About this item:
Brazos, a Briggs Healthcare Company, is a family operated business located in the beautiful Brazos River Valley area of central Texas. We’ve been producing the highest quality handcrafted sticks and canes for more than 15 years. Our products are made by skilled craftsmen in small, “cottage industry” workshops located within a few miles of our facilities. Brazos walking canes offer natural appeal because they are made from real wood. You can see the fine detail and beauty of the actual tree. Each cane is a work of art. it is common for the canes and sticks to have cracks, especially on the ends. These naturally formed cracks do not inhibit the stability of the staffs in anyway but help define the character.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best walking stick around!
I bought this stick because I was having difficulty getting down stairs, and a regular sized cane wasn't cutting it. Since the stairs are uneven tile, the stair-cane that the physical therapist recommended didn't work either. Enter the Brazos Walking Stick, made in Texas! The stick is a generous height, so you can put the stick down a step or a curb and still have enough length to lean on it. It's not so long that it's unwieldy to store in the house or car! The stick has a very nice, natural look and finish. There's a wrist strap with a leather Brazos logo at the top, and also a small antiqued metal plaque in the side. There is a slip-resistant rubber end cap on the bottom of the stick (i'm sure this is a standard cane size cap). The stick is very sturdy. It's a really great stick when you need a little extra support and balance. I'm sure it would be good for hiking, although I've only used it for urban hiking thus far. I really appreciate that it's made in the USA too. 10/10.
5.0 out of 5 stars Have Appropriate Expectations - natural saplings crafted by different craftsmen
Overall I’m very pleased with these sticks. Only one had a crack on the top, which can be addressed with CA flex glue and spray. The stick that shipped directly from Brazos DID have cling wrap around the footer and stick to ensure it stayed - they are listening, folks! All shipped separately and came with footers.Hopefully my side by sides of some of the options help you pick what may suit you best!I saw the look, price, and American made and was inspired for Grandparent Christmas gifts! The extra bear is for a kiddo yet to make his official debut! After receiving some with the same craftsman sticker and looking at them, I’m inclined to believe those stickers are legitimate and not just a “make it authentic” marketing ploy. I also love that the tag includes a some facts/information about the type of wood used for the stick!Personal observations:- stark contrast and uniform - Hickory- subtle contrast and uniform - Sweet Gum- unique grains/colors/shape - Sassafras- slender, but “solid”, uniform- Iron WoodWith various craftsmen using natural pieces - you MUST expect variations from photos/between two sticks!!!Ordering online you are subject to luck of the draw… you don’t have the benefit of riffling through the barrel to pick your favored width, look, and height or avoid the ones that have split (not necessarily quality control issues - wood can be Wiley). If you are looking for a Cinderella Glass Slipper stick, you have absolutely NO business ordering a walking stick online. If you aren’t too picky, appreciate the unique aspect of natural materials, want to support American Craftsman and an American “small” business with reasonable prices, and can’t get to an outdoor store to pick one in person (or don’t want to pay outdoor store prices), give it a go!
5.0 out of 5 stars I REALLY like my walking stick!
I am sneaking up on septegenarian status. Have been a runner and a walker all my life, but health problems have had me down for months. I inherited a cane - one of those cheap aluminum canes you can find in your local bargain store. It kinda worked, it actually helped a little. Tried another that was given to me, same thing. I mean, they keep you from falling down, but somehow, they aren't natural. So, I came looking for a walking stick. There's a whole world of difference between the cane and a stick. Instead of reaching down to a cane, my are is crooked forward at a natural angle, gripping the stick. All the motion of the stick comes from my wrist, my arm moves very little if at all. And, the stick just swings naturally in my left hand, matching the motion of my right leg. It is just so intuitive, and effortless.I was insistent that I wanted to spend fifty bucks or less, at least on my first stick, because I didn't want to waste money. I found this particular Brazos walking stick for little more than half my self imposed spending limit. Great buy, considering those cheap canes cost as much and more. The ironwood stick has already been commented on by several people. Everyone who sees it likes the appearance. People may not even comment, but the stick is an eyecatcher, and everyone around gives the stick an admiring look.My wife likes it so much, she asked me to get her one. We sat down and looked at Brazos' offerings, and decided on a 48" Hawthorne stick for her. It should arrive tomorrow, well ahead of Christmas and family get togethers.Five stars are not enough stars for my Brazos Ironwood walking stick.Incidentally, it's a comforting feeling to know that I'm not entirely defenseless if assaulted by some miscreant. Or, even an animal. I can push a dog away, or whack an assailant in the head. Maybe I'll watch some martial arts videos, and become an expert with pole arms? OK, I'm just kidding with that, but this stick is stout!
5.0 out of 5 stars Im so pleased!
Bought this to replace a cheaper one I had made from unknown wood. Old one cracked. I need a good stick to walk my dogs. My depth perception changed after cataract surgery, making me feel 'off kilter'. I can feel secure with a dependable walking stick. Not sure what is happening in my brain, but this makes all the difference in the world! Ive always love the weight and strength of hickory. This a beautiful and simple stick. Perfect. Highly recommend products from this company!
4.0 out of 5 stars Nice walking stick.
It's a beautifully crafted walking stick. Nicely finished with few uncomfortable edges. I'm 6'2", and it's a bit short for me. I have to adjust my grip and it's usable. I had to wrap the top portion with tape to cover up the medallion. It was an irritant to my hand. It would be better if it didn't have the inlaid medallion.
Magnifique
Magnifique bâton!
Beautiful
A work of art and it helps me walk around
Nice walking stick
Long enough, nice weight and good quality.
"It's a stick"
"It's a stick", a very nice stick, well crafted and very solid, Brazos spends time to create a beautiful, functional walking stick, but it's still a stick. One other thing, the colour is nothing as shown, it's closer to grey than brown.
Quality
Great price, beautiful and light.
