5.0 out of 5 stars I'm giving this clay five stars because it is very nice to work with

It arrived with a consistency like cream cheese, perhaps a bit stiffer after it cooled off in the air conditioned room. When used in large quantities, it dries without any issue. When applied thinly, however, it cracks terribly, and so you need to be prepared to mix sand in with it or repair cracks. I only had this issue on clay-covered armatures where the clay was applied about a quarter-inch thick. Out of three busts made with this, all three heads -- where the clay is thickly applied -- dried fine, however, all three necks -- where the clay is applied thinly -- cracked severely to the point of chunks of clay completely breaking free and falling off.For practice clay, small projects, and similar, this clay is great. If you're looking for something to create your next masterpiece, this isn't the clay for you.
5.0 out of 5 stars My ally is Amaco clay, and a powerful ally it is
The only clay I use is sculpey because I don't own a kiln and I'm nervous about air dry. I'm not a professional and I've been nervous to use any other brands I'm unformiar with. So for my next piece I wanted it to be larger than my usual mini sizes, I decided to explore other clay. Keep in mind I did not purchase this with the intent to air dry, but for mold making. The brick I got was more than enough and plentiful for the price. It was well packaged and came on time. I dove right in, it took practice but once you get a feel at how moist you prefer the clay it's a fun material. The quality flawless to me, it's so smooth and fine. You can get extremely detailed with this stuff. I did leave a little out to dry to see how it would be. The dry pieces are frail and crumple easily, and since I am a durable type of gal I wouldn't use this for air dry. But it was perfect for mold making. This is my first mold and it came out really well after I used a casting resin on it. I was so happy with this stuff I got another box of it. Sculpey is now in the past, the force is strong with this stuff!
5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely great product! Good for beginners!
So, when I first went to buy this at the beginning of January, I was a little skeptacle. There were a ton of mixed reviews saying it dried cracked or is very brittle after drying. And I will have to say otherwise. I've been making little sculpted skeleton heads for wedding decorations and it's been a joy to work with. It takes at least a good 4-5 days to air dry completely. At first I keep it in a damp, dry location for the first day or two. Then I keep them in a very warm location (above my wood burning stove) in a ventilated shelf that's 5ft above the stove. And they've been turning out great. Completely solid, no cracks. Also, I was looking for a sealant just in case, but I couldn't find any I wanted and I wanted to get started on painting them. I just figured they're little decorations anyways. But so I started painting them with acrylics and it dries quick, and the color is great. It's a great product for practice, little decorations or gifts. I'm just a beginner so it's good for that too. But I absolutely love it and will totally buy it again if I need more decorations!
4.0 out of 5 stars Easy to use clay
This is a nice, easy to use air dry clay, it is not very sturdy once it is dry and it does shrink a small amount. Fairly similar to a low fire clay, in consistency and texture. Overall a good clay to use with children or for adults

5.0 out of 5 stars Oustanding
While laying in bed watching tv one night my girlfriend mentioned how she would like to learn sculpting. So I hopped on Bolo here and bought thiss clay thinking, Hey, its cheap and there is a lot of it, Will bbe good to start her out with. I ordered this on aa sunday night and it was at my door TUESDAY MORNING! I didn't order fast shipping or anything. The Clay itself reminds me of the clay we used to use in grade school. The sculpts I made then are still in tact so I could only hope this clay lasts as long. She made a little face figurine the first night she got the clay and we left it out overnight to see how it would air dry, and while somewhat brittle it kept its shape nicely! Will deff buy this again when we run out
3.0 out of 5 stars DOES NOT AIR DRY TO A FINISH
This is awesome clay like everyone says but the description is REALLY misleading. It IS CLAY THAT YOU HAVE TO FIRE IN A KILN TO GET A COMPLETE FINISH. Otherwise it's just a birttle temporary piece. I was looking for clay that only needs to air dry and does not need to be fired, and the description for this product makes it appear as though that's exactly what it is. However, as another reviewer stated, the label right on the box states otherwise. It's great clay. Just be aware that if you want a finished, solid piece, you'll have to fire it.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great clay, but you need to know how to use it properly.
This can be used in a kiln or left to air dry, but if it's left to air dry it will be much more fragile. It's also pretty important that you to know how to hollow out big projects if its going to be thicker then one inch on the inside. Hollow out the inside and make sure it's about an inch thick on the walls and interior of the project. You also need to put small air holes in the project so it can dry more evenly and especially if you put in the kiln.Whether air dried or put through a kiln it can be painted (if painted get some brand paint sealer to lock in the color) and is an all around great clay, very malleable and easy to work with, and great for experts or beginners.
Easy to use for kids too

And she loves using it. And it dries over night. Which is great when she’s making gifts from it.
