5.0 out of 5 stars Super effective and helped me quit!

Got these as my 2nd step patches and they worked much better (and cheaper) than the habitrol patches I bought at rite aid. They stick well and stay on for the full 24 hours. The only time they would peel for me is if I put them on too soon after showering and my skin wasn't fully dried, so be sure to dry off fully beforehand.

I am a smoker of about 20 years that smoked about a pack a day. I loved having one to relax, enjoy weather on the patio or with a drink. To be clear, I have never wanted to stop smoking, but I knew it was something that needed to happen. I have attempted to stop three times and I will take the time to highlight my failed and successful attempts because it is worth it. Before we start, smoking is a chemical and psychological addiction, which I think we all know. I see two factors to it. Not only are we addicted to the nicotine, but we are addicted to the habit and emotional responses that are tied to the habit.First Attempt (not successful):This attempt was a long time ago. I used Chantix and it assisted in no way for me. Personally, I don't recommend this.Second attempt (more successful):I was prescribed Buproprian or Wellbutrin. Buproprian assists with the nicotine withdraws. It took about a week to get used to the medication and it was uncomfortable the first few days like with any medication. It initially made me really tired and I slept a lot. I was also really emotional about breaking up with smoking. It felt like a true breakup because I was so attached to the habit. You feel the new chemical in your body. You smoke for two weeks while on the medication and select a hard cutoff date. I found the medication extremely helpful with curving cravings. In addition to the medication, I used a vape with liquid that contained no nicotine. I was successful with this for 6 months. HERE IS WHERE I FAILED: The vape kept the addiction to the habit and when I went out to have drinks socially, towards the end, I gave myself allowances by having a drag or just smoking one. Eventually it leads to more than one, then just one pack and finally, you are smoking again. You CANNOT give yourself allowances.Last attempt (most successful):I was already on Lexapro (anti-depressant/anxiety/10MG) this time which is also supposed to assist with the withdraws and curve cravings. I added Buproprian (150MG) again. While both assist with withdraws, I assume that Buproprian alone will work, but have not tested that with the rest of the factors I am about to list. This combo made me extremely tired where I slept all day. So I cut both medications in half and that worked in regard to the medications. If I was only taking Buproprian without Lexapro, I would take the full amount and not half it. In addition, I added the patch to it. I knew this time, no vape and no allowances. First few days: I wanted a cigarette, but didn't need one. 1-3 weeks, you minds breaks ties with the habit part (i.e.--being outside on your favorite patio, smoking after eating). It is kind of a trip, you think "oh, I need to go smoke a cigarette right now". Not because you are craving it, but because you trained yourself to. You then remember that you cannot. After 2-3 weeks, you have already replaced the habit portion with other daily habits--even if it is being in all of the same places, but with the absence of smoking.I have tested many options and read 1000s of reviews on how to stop smoking. If you don't want to spin your wheels and become discouraged, I suggest looking into the last option I listed. As a once hardcore smoker that couldn't imagine my life without it. I can say that the first couple of days are a little uncomfortable, you forget about the habit a few weeks in. I feel like the craving goes away before your miss of the actual habit. Ultimately, there is some residual. Maybe once a month, a thought pops into my head that a cigarette would taste really good right now, but it quickly goes away. It is nothing I would act on again. The residual is missing the memories of the taste.Hope this helps. Good luck!!

Dipped Copenhagen straight for 5 years, my last year I was up to a can a day of dip. I also smoke when I drink or stressed out. I just graduated college, and i worked as a bar manager so I was constantly stressed and surrounded by cigerrette smoke.I started with 21mg patches for 3 weeks, 14 mg for 2 weeks, 7mg for 2 weeks, and now I'm chewing uplease to two pieces of 2 mg gum a day if I'm stressed. My goal was to quit chew tabacco. So smoking 1 or 2 cigerrette a week when stressed wasn't considered cheating for me.Don't stop using the patches if you end up slipping though. Quiting nicotine takes a toll, and requires a lot of patience. You have to really want to quit if you want ANY quit aid to work. If you have to use the patches bc of work or other obligation, I recommend using the gum as a cheat aid if your craving/ nicking real bad.I have not dipped in over 2 months. I occasionally will smoke a cigerrette but now my goal is to quit that also. I HIGHLY recommend this product.People are complaining that the patches fall off, and this is unfortunately true for the larger 21mg and 14mg patches. Did not have this problem with the 7mg patches (I could even shower with it) .I don't see why it falling off merits a bad review though, just use two band aids at the corners to keep it from peeling off and it works like a charm. I would definitely do some research on what to expect, such as nicotine withdrawals, before quitting so that you understand what your getting into. Great product, it works, start quitting today.

Niocoderm CQ is a fantastic NRT and far superior to store bought brands. I tried a wallgreens brand, and while it stuck just fine and looks almost exactly the same, something in its delivery system is amiss. I quickly felt the lack of nicotine, despite the same 14 mg dosage, as the nicoderm CQ patches I just ran out of. Listen, I know it costs a few more bucks, but it is soooo worth it, not to mention substantially cheaper than cigarettes. These clear patches stick great, I can remove hair with these and they do not come off during workouts or even a bath or a shower. Have been using them for a couple of months and never had one come off.If you have trie quitting cold turkey in the past and couldn't quite deal with the side ffects, try these patches. They have me well on my way to being quit for good. After 24 years of smoking a pack or more a day, I am cigarette free. I don't smell like a garbage can, my teeth are whiter, I can take a nice deep breat, I smell everything and anything, my sense of flavor has improved. Its just such a massive improvement in my life, and much of it thanks to a great NRT like these Nicoderm CQ patches. Thanks to slow release of nicotine, it helps you avoid massive cravings and up and down type feelings during your quit. Really worth a try.A couple tips:- You can cut these aprticular ones into smaller patches, so instead of buying step 3 patches (7mg) you can buy step 1 patches and cut those into thirds or buy step 2 patches and cut them in half. Will save you a bundle. Step 2 and 3 of these are exactly the same thing, except smaller in size.- You can get some insanely vivid dreams if you go to bed with a patch. I choose to take my off right before bed to avoid waking up 2 or 3 times during the night. SOme people experience vivid nightmares, but there are some who enjoy this experience. Not me.- pick a date, commit and leave this nasty habbit in the past. These babies will help you in a huge way.-
