5.0 out of 5 stars Love this! Lives up to the hype!!
This totally lives up to the hype. Besides being stupid easy to store and clean, it lets you dial in how thing you want your veggies. I've used mandolins before but often you're stuck with certain sizes. 3mm, 6mm, etc. This one you can dial in exactly how thin you want your veggies and with the extra blades, exactly what shape/form. It really makes for some unique things I may not have done otherwise when it comes to using certain veggies as garnishes.Overall we've had this for 6 months or so and it's held up to everything we've thrown at it. In the picture is red cabbage that without a nice sharp knife, can be a tough one to cut, especially to cut into equal sizes, and this handled it perfectly. I find myself using veggies I shied away from before because of its ease of us.This is 100% an excellent addition to your kitchen, doesn't take up a ton of space, will make you better when it comes to creativity and what you use in your cook, especially garnishment or anything where you want things get super small, and looks great!Probably it's best attribute is it's simple to use. a couple screws, swap out a blade, another screw dials in thickness. it's about as easy as it gets. Just watch your hands! The blades are sharp!
5.0 out of 5 stars But it!
Over the years I’ve tried several brands. I found this at the recommendation of a friend who is a chef. What a great find! It is pro-sharp, and controllable to achieve even the thinnest slices. The blades have to be manually added and the instructions could be better, but once assembled, the tool is sturdy and excellent.
5.0 out of 5 stars Don’t be surprised that it’s made in Japan. It’s a Japanese style mandoline.
I’ve owned several mandolines, in various styles. This is my favorite one. Although I love a French style mandoline, they’re large and expensive. This is small, light, sturdy, and sharp. It’s uncomplicated, so it has less parts that can break. The only parts that would ever need to be replaced are the blades. Japanese style mandolines have become chef’s economic choice.
5.0 out of 5 stars The ideal mandoline slicer
I use this almost every day and it makes quick work of meal prep. One of the best mandoline slicers I've ever used. I recommend buying a chainmail glove to protect your hand. Even with the slicing guard that comes with the mandoline, accidents can still occur. Due to the sharpness of the blade and design, I haven't experienced any incidents, though (which is nice because this occurs with other brands).
5.0 out of 5 stars Best Ever!
It's perfect and would have paid much more for it! Super easy to use and change the different blades on, small and light so easy to store, works amazingly with low effort, truly the best of all time, a timeless favorite. No need for anything fancy, this will do what you need. Don't forget to use the guard though, the blades will cut off the tip of your finger (said through experience!)
4.0 out of 5 stars It slices very small pieces
It took me a while to understand how to cut thin julienne carrots. The manual has instructions but they are a little confusing. This mandolin did a great job cutting carrots and zucchini 1 mm Julienne thin. The onion was also sliced transparently thin to make the stir fry.It does require some dexterity to handle this mandolin. You do have to be extremely careful when cutting veggies, specifically hard one such as carrots. I suggest wearing protective gloves too.My complain is that it stains. I let it soak in hot soapy water but the carrots stained it.The thin julienne makes the food taste completely different. It’s a nice gasket.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great quality, easy to use
I recently purchased the Benriner Japanese Vegetable Slicer and I am extremely impressed with its performance. It's extremely easy to use and makes slicing vegetables a breeze. The blades are extremely sharp and easily cut through vegetables with minimal effort. The design is simple, yet effective, and the suction base keeps the slicer securely in place while in use. It's also very easy to clean and maintain. I highly recommend this vegetable slicer to any home cook looking for an efficient and reliable tool to add to their kitchen. Five stars!
5.0 out of 5 stars High quality, simple design
As you might expect, this Japanese made kitchen tool is well made, in terms of material and simplicity of design. I opted for this model, which does not include a catch bin, because I felt that wouldn't be necessary for my primary purpose, which is to quickly slice cucumbers for salads. It's easy to to hold one end up as you slice over a plate, or leave flat over a convenient container, so a specially designed catch bin is not needed, unless you really want one and don't mind spending more and having a tool that takes up more space. The material is a durable plastic, not the cheap, brittle sort that similar models are typically made of. The blades a sharp (duh), so be safe and use the included guard/holder thingy where appropriate. Alternate blades are included for different cutting styles, and they're easy to to swap.
