5.0 out of 5 stars Cool On My Stool...
I tend to overdo the research for items when it comes time to replace/repair. These Bolo reviews have changed the old way of guessing & hoping an online order will suffice. But I still tend to research the researchers reviews...a good way to waste a lot of time. Knowledge is king and one can be further educated by sifting through the reviews. I was comfortable buying this Spectra Premium CU1693 radiator for my 1999 C1500 Suburban 2WD and confident that it was the proper radiator to fit my application.First noticed my coolant overflow tank on the passenger side firewall under the hood would not hold coolant. Checked to make sure the plastic tank had not developed a crack in a seam or a hole...no such luck. I had already done the 5.7's famous intake gasket replacement as well as the factory "quick-connect" that tends to go bad. So my trusty 'Burb's radiator had begun to leak a small spot on my driveway. Left front corner of the vehicle...it was kinda hard to detect exactly where the coolant was coming from but with my well-reviewed LED super bright hand held spot light, I was able to see the green coolant seeping from a very small hairline crack in the left (driver's side) plastic tank about 2 inches below the top cooler fitting.Looks like a big job but it's not really. I'm no pro but I am thorough and I tend to help friends and family that are convinced they cannot pull off mechanical tasks such as this for whatever reason. I am still invited to family beach gatherings each summer and I still have a friend or two left so I must be doing something right.Only thing I could add to the already good reviews is to grab a can of PB Blaster or similar spray lubricant (Kroil is the best but not always easy to lay your hands on at common parts houses). Squirt around the fittings for the oil coolers lines and the auto transmission cooler fittings...top & bottom, a day or two before doing the rad replacement. You can install this radiator from the top mostly but I went underneath to remove the lower radiator shroud so I could clean everything out really well and do a little inspecting in the area while the radiator was out of the vehicle. On my almost 20 year old 'Burban, there are 2 lower shroud screws in the center portion of the shroud that had rusted to the small clips pretty badly. A squirt here on these 2 screws may help get these out easier but they may be rusticularly welded (new word for your word of the day, Bill O'Reilly...use that if you like). If they're like mine, you will have to use a little muscle to snap the screws and replace with new ones. No prob...the handy dandy "HELP" rack at your local parts place has clips and screws if you don't have a collection in your coffee cans on the garage shelf. Or simple nut/bolt with washers will suffice or even a couple plastic ties cinched up tight will hold that section as long as you have the other screws/clips in place. My search for radiators included the text (No Oil Cooler Fittings) and that threw me off. But be assured, this Spectra Premium CU1693 rad DOES have fittings for both oil & trans and they are located precisely where all four lines will connect. As noted in other reviews, there are adapters included, if your application requires them. Support your lines while applying force to loosen or tighten. New clamps are not expensive if you don't reuse the old ones. If changing these, be sure to position the hex head/screw slot on these clamps in a convenient position to get at 'em in the future.Easy peasy...now I am once again cool on my stool with my knees in the breeze.
4.0 out of 5 stars 4 stars for price and convenience
Had to get adapters for the transmission lines, but priced right and arrived quickly.. Not sure how long it will last but I have my fingers crossed.
1.0 out of 5 stars Radiator was defective and leaked.
The radiator I received was defective and leaked. I had to return it. Due to time constraints with my vehicle inoperable, I had to purchase a different radiator locally at significantly higher cost. Not happy.
5.0 out of 5 stars awesome
The item works great.
5.0 out of 5 stars Good as factory one
The price was on the money 💰
3.0 out of 5 stars 3/4 ton buyers be careful
Bought this for a 1994 chevy 2500 (light duty 3/4 or heavy duty 1/2 ton ) the radiator bolted rite in has the oil cooler and trans cooler hook ups everything lined up perfectly however the actual cooling runners are about 3/4 of an inch narrower than stock I'm not much concerned with that as I don't do alot of towing or heavy hauling perfect for 1/2ton applications
fit was perfect
Fit was perfect, other than being a couple of weeks late. Kind of not a big deal as I have other vehicles to drive. Supply chains are screwed up so not totally unexpected. Time will tell if the rad will last but so far, I'm very Happy with it.
Perfect fit
I ordered this item thinking that since it is manufactured in Canada it would come from Quebec. The item was actually shipped from Indiana and arrived in 5 days. It is a drop-in and fits perfectly. It came with an engine oil cooler and transmission oil cooler. I don't need or use the engine oil cooler so I just left the plugs in it that it came with. Very pleased with the product and the shipping. Thank you very much for the excellent service.
Easy to install
Product fit my 1995 k2500 with 350 v8 without any problems, am not a professional, watch a YouTube video, had in and out on the side of the road with basic hand tools. Remember to top off oil and transmission fuilds when completed as you will lose about half of quart of each
