About this item:
The Rubbermaid FastTrack Storage System is The Fast Way to Organize your garage. Equipped with rails, hooks, shelves and cabinets it’s an easy storage solution that can grow as life changes. Add storage space to your garage, basement or workshop. This base cabinet has a unique, snap together design that is quick and easy to assemble. It has 13.5 cubic ft. of storage space perfect for storing valuables and hazardous chemicals.
This is a perfect cabinet to use for garage storage, where its slightly homely appearance won't matter, and where wooden or metal cabinets would be likely to get dinged by yard tools, cars, and so on.
The cabinet is easy to assemble-you don't need tools to do it, though a soft mallet may be helpful. As with most Rubbermaid products, this one is almost indestructible. The cabinet's lightweight construction makes relocating it easy, and it has a small footprint for what it can hold (it has 10.7 cubic feet of storage area, and will support up to 335 pounds). If you intend to use the cabinet to store toxic items, you may want to consider ordering a set of locks from the manufacturer as these are not included with the cabinet.--Josh Dettweiler

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Storage
I purchased several of these and love them. I have found that they are perfect for the basement storage of tools, paint supplies and any other stuff we all have to organize. I have owned one that has been perfect for 20 years and is still just like new. It looks almost as perfect as the brand-new ones. The assembly was easy. I highly recommend this type of storage containers.
5.0 out of 5 stars Lightweight but sturdy
Takes a little muscle to slot some of the pieces together, but it's a sturdy little guy! I use it to store seasonal decor in my classroom. Hasn't broken under the ministrations of rough-housing football players yet so I consider it money well spent.
4.0 out of 5 stars Visually, they look pretty much the same as ones bought a decade ago give or take a few years
I was disappointed in the plastic shavings and loose disks inside the box. It seemed more cheaply made than years ago but maybe my memory is playing tricks on me. But it went together easily and looks fine next to my taller cabinet bought so many years ago. That one has aged very very slowly despite hanging out in a humid basement.
5.0 out of 5 stars May Not Work For Some
This is my second purchase of this cabinet, first one being in 2011. Had two particle board cabinets of more than 20 years old that started to fail at their bases and this was my choice for a replacement of both. Again may not work for some since the shelves are fixed in place of 15 inches (total of 4), about 30 inches wide, and 16 inches deep. Since I already had an example to view I wanted clear storage bins for organizing in this second cabinet.HELPFUL HINTI purchased from Bolo IRIS USA TB Clear Plastic Storage Bin Tote Organizing Containers 5 Qt of 10. These stack in 9 for 1 shelf. For much larger bins I purchased IRIS Buckets 40 Qt of 6 counts. They fit each shelf only of one. I used only 3 of them.DIRECTIONS ARE POOR with only diagrams. Since I already had an example in place it was much easier for me, however. Here are some help to go alone with this 7083 unit numbered diagrams.Number 1 Black Solid Shelves are used on the bottom and the topNumber 2 Tubes used are all the same length and side gray panels are all marked "A"Number 3 Back panels are marked "B"Number 4 Doors for Right Side are Marked "G" and Left "F" looking at the cabinet from the front and leave openNumber 5 No tubes install yetNumber 6 Sides marked "A"Number 7 Install Front Tubes only firstNumber 8 Rears panel Marked "B"Number 9 Top of unit is the other Black shelfUnit should last a lifetime and would survive a flood!
1.0 out of 5 stars So far I'm very disappointed
Spent what I considered alot of $$ for this cabinet because I expected good quality from Rubbermaid and I needed the advertised features: quick and easy to assemble, sturdy, waterproof. I've just started assembling it and am so frustrated. Instructions are printed on the back of the box as "how-to" pictures that are unclear with very little detail. I'm stuck on step 5 because you can't see in the instruction picture exactly what to do. I googled Rubbermaid for the instructions and only found a poor quality scan of the exact same instructions that are the box. I can't find any videos for assembly. Oh, and, it was difficult to navigate the Rubbermaid online list of instructions to find what I was looking for.I opted for this cabinet because it was emphasized how 'easy' it was to assemble. We are experiencing life difficulties right now that makes finding time and recourses for such things as product assembly excruciatingly difficult. It took a while to find time to shop for this much need storage cabinet and then took me weeks to finally find time to start assembly. I'm so disappointed that it is not easy to assemble as advertised. I think it might be if clear instructions were provide.Though not together yet, what I'm seeing so far makes me pessimistic that it will be sturdy and waterproof as advertised. If time permits, I'll update this review if and when I finish putting it together and start using it. It seems to be sloppily manufactured. The assembly holes appear to drilled with defective or worn tooling. The assembly hold cutout were left inside the parts and shavings are everywhere and there's a look of stringy, melted rubber around the holes. The round cutouts fall out everywhere when removing the parts from the box. Some of the parts are somewhat labeled from the molding, for example F1, these labels are not referenced elsewhere. It would have been nice if the instructions identified and referenced them.
3.0 out of 5 stars I think this will be a functional unit that should work nicely. It will be in my garage out of ...
Box arrived beat up. It's a big box, 64 lbs I believe. It was taped additionally sometime in transit to keep the box from falling apart. I received no instructions in the box, but was able to look up the pictogram type instructions online and print them out. Wife and I put it together, although one person can do it. Overall quality of pieces is ok, but one of the side panels is split on a seam. I will see about reinforcing the split with some kind of adhesive/epoxy to keep the split from running further. One of the doors interferes with a side panel when opening the door, distorting the side piece out of position. I can see over time this might cause failure of the door or side panel. The molding process during manufacture seems to suffer quality control problems. Overall, I think this will be a functional unit that should work nicely. It will be in my garage out of the elements. In retrospect, the $200 price is too high after seeing the quality of this unit. Side note: I also received 2 1x2 black boards, slotted on one side, drilled on the other, and a piece of metal square stock with compression buttons on each side. The instructions don't reflect these parts, and there was no parts list that I can find. Have no idea what these pieces are for.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great outdoor storage unit
We purchased this to store our firewood. Perfect size to put kindling on a shelf and different sizes on the other shelfs. It helped to have a two step ladder and a rubber malet since I am on the short side. Very easy to put together.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great cabinet
Love the size and easy to put together. I was able to adjust and put two together one on top of the other to make one tall cabinet.
