Yeah, it's expensive for a basic tool...but then this thing will likely be passed down to your children. Why not spend a few extra bucks and get something nicer than your basic $15 Walmart hammer? Beautiful and functional. Only negative is the three decals they stick on there for some reason. They do not come off easily.

I purchased this as a gift!! But it has been well used and is comfortable in your hand, a good weight and well made. It has been well used and has taken everything thrown at it. The only thing it couldn't do was get some old nails, out of a barn, that were made bigger long ago.

This is a beautiful American made hammer. The metal is nicely forged and polished. The shank and head are all one piece. The design is simple, clean, and elegant. The leather handle is comfortable to hold. The balance of the hammer is very nice. It's very satisfying to swing and hits hard. I love hammering a nail with this. Highly recommended.

You almost don’t want to use it because it so nice! But i can’t wait to use it for its designed purpose. It feel balanced, grip will build over time.

Hammer is made entirely of one piece of metal, so there will be no loose hammer head flying after extensive use. That said the handle bar closest to the hammer head is shaped perpendicular and flat. that makes it harder to grasp if you want to just lightly tap an object with the hammer. Other than that the hammer is well made and should last a long time.

I lost my 40+ year old leather handle Estwing. I am glad Estwing still makes them. It will take some time for the leather to break in, but it will. When it does, it will fit my hands like a custom hammer. It functions, has balance and has durability to last.

As Advertised, No Surprises
This hammer replaced one I had for many years that mysteriously disappeared from my toolbox! So I knew what to expect and its delivered. Manufacturing looks good and nicely balanced like the old one. Leather handle looks fine too.This is 12oz hammer. I also have a 16oz with the blue vinyl handle cover. Over time the exposed portion of the 16oz hammer has oddly rusted, so it's been wire wheeled and coated with spray protectant. The new 12oz hammer has also now been sprayed to protect its finish.
