I have Mr Foley's other books about cocktails, and add in Fr Leo's recipes, this is a sure win! Saints for (almost) every day and a fitting hearty meal to go along with them. Not super pretentious - I have been able to find the ingredients at my local Kroger. A fun read and wonderful resource.

What a fun way to learn the history, practice your chef skills and feel blessed at the same time! It's like creating your own church service and sharing with family and friends. Its a beautiful, illustrated book. I am being divinely guided to buy the series. :)

5.0 out of 5 stars The Just Right Catholic Cookbook

Really, just right! The sacred art is lovely and the stories are well-told. Dr. Foley's voice and wit shine in this volume. The recipes are straightforward to execute and delicious! We've eaten our way through most all of the March recipes. The Straw and Hay pasta for St. Thomas Aquinas was so, so good, especially with increasing the fish to about 2 lbs. and the volume of cream sauce to match for my large and hungry brood. The recipes are clear and easy to scale up. This is not a splashy blog-style cookbook with a large photo for each step and lots of chattiness from the chef. The pages are matte, so we will see how they hold up to kitchen splashes. However, it is packed to the gills with appealing, adventurous-but-totally-doable looking dishes. The sheer size of the thing may have been the trade-off. Feasts are selected so that there are 1-2 per week, with one recipe per feast. This is probably the difference between my using and not using this cookbook. It doesn't overwhelm! I can easily build one or two special dishes into my very hectic schedule. In fact, it makes it easier to menu plan because it keeps me from falling into menu ruts, getting bored in the kitchen, and hating one of the most joyful parts of life... playing with food and crafting celebratory meals for family and friends!Highly recommend.

Nice hardcover book with good thick pages. Seems like good quality paper, the illustrations are decent, and the meals have good matchups with the saints. Some of it darker humor but they suffered and now there's a guide to feasting with them.
