5.0 out of 5 stars Worked great
Easy install
5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely an improvement BUT
What a pain in the bleep to install. For what you pay for it, the fitment and quality of the product is absolutely frustrating. The directions are fantastic. I’ll give them that. Am i a mechanic? Absolutely not. I’m a handyma’am at best. But I’ve taken to enjoy working on restoring our 99 Tahoe 2 door. The rigidity of the tube and grand size of the box make for a very hard piece to install. You get one part in place, move to the next step and the last part pops off. I ended up tightening the filter on last as i was able to manipulate the box to slide the arm into place (once i finally got that part tightened enough). That being said, once we got it on and drove it, we definitely heard an improvement. It’s louder and you can feel it’s more responsive, a little more power.
5.0 out of 5 stars Fits good
A bit more power, good fitment.
1.0 out of 5 stars China
One thing I’ve learned about this cold air intake for the GMT 400. The plastic tube is not truly bent. It’s not truly round at the base going towards the throttlebody. It’s pretty much Chinese made garbage not worth $350. You could buy the filter by itself and by aftermarket aluminum tubing to work better and cheaper
3.0 out of 5 stars Good idea - Bad execution
The first order was missing parts. No biggee but my truck was already taken apart so that was inconvenient. Replacement order had the parts. I appreciate the other reviews on this item. They were correct. The 3 nuts were too short for the throttle body extension. Had to add a couple washers to each one. Also barely enough gasket to attach both clamps on throttle. K & N has always been my go to but….. instructions were terrible and easily screwed up. I don’t think i would buy this again. K & N is starting to slip a little. Crud.
4.0 out of 5 stars Great performance, ok construction.
Works great and makes a noticeable difference in acceleration / passing. A few complaints are the air filter box doesn’t mount very solid. Had to add extra bolts to make it solid. The air filter doesn’t have a strong connection on the end of the mass airflow adapter. Took some plastic pipe and put it inside of the rubber adapter so the filter could tighten down properly. Lastly some of the metal bands used to hold everything together felt cheap and didn’t tighten very well. Used some off of the old intake and it’s solid now. Overall a great product that is worth the performance difference but be ready to do some extra shoring up to make it solid.
5.0 out of 5 stars Top Quality, Great Looks, Great Performance
96 GMC Suburban K1500. This kit is a must have for any 1st generation Vortec motor. Quicker acceleration and better MPG to boot. My truck also sounds much louder under acceleration. Just remember to give the computer (PCM) time to adjust it's parameters to accommodate for this kit. You'll notice after a few miles, that your engine will pick up even more performance as the PCM fine tunes itself.*Update: I highly recommend the the throttle body mod with this intake. The mod consists of cutting off the diffuser under the throttle plate. It makes a huge difference in acceleration and sound. Search Youtube for tutorials on this.
5.0 out of 5 stars Wow and Wow!!
Ordered and installed this CAI in my 99 Suburban K1500 with a 5.7 liter with 249000 miles on it.. After prepping the box it took just under an hour to install. Took it out for a test drive getting onto the freeway. The throttle response was a big improvement. Driving at 70 mph and just stepping on it a little more you can hear the cool throaty noise and it just jumped right up to almost 80 mph instantly. So impressed so far with this setup. Would highly recommend this to anyone needing new life to an engine.
good
good but the picture is deceiving...i already purchase this kit and the filter was stainlesssteel with same logo on the pipe,,,this one is different ,,,,,fit great sound great
changement radical par rapport a celui d'usine.
amélioration pour un moteur qui respire mieux , je ne saurais pas dire exactement pour ce qui est des performances, ce n'étais pas mon but premier. a voir dans le temps...
The best quality from K&N as usually.
It's my second kit from K&N, first one was in FIAT and now in GMC.Great filters, very good quality and this sooooouuunnd when you accelerate! WoWLove it.
Does what it’s supposed to do
Perfect fit, instructions aren’t perfect but I’m mechanically inclines so was easy to figure out. Definitely notice a difference runs smoother and bit more get up and go.
The connections and fitting it up
I have a 1996 Chevy c1500 thunder edition. I ordered this intake after all said and done it came to 460$ And only took 4 days to come in I installed it and I am amazed it has a deep angry growl to it that sounds amazing it was easy to install the only thing wrong with it was that the rubber and the filter kept sliding off due to a oily substance on the connections, that’s the only complaint I have just gotta wipe off the oily stuff. But overall really impressed and would 100% recommend this intake to open up your vortec!
