperfect first tries of signing so you don’t miss it. Very very useful.I think this book goes extremely well with the Baby Sign Language flash cards by Monta Briant and I’ll be using these two things together.
5.0 out of 5 stars So helpful!
Each sign gives a helpful way to remember it making it easy to learn the signs and incorporate them into how you talk to your baby. I can already see my 6 month old watching as I do a sign and really learning! The book even has helpful tips on what to look for when your baby starts to sign back.
5.0 out of 5 stars Detailed and Informative
I found this to be one of the better books about learning American Sign Language. The detailed descriptions allow new signers a way to learn and teach their children basic vocabulary in American Sign Language. It's difficult to learn a visual, language from a book. This book is much better at that than many. Vocabulary chosen for the book are words parents will actually want to learn to sign and teach their children.
5.0 out of 5 stars Purchase for all my new mommy friends
I am a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. I love this book because the pictures are clear and the explanation is good and easy. I give it to every baby shower I go to. All mommies need to know some basic signs. Helps your child communicate early because their hands are ready before their mouths are! . Keeps frustration down too !
4.0 out of 5 stars Signing made easy
Although some of the signs are difficult, and I did have to follow up with videos, it is still a great book. It gives signs to popular songs and children’s books as well which makes forming the habit of signing easier.
5.0 out of 5 stars It is a great baby shower gift
Book is designed to teach baby sign language before they can speak. Simple signs such as more. Eat. Milk. etc. Very easy to teach. Wish I had it when my kids were babies.
5.0 out of 5 stars Very nice book for signing
Having a grandbaby and this book is great to teach a baby how to learn signing. Very sturdy book
5.0 out of 5 stars Very good illustration
These should help us teach our granddaughter a way to communicate because she struggles to talk I’m hoping she will not get so upset trying to get her point across. If for no other reason do it because you them and want to hear their thoughts and feelings.
Great book!
I love the fact that it has a section for how your baby might sign compared to what you are trying to teach them so that you don’t miss it? Great descriptions and design, would recommend!
Excelente compra
Este libro fue una excelente compra. Viene muy bien explicado como enseñar a los niños el lenguaje de señas y gran variedad de señas. Yo lo uso desde los 8 meses de mi bebé y antes del año ya habia aprendido sus primeras señas.
Amazing, every parent should read this book
I loved this book. All of the important signs and made so easy to understand. Essential for anyone trying to sign to their baby. Perfect
Easy to follow
Easy to follow and learn - you just have to keep up with it. My baby only really does poo poo, finished and today she signed pain. But it's great. She would do more if I did more .... :-/
Simple and to the point
Great book. It's not too long and it goes to the point quite quickly. There's a brief introduction at the beginning of the book and then it goes directly to the signs sections. I find the tips for each sign very useful because sometimes it's not easy to understand the sign from the picture.Looking forward to start signing with my daughter!
