Love this mandoline: there are so many on the market but this one is sharp, sturdy and easy to use. The bottom container is made of good quality plastic, not thin and fragile. The only thing I didn't like was the finger protector grip tool (you know, the little pronged slide that holds the stump of your cucumber.) But I got a set of protective gloves to use anyway.I make a lot of cucumber salad. Basically English or Persian cucumber, rice vinegar, honey or Korean brown rice syrup (oligosaccharide), a touch of soy sauce, toasted sesame oil and some chili oil crunch. Proportions? More or less figure it out to your taste. Toasted sesame seeds to garnish optional and I also put in finely sliced sweet onion on occasion. Let sit 30 minutes. The Benriner is excellent to get the fine, even cucumber slices I like.You can also do shreds with blades that exchange out with a screw; good quality steel that really do a job. It's easy to change the blades. Great for making carrot salad. I like these marinated raw vegetable salads to add to any meal. The Benriner makes it very easy to whip up salad for sides with lunch sandwiches or with rice and fish dinners.

First I have to say, it's sharp. And when I say "sharp" I mean that it cuts your fingers just by looking at it. So, when you read the instruction pamphlet and come to the part where it says "Watch your fingers", take it serious. Now that we have that out of the way, I can honestly say that it is a great gadget to have. I cut pretty much any vegetable with it and ALWAYS use the safe guard, after a few painful encounters.It comes with 3 different parts which can make your veggies from shredded to super fine shredded or you just use the slicer which you can also adjust from big to paperthin slices. Because of the super-sharp blades it cuts even cabbage like butter. It's easy to clean and doesn't need much space on your kitchen counter.The only down thing is that it's not really useful to cut small amounts such as garlic or pieces of ginger. For that you have to use the good old kitchen knife.

Super sharp, yes that is why they give you the finger guard use it. Cuts food very fast if you not paying attention you could cut a finger tip off. The tray fits perfectly to the slicer, no moving around, and the tray has rubber feet to not move around on the table. I cut a potato and onion in a few seconds and caught it in the tray. I have used these before, best brand to get. I just opted to upgrade for the catch tray, the old one is about 10 years old only needed to sharpen once about a year ago. I will buy again if i break mine. I did not try the extra blades yet but will try for french fries.

So far so good. I was very excited to get this mandolin out of the box and in use. It is easy to adjust and change the different blades, most importantly, it cuts through veggies like a charm. I will be using this in my home kitchen and am excited at how much time it will save me, while looking like I spent way more time than I actually did to get perfect, uniform slices and dices. Grew up in a home where everything was cut by hand with a knife, so happy I discovered this to use when preparing food for my own family. I did a fair amount of research before purchasing this mandolin, which is the first that I own so I cannot really compare it with others. Though I feel like I definitely made the right choice when deciding on this one. I'm definitely happy that I decided to purchase the older model with the included tray, it catches the sliced veggies perfectly. Was a bit nervous about having an accident after seeing other reviews, but once I actually had it in my hands and put it to use, I realized that it is not as intimidating as I had originally thought. Though I did also purchase a pair of cut protective gloves to use with this, as recommended by others. The finger guard that came with it is a bit clumsy to use, though I have only been using it for a day, so I'm glad I have the gloves at least until I get used to using a mandolin. Does look like it gets stained fairly easily, but I'm okay with that. Also, the one that I received has stainless steel knobs to adjust, not the green plastic ones, as shown in the photo. So that was an added bonus for me.

Good value for money, this slicer is on the cheaper end of the spectrum but does the job good so is great for people looking for a budget option. The blades are sharp allowing most vegetables to glide easily through as long as you get the right angle. Personally I never use the guard as I just find it easier to use without. I also love that the product is not too bulky so storage is easy.

I had three mandoline slicers before this one. The replaceable blades alone should give this a look. The performance is the reason to give it a try. The price, I would pay more. The control and the ease of use is the result of form and function. Get a metal glove and you will be slicing in the time it takes for the soap to get rinsed after the first wash.

Prima Mandoline, mir gefällt das das Messer rausgenommen werden kann zum schärfen und man kann die dicke der Scheiben einstellen, die Kämme die dazu geliefert wurden gehen leider nicht für alle Gemüse Sorten , im Großen und Ganzen bin ich zufrieden.

Very useful for salads. I use a cut-proof glove because the hand guard is small.

Works very well and is very sturdy. I opted for this version over the one with out the collection tray because one review had said that it wasn't very sturdy. I have made all sorts of things with it, very quickly. I was able to make a whole apple crumble in less than 10 minutes with the flat blade. I also used it to make mango salad. It was so much quicker that using a knife, since there is a little blade attachment to add to it juliennes the mango instantly :) I would recommend it to anyone. VERY IMPORTANT - buy the glove that doesn't allow you to cut yourself. I have cut myself on a mandolin in the past, it was not pretty. Safety first! Plus the gloves are pretty cheap.
