Functional as well as beautiful, this 3-quart saucepan is made of heavy 18/10 stainless steel polished to a mirror finish. The pan has an aluminum core in its base to spread heat quickly and evenly. The core is completely clad in stainless steel so, like the rest of the pan, the bottom resists corrosion and discoloring and cleans up easily. Thick rolled rims add durability and make it possible to pour from the pan without dripping. Because the pan comes with a domed lid that self-bastes foods it can be used for reheating a portion or two of cassoulet or macaroni and cheese on the stovetop or in the oven without drying it out. (The handles are oven-safe to 350 degrees F and stay cool on the stovetop.) The pan is dishwasher-safe and comes with a lifetime warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

    5.0 out of 5 stars High-quality saucepan

    C.G. · July 27, 2024

I bought this saucepan to replace a similar Farberware 3-quart saucepan that's more than 30 years old. I'm thrilled to have found this, as my previous Farberware pans have lasted a long time. Also, this version has a metal lid--not glass--which I prefer. The heat conduction is even and the weight is good (not too heavy, not too light). Hopefully, the handle attachment will last, too, as this is what prompted me to replace my old saucepan.

This a solid, well made pot. It is a good stainless steel and it heats quickly and evenly. Even though it is not non-stick, clean up is easy. Would highly recommend and I’m thinking of getting a second one before they sell out.

This is a great pot, works great and looks nice too. Very sturdy. I'm going to get more in other sizes.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent buy - and not made in China!

    V.W. · September 29, 2012

OK - so it was made in Thailand - but not China! Maybe I just got lucky on this one production lot?As for the pan, it's truly a dandy. The bottom is flat enough to work perfectly on my ceramic top stove which is unusual for a pan this inexpensive. Actually, it's a bit unusual for expensive pans also.I bought a very expensive set of 7 ply pans last year through Bolo and this inexpensive SS pan with the bonded aluminum bottom works every bit as well, if not better. It is heavy enough to be stable on the stove but not so heavy that this old lady has problems picking it up when it is full of soup or whatever. The reason I bought this pan is that the "3 qt. saucepan" which came with the expensive set is shaped more like what I would call a chicken fryer and is most definitely NOT a sauce pan.The expensive pans do not have rolled top edges and are impossible to pour out of even when mostly empty. This Farberware Classic pan does have rolled edges and after using a ladle to empty the soup or tea down to about half a pot I can actually pour the rest out without it running down the sides of the pan and all over the counter!I also like the way the top fits inside of the pan, preventing the condensation on the inside of the lid from running every which way when you pick it up (if you handle it properly). As with all other stainless steel pans I've ever owned, there will be white spots on the bottom after washing it if you have cooked quantities of onions and/or dried beans (even previously cooked dried beans). This is taken care of easily and quickly by putting 1/2 cup white vinegar plus 1 1/2 cups water in the pan, covering it, bringing it to a boil and then removing it from the burner and letting it sit for at least 5 minutes. Bingo: shiny pan! Please do not write a comment telling me to use Barkeepers Friend to clean the inside of my pans. It takes some of the metal off which is evident from how black the rag gets! This is OK for my stainless steel sink, but I prefer to keep my pans as close to their original thickness as possible!I hope this pan will last a very long time and that there will be no problems with the handle - which seems to be the only issue other reviewers have repeatedly mentioned.I also wish I had saved at least a couple hundred dollars and bought a complete set of the Farberware Classic pans last year.As other reviewers have stated: It would be extremely helpful to list the country where products are manufactured. I definitely would have gone for the Farberware last year if I had known they are not made in China.P.S. The booklet which came with the pan reminded us that stainless steel DOES scratch, so don't plan to use sharp edged metal utensils.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent pan and lifetime guarantee--excellent buy!

I have a set of 16-year-old Farberware. I ordered this 3 qt. pan as a replacement--the handle on my old 3 qt. cracked from where the screw hole is. After I received this beautiful pan, I noticed the limited lifetime guarantee, called the number, and a new handle for my old pan is in the mail to me as we speak. This 3 qt. pan is even nicer than the pans I bought almost 20 years ago and is higher than the old model with a nicer lid/rolled edges and nicer bottom--and it really is beautiful--very classic styling. Since I use them so often and new one's so lovely, I will definitely keep the new one even though a replacement handle is on its way.I also have a 1 qt., 2 qt., 4 qt. pot, 4 qt. dutch oven, 10" skillet and little mini-skillet, all of which I use all the time (I use at least one or more daily) with no problems. Very nice, basic cookware at a reasonable, affordable price. I bought my cookware individually back when I couldn't afford to buy an entire set. I loved the fact that you could buy a quality pan individually.BTW, I acquired one of my 4 qt. pots from my grandmother's possessions after who knows how many decades of cooking and it's still in excellent condition. Also have her double boiler pot. Even though the screws do loosen, I only have to tighten every few months at most and have never had a screw strip or lost a handle. I would always buy another Farberware if needed (after seeing this new saucepan, would really like to buy a whole set of it, even though I don't really need it!)

There's at least one great cook out there who uses Farberware, and she's my mom. She cooks every day, she has Farberware pots and pans that are over fifty years old, and they still work. So, here's my first caveat ... this newer Farberware is not the same as that older Farberware. At least, it doesn't quite look the same -- her saucepans are thicker and perceptibly heavier than mine. Maybe that's because they were made differently back then, or maybe it's because today's materials are better. With that said, I think these newer Farberware saucepans work pretty well. Using them on a gas stove over low, medium, or medium-high heat, I haven't noticed any hot or cold spots. This suggests that the cladding on the bottom is doing its job and distributing heat evenly. The lids fit well (I have the 1, 2, and 3 quart sizes) and the handles stay cool.I have other cookware that I like better than Farberware -- but all of it cost at least twice as much. Which is really the point, I think. I see Farberware as a significant step up from the bargain junk that'll burn your food and fall apart in a couple years. By the same token, it's not made -- or priced -- like a professional chef's equipment. It's somewhere in between, and that's just about the right place for my cooking skills and wallet. For any job, whether it's building a shed or cooking a meal, your tools are important. They don't have to be professional quality, but they have to be competent. You need to know that if you don't make a mistake, you'll get the right result. That's what Farberware is, and that's what Farberware does.

    My wife loved it

My wife only wanted to buy a used copper-bottom Revere Ware. Thought we would try this. She loves it and at about 1/3rd the price of a used Revere.

I ordered this pot because as a senior citizen I was looking for a pot with specific features. The handle doesn’t get hot and is designed for easy carrying. The pot is a good thickness and very sturdy, but not overly heavy. The pot is high , rather than wide, so water doesn’t boil over .There is a warranty and this brand is known for it’s quality. The price is well worth the value.

Still decent, but compared to an original one we have from the late 1960s to early 70s (50 plus years of almost daily use) you do notice the difference in quality. Kind of how car panels are now thinner metal same deal here but it is not coke can thin like modern car panels. You can bang this one around a bit and it should hold up but I wont expect it to make 50 years.
