5.0 out of 5 stars This one works!
I was working on a van that sat for 10yrs and the oil filter was practically welded on. In the picture you can see what the first two filter wrenches did to it and never budged it. I ordered this wrench and used a 1/2" drive breaker bar with a 24" pipe over that and still had to really pull on it. But this thing held firm and badda bing badda boom it broke it free and I got the filter off. Without a doubt the BEST oil filter wrench made! It will work!!!
5.0 out of 5 stars Only tool that worked
I bought a 30 year old SUV to begin restoring - Car runs and drives already so first order of business was to change the fluids. I purchased the car from the second owner who only had it for two months and put about 800 miles on it without changing the oil - he said the first owner said it was due for a change. I checked the service records and saw the vehicle only has had 2,000 miles put it on it in the past 10 years so I'm guessing that's how long the current filter has been on it. I started out with my spider wrench - it just scraped up the side of the filter. Moved on to my filter pliers and ended up crushing the filter in slightly - I resorted to the screw driver method and it just started tearing a line through the side of the filter so I immediately stopped - I knew I would need to try a strap and then move on to removing the entire filter mount - I hopped on Bolo and bought this strap, it arrived the next day and I noticed the strap was nice and wide and seemed to be good quality - It is slotted into the socket in a way that seems nice and sturdy with pretty much no chance of it coming out and the socket itself is incredibly thick. The filter on this truck is surrounded by oil cooler and brake lines on on side, the engine block on another and the radiator on the third - there is only one spot I could even wrench on it and even there I've only got about 5" of play - I went ahead and got this strap wrapped around and slid my socket with an angle adapter onto it. After about two minutes of prying on the socket wrench the filter came loose! I'm quite happy with this little tool and it will be ready at hand for all of my future oil changes. Would recommend in a heart beat. It saved me a ton of trouble as I would have had to remove the oil cooling lines, brake lines, heat shields around the engine block and then pull the whole filter mounting assembly out but luckily this thing got it moving.
5.0 out of 5 stars Works Great!
I had some filters that were stuck on a tractor that I was doing maintenance on. This tool loosened up the filters. I recommend this tool.
4.0 out of 5 stars Great for tight spaces
I have a vehicle you can't use a cap style or filter pliers to remove the oil filter. This worked great ,I'm never disappointed with gearwench tools.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great product!
I had never heard of these until I watched a youtube video and saw a guy pull one out, but I bought this in anticipation of needing it to remove a golf cart oil filter that hadn't been changed in over 5-6 years. The oil filter was not even close to budging with just my hands. I don't have a 1/2" socket set (ony 3/8"), but I did find an adapter in all of my accessories that made it easy to connect this filter wrench. It still took a little bit of muscle (for a strong female) to work the filter off with this, but it easily fit around the filter, in a tight space and helped get off the filter. Wouldn't have been able to complete the oil change without this product. Highly recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best ever!!!!
I used this to remove a stuck on oil filter on my 2005 R1200RT. Let’s just say who ever patent this device is a genius! I tried ever oil filter wrench on the market and this was my last try resort and it took my vapor locked oil filter off with EASE!!!Love this wrench it was my life saver!!!!
5.0 out of 5 stars Got me out of bond where even "screwdriver method" failed
I never leave reviews but this got me out of a bind with a really stuck filter. For me well worth the $7.Nylon strap didn't tear even though filter had some jagged edges. Thin strap got around whole filter in difficult to access location on 2004 Dodge.I gave 4 stars for sturdiness because I'm not sure the strap would hold up with daily professional use, but they sell heavier duty versions for 4 to 6 times the cost. Worked great for one time use for me. I was impressed that I saw no cut or anything on strap with my use given tight fit and jagged edges on filter after punching through filter with screwdriver. I saw a review where strap came unattached for somebody else. I torqued on this pretty hard with a breaker bar and saw no I'll effects. It was a little awkward for me to use with the oil filter facing downwards on my SUV. But it got the job done after a lot of frustration trying to use the wrench off 1" bolt off K&N filter. I buggered that up because it was hard to get wrench or socket on solidly due to filter location. Tried other wrenches, breaking on, and even the screwdriver method, but this was what finally got the job done. The only area for improvement I would like so see is a tighter fit to the half inch socket. It kept slipping off because I was using it upside down due to my filter location. It is a little awkward to use due to strap and nature of design. I still gave 4 stars because I expected this awkwardness with this type of wrench. I think there are other designs that could be used with socket extension that might be easier to use, but the ones with that design were at the professional heavy duty price point. I think the strap flexibility actually helped me due to the awkward location of my filter.I would classify this as a "last resort" wrench due to a little awkwardness in use. Once I got filter broke loose with this it was easier to use a jaws type wrench to get it the rest of the way. I would try this before the nasty messy screwdriver method.
Works excellent on stuck oil filter
Used it to remove worst oil filter I had seen. Works great
Very handy in tight spaces.
