It works great & indeed is very sharp. After nicely slicing cucumbers, using the guide piece so I wouldn't get cut, and being a new product so I'm the extra cautious type, I set the mandolin aside & continued with my recipe. Instinctly, from my peripheral vision, I moved the mandolin without looking, at which point I cut my thumb rather deeply. So that's how I know how sharp it is. I won't be making that mistake again. I sure like that it's small & hand-held because you can put it directly over your bowl, it's easy to clean, & stores in a small space. This is so much easier than a $200 mandolin that I own & will probably never use again.

This works. A little too well. I thought it was a little cumbersome to use the gripper tool for potatoes and held it with my hand (planning to use the tool when the potato was shaven to a smaller more manageable size). This thing is so sharp that the potato glides over the blade so smoothly and fast, before I knew it my fingers were at the blade. Ended up cutting two fingers (thankfully, I stopped just in time but a small tip of my index finger was shaven as was the small piece from my middle finger’s knuckle). So , yes, this works really well. Just don’t be overly confident or dumb like me lol and use the gripper

Makes quick work of slicing potatoes and onions. And I haven't yet lost a finger tip. But you're best advised to use a knife proof glove for the hand you're using to slice - the blade is very sharp!

Got this for my fiancé for Christmas, she sliced her thumb open on it the first time using it. At the urgent care the doctor said there were 3 other patients in the urgent care who also sliced their fingers on this exact cutter. So I don’t know it’s no good or if it’s to good. It slice at your own risk.
