I got this book as a gift, but I hope to borrow it after it has been read.
3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing…
I loved Stanley Tucci’s “Searching for Italy” and was looking forward to reading his food diary. Unfortunately I found it somewhat disappointing and a bit repetitive. Yes, he loves pasta all its forms, marinara, eggplant, etc. but it became rather boring to read. I found the pretentious tone and name-dropping a bit off-putting and got tired of reading about his numerous dislikes. There were passages that shone as he described an exquisite dining experience, but for the most part those were few and far between.
3.0 out of 5 stars i wanted to love this....
i truly wanted to love this book much like i love Stanley Tucci, Finding Italy, Taste and the Tucci cookbook. however, i was sadly dissapointed. although i could hear his lovely voice as i read the book, i was frustrated with the repetitiveness and constant name dropping. I wanted something deeper and with more recipes that i could actually recreate. That being said....i will continue to love him and look forward to his new show with National Geographic.

“𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘀.”Truly a fantastic memoir!Y’all know I’m a foodie and this is an ode to food and food lovers everywhere.I am a huge fan of Stanley Tucci (super excited for his new movie Conclave coming out later this month), and found myself absorbed in his television series Searching for Italy.Tucci loves eating, drinking, and cooking in the same easy and joyful way that l do, and this is what made a glimpse into his life relatable and interesting. Not to mention you get to see him as an every day person just living life, cooking for his family and friends, venturing out to both fabulous and horrendous restaurants, and sharing antidotes and thoughts pertaining to life in general. One of Tucci’s thoughts/questions that he posed earlier in the book asked, “What do you touch most in a day?” Now I’m not bringing this up to be kinky or gross; but instead, I’m looking at this the way Tucci did. The fact that I’m interacting more with my phone than anything else in my day-to-day life really got me thinking. If you can, grab the audiobook, since Tucci narrates it himself. I loved it!For those of you looking for a book to add to your Nonfiction November stack, grab this one and then start it in October! Now I’m off to go re-create some of his recipes shared in the book!P.S. Make sure you have at least 8 pounds of pasta on hand when you start listening to or reading this book, because you’re gonna wanna cook some up.
3.0 out of 5 stars Shameless Self-Promotion
What a great ad for Stanley Tucci’s cookware, cookbooks and TV show. How the other half eats. And name-drops. But I devoured it with a certain relish. And now I’ve started watching Finding Italy! I just wish this book had told me more about food instead of just listing menus. I liked Taste better.
3.0 out of 5 stars If you're looking for recipes, they are not in this book
The book really does just tell what he ate each day. VERY few recipes. I saw him on a morning tv show and got the impression that it would have many recipes. Not the case. A fun read but not what I was expecting.
