About this item:
Two chunky ceramic bar magnets are encased completely in plastic and feature color-coded poles (north is red, and south is blue). Oversized magnets are easy for little hands to grasp. Each measures 3.13 inches long x 1 inch wide x .38 inch thick. Perfect for early magnet investigations--explore polarity, attraction, repulsion, magnetic fields, and more! Ceramic magnets are the most lightweight and economical magnets. Usage tips: Avoid dropping or banging. Although they are more durable when encased in plastic (as this product is), ceramic magnets that have been dropped or impacted by force can break or chip. That is a property of the ceramic material. Also, any magnet that is dropped or banged can lose its magnetism--its domains inside can get misaligned. Storage: Store all magnets away from high heat and direct sunlight. Child safety tested for ages 3+/grades preK+.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works
Bought these years ago to teach young kids about magnetism. I still have them and they still work great as an illustration tool of polarity.
5.0 out of 5 stars Worked great for lab
I wanted to show students a good visual of magnetic forces. So, I bought a few of these and some iron filings. The magnets worked really well and the students had a great time.
5.0 out of 5 stars Simple Magnets for Science Demonstration
I bought these magnets to demonstrate magnet polarity. Perfect for that.
4.0 out of 5 stars Small, but Good Value
Decent value; smaller than what I hoped to find, but still fit our needs for our science curriculum. 👍 I'd buy them again if we needed more.
5.0 out of 5 stars Magnet
Useful dipole magnet
3.0 out of 5 stars Not great, but good enough...
As another reviewer mentioned, the plastic coating definitely affects the strength of these magnets. Also the description says that the poles are clearly marked which is incorrect -- I had to call the company to find out. Red is north, BTW. I just needed them for a college class mock science lesson so they did what I needed them to do... but if you need bar magnets with the poles marked for an actual classroom project I'd suggest looking elsewhere.
5.0 out of 5 stars Good for Classroom
Worked well in my classes.
5.0 out of 5 stars It's magnetic
Not much else to say. Would be nice if N/S were marked on the magnet, but otherwise, it's a magnet as advertised.
