The Lodge Cast Iron 5-inch square Skillet is wonderful for cooking individual eggs or other small dishes. Cast iron loves a campfire, a stovetop, or an oven, and can slow-cook foods without scorching. It retains heat well so you can sear meat at higher temperatures and will keep your delicious meals warm for a long time. Whether used in a kitchen or camp, theses virtually indestructible cookware should last for generations. Made of cast iron, this Skillet evenly distributes heat from the bottom through the sidewalls. Sporting a stylish black color, the cast iron Skillet looks good in most kitchens and it doubles up as an excellent source of nutritional iron. This pre-seasoned skillet is ready-to-use right out of the box. While the skillet comes pre-seasoned to prevent food from sticking, it works best when sprayed or lightly coated with vegetable oil before use. The Lodge seasoning procedure is a multiple-step process in which the seasoning oil is applied via an electrostatic spray system that coats the cookware, then it’s baked in commercial ovens at very high temperatures. This allows the oil to penetrate deeply into the pores of the iron. This seasoning process achieves a seasoned finish that would take many months of home use to achieve. Sometimes during this process, the seasoning oil can collect and create a bubble or slight drip at the bottom of the pan as it’s hanging through the production process. And that in turn can turn brown as it’s processed through the seasoning ovens. This brown spot is not rust but in fact, carbonized seasoning and will darken with use. The factory seasoning process makes Lodge cast iron products ready to use right out of the box, and the product over time “Just keeps getting better”. After cooking, clean with a stiff nylon brush and hot water. Using soap is not recommended, and harsh detergents should never be used. Towel dry immediately and apply a light coating of oil to utensil while it is still warm. Cast Iron, like your grandmother used, still ranks as one of the best cooking utensils ever made. It gives you a nearly non-stick surface, without the possible harmful fumes generated by preheating chemically treated nonstick cookware. The American-based company, Lodge, has been fine-tuning its construction of rugged, cast-iron cookware for more than a century.

Lodge is a good brand. This little skillet is perfect to cook /grill a sandwich or just a single serving. Follow the first time prep use for a cast-iron skillet!
5.0 out of 5 stars Tamagoyaki Plus
Bought this as a reasonably priced, USA-made option for making tamagoyaki. It's not the perfect pan to do so, but works fine while also retaining other uses. It was easy to clean after the first use (though most pans are if you use sufficient oil or fat, like butter - I do NOT like chemical coated, non-stick pans). The handle gets hot faster than larger cast iron pans due to this pan's smaller size but we have a towel within easy reach (right on the oven handle) so it doesn't pose a greater consideration than any other pan. It's also smaller than our smallest burners so you have to be a little more careful of the associated challenges like food falling out right onto the burner (instead of the stovetop). Tucks away nicely in just about any space - even a drawer.Great pan overall, would readily recommend for tamagoyaki or any other small portioned item.Price was ~$13 when I bought it which is reasonable.
5.0 out of 5 stars A very convenient little pan
I love cooking with cast iron, hate washing up the pan. Except for this one. It's big enough to make a fried breakfast, burger, sandwich or chop for one, small enough to clean up easily in a dishpan. With most of the surface area in use, food doesn't get baked on. It's small enough to take car camping and use on my little spirit stove, too. I also have the Norpro Mini Cast Iron Panini Pan with Press, which is very slightly larger. The two stack together and the press can be used on either. They make a great combo for minimalist cooks.
5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for sandwiches
Best grilled cheese sandwich pan ever. You can way overfill the bread so the cheese oozes put all around the edges and gets crispy. Make sure the pan is well greased first.
4.0 out of 5 stars Nice pan but short side walls
It's a great litte pan. Not sure on its best use though. Great for sunnyside up eggs. Scrambled eggs on the other hand are harder because of the short sides, easy to flick out food on accident.
5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect
Perfect size for a grill cheese sandwich
5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for so many things: eggs, sandwiches, snacks + EZ care & will last forever!
I have many pieces of Lodge cast iron and I love cooking with them--old recipes plus new ideas when I run across them. I wasn't sure about this pan--it seemed awfully small, and I wasn't sure that I would use it enough to justify having it, but I went ahead and ordered it anyway, thinking I could just use it as a spoon rest if it didn't work out. Well, I use it all of the time! Perfect for making eggs or toasted cheese and other sandwiches for one or two with no mess & no fuss--fast & easy and once the food is done, just a quick brush and a rinse and the clean-up is done, too. I am ordering a second one to use as a sort of press for panini style sandwiches...And as another reviewer mentioned, it works great as a trivet for larger skillets! Also great for making those fun & gorgeous large-enough-to-share cookies and brownies!
3.0 out of 5 stars Small
Would work for one egg or a samdwhich or single burger but is very small
ممتازة
حجمها مناسب ، لا يلتصق فيها البيض ، وزنها معقول
Muy bonito y funcional
Es pequeño pero es lo que necesito muy buena calidad y acabado, justo para una rebanada de pan
Game changer!
I've had my eye on this for some time before I finally pulled the trigger. I have to say once used a couple of times its seasoned well and has great non-stick properties. It really does give my egg and sausage sarnies the 'edge'!Good quality and solid build as expected from Lodge.
Misleading
Its very small and misleading productTheres no option for return tooMay palm is bigger than this skillet such a shame
Excellent Product at Excellent Price
It's been a few days now, I bought this Lodge pan for Rs. 1399. I love to eat and cook "bread omllete" and for me it's the best pan for cooking one. In past I've tried cheap so called non-stick pans from brands like "Nirlep" & "Tosa". But it is a real pain to cook in them as they are extremely thin. But this one is very solid and if you take little bit of care it can last for generations and will get better as you use it. Go to YouTube to learn about how to take care of cast iron pans. One can use it on gas stove, oven, induction and even on camp fire (Off course you don't want use metal in a microwave). Will buy more cast iron cookware in future.I'm a little bit disappointed with the packaging as it was not packed in a box and there was no bubble wrap up around it.
