About this item:
THERABAND Hand Exercisers are a product for hands, fingers or forearms. They are available in two shapes (standard and elongated) and in five progression levels. Their unique soft feel enables users to complete a variety of movements to strengthen grip, increase dexterity and mobility, and improve fine and gross motor skills through a system of progressive compression while offering the added benefit of hot and cold therapy. The XL, elongated hand exerciser is one-third larger than the standard size and is designed for patients with large hands. Each Exerciser is individually packaged with exercise illustrations. Lightly dust with corn starch or baby powder to achieve desired texture.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extra soft hand exercise ball
This is good for carpel tunnel recovery. The instructions are very clear on how to wash and re-powder this therapy ball, rather than allowing it to become sticky and dirty. Take care of it and it will take care of you. I keep mine in a plastic bowl with a lid between uses.
5.0 out of 5 stars Soft enough to use for Hand Therapy In HEDS (Hypermobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome) patients and
I love this product. I have a connective tissue disease that has taken a tole on the strength and pain in my hands and fingers. This has really helped with my hands and not been so hard that I couldn’t use it. This works great for people with Ehlers- Danlos Syndrome Hypermobile type. I has worked well for my mom and she had severe RA with band joint deformity in her hands. This ball is soft enough almost anyone can use it - whether u have joint issues from EDS, RA, or and any kind of arthritis I carry it around with me and use it while waiting in lines or at appointments. It is a also to use great when sitting & watching TV. It has really helped my hands and gradually strength my hands without hurting or dislocating my joints.
4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully soft but became sticky after contact with carpet
This ball is incredibly soft and is great if you have an injury like tennis elbow and are looking for a ball that you can really squeeze without causing a lot of pain. If you use a harder ball, you can still squeeze it as softly as you want but it won’t depress and you don’t get the same range of motion and muscle activation as with this ball. Now the bad news. I left the ball on a carpet and it reacted chemically to the carpet and became extremely sticky, as if the outer coating had worn off on the area where it contacted the carpet. The ball became almost unusable unless I positioned it so that my hand avoided the sticky spot, which was very difficult. Then I tried putting some tissue over the sticky spot. The tissue adhered to and covered the sticky spot, so it was no longer unpleasant to touch the ball.If you are very careful about where you leave the ball, you shouldn’t have this problem. If it does become sticky, you can deal with the problem by putting tissue over the sticky part. I have a small concern that the sticky insides will eventually come out through the seam in the ball, but that hasn’t happened yet. Overall, I’d recommend buying it if you want a really soft ball and can’t find a more durable one, but be aware that it may have a limited life if it comes in contact with something that reacts chemically to the coating of the ball and exposes the sticky material inside it.Update: I bought a second one so that I could exercise both hands simultaneously and save time. I didn't leave it lying on a carpet and it didn't deteriorate like the last one. I also bought a Theraband ball with the next higher level of resistance (soft, red) since I'm recovering from my tennis elbow. I still like to use the yellow ones sometime since you can squeeze them really flat which gives good range of motion for your hand exercises.
