5.0 out of 5 stars Pleasantly surprised
Put this together last night for my grandson and was pleasantly surprised. It took me a minute to put the rails on as the directions are a little lacking. The pieces are supposed to be lettered but I couldn't find the letters on them but got it together as its fairly obvious how it goes. Get an 8 pack of D batteries when you order this item because if you don't have them on hand, like me, you'll have to wait to test it out. Finally got the batteries(I mean who keeps D batteries on hand any more?????) and tested it out. Worked perfectly! The machine pitched the balls a good 20 feet! I cant wait for my grandson o see it, hes gonna be thrilled. And it'll save my arm since I wont have to pitch to him for an hour!
5.0 out of 5 stars Great buy!!
Got this for my grandkids and they love this automatic baseball throwing machine!! It’s really helped them to practice with all the fun! Plus, it keeps them busy so mom can relax. :)
4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but not great
I bought this unit to help my 7 and 8 year old become better at tracking the ball. Dollar for dollar you cannot beat this machine, but there are some drawbacks.WHAT IT DOES WELL:• Serves balls from 20~ feet• Adjusts for pitch angle, can be propped up to toss pop flies• Develops reaction time from the 7 second pitch timerWHAT IT DOES POORLY:• DRINKS BATTERIES. I got a set of rechargeable D cell batteries and they have to be recharged after every session or there is a noticeable lack of power in the pitches• The balls wear quickly and fly unevenly with only about 100 reps. Balls also do not have red seams so it is hard to see any rotation on the ball• The feed mechanism is a little janky and does not always have enough gravity to feed the next ballOverall this is a great entry level training tool - by far the best one I have bought so far. If your kids are new to the game, or just need something to help them get over fear of the ball flying at them, this is a good unit. For what its worth, both my kids have been clocked in the face by this machine and shrugged it off after the initial shock, which is worth its weight in gold for a developing player
3.0 out of 5 stars Better for catching than batting.
Based on reviews, I bought the Jugs balls. I have found that the machine does not work well with the Jugs balls. The Jugs balls seem to jam in the machine as if they are a little too large. Some will function, some do not, and those have to be pried out.The supplied balls function much better but their flight paths are as unpredictable as the reviews have said. This makes the machine less valuable as a batting trainer since the balls might fly properly into the strike zone or they may go all over the place. Note that the speed of the balls is respectable, and the ball could frighten a child if it were to hit him or her. My 8 year old grand-daughter was having a good time until the ball hit her in the head...no harm done but it dampened her enthusiasm a bit!!Because of this lack of accuracy, I think the machine is better at throwing balls for kids to catch.Side note, the machine takes 4 D batteries, not 6.
5.0 out of 5 stars Child did enjoy playing
My 5year old grandson was able to easily hit the balls being pitched fairly consistent towards the hitting zone with the help of an oversize plastic bat. That aided in his confidence I believe to next use a narrower bat. If using on grass , a flat surface like a piece of wood should be used to keep it better level. It will consume batteries but being motor driven that was not unexpected. I recommend using rechargeables.
1.0 out of 5 stars *DO NOT WASTE MONEY, ITEM CLEARLY USED AND DEFECTIVE*
Bought this item as a present for a 8 year old starting to get into baseball. Unfortunately, he was disappointed and so was I.Pros: I always try to find a bright side to things but unfortunately this item was not as described. The only easy part was it was easy to assemble, did not even have to read instructions. Needed 4 D batteries and then started to slowly run.Cons: First of all, the item came very jumbled in the box. No packaging and just the Bolo package which caused all the pieces to be thrown around and bent as seen in the picture above. The item has very clearly been USED. The MLB stickers had been peeled off and stuck back on, the plastic was starting to peel, the battery compartment came half off with one of the screws not even tightened. The red light does not work as described and only is on when there are no balls in the spiral. I would say 3/10 of the pitches are able to be hit when it is at the highest incline. The first 2 pitches whenever you start the machine up come out very slow and low. Takes a while for the gears to run and as soon as it does it is out of balls and the wheels shut off which only leads to my son hitting it maybe three times before having to gather all the balls up and restart the process.I did get this item for $28 when I think it is listed at $50 but I expected the item to be brand new when it was clearly not. Very upset but will keep because I let my son open it out of the box so I can not rip away his birthday present now. He is entertained but I am very disappointed with the quality of the purchase. If I had to do it again I would not buy this item. SAVE YOUR MONEY.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great for the budding player
My nephew loves baseball and wanted to be able to practice on his own in the yard. I gave this to him for Christmas and he absolutely loves it!! He’s practicing hitting all the time now!
5.0 out of 5 stars Good machine
Overall, it’s fairly easy to setup and works pretty well. It’s not always consistent with pitch placement, but that can help teach the strike zone.
Excelente opción
Excelente opción para entrenar, fácil de usar, también es un excelente juguete para los perros
So. Much. Fun.
So much fun! Got this for my 6 year old nephew and it had all the kids outside(and a few adults) testing it out. I agree with a few of the reviews that if there is wind it does affect as the balls are light weight it, but there was a breeze when we were using it and it still worked great. We had to of been out there for a few hours and you could tell the batteries were starting to lose some power, but was still kicking. It is unfortunate the size of battery it uses, but I bought the off brand battery at Walmart and it was $14 for 12 batteries, so that’s not too bad! Safety Tips: just don’t let them look directly into the machine and you should be fine haha. It does shoot them out pretty fast and a few kids got hit but there were no tears. Overall this thing was so great and a great tool to help kids with their game. Easy to put together, and the price is right. Get it!
Pitched Balls
The machine looks great! The pitched balls are not thrown accurately to the batter. We used it for indoor training. Is there something I'm not doing correctly?
Great little machine.
Great little pitching machine works well with supplied balls. Perfect for practice batting and catching.Arrived on time and easy to setup
Great toy
Much better than expected with regard to how fast and strong each pitch is. Wasn’t sure if it would be too childish for my ten year old girl that just fished her first season of baseball. She enjoys it very much. It does eat up batteries fast though and it goes through spurts where the pitch isn’t accurate. But overall a great buy for the price.
