Wasa is the world's largest producer of crispbread. Every year the company sells around 60,000 tons of crispbread in 40 countries. The Swedes eat more crispbread than any other people in the world, almost 4 kilograms per capita. Wasa's largest markets outside Sweden are the other Scandinavian countries and Germany, closely followed by Poland, the Netherlands, France, and the USA. However, crispbread as a category exists almost everywhere.
Wasa, which has a staff of around 950 people, has been owned by the Barilla Group since 1999. The head office is in Stockholm, Sweden, and the company has production facilities in Filipstad in Sweden, Celle in Germany, and Hamar in Norway.
The name Wasa has its roots in an old Swedish word, vase, which means sheaf. Since the 14th century, the coat of arms of the first king of Sweden, Gustav Vasa, and his family has featured a stylized sheaf. Gustav Vasa was sometimes called the "Rye King". No-one knows exactly where the name comes from, but it may have its origins in the fact that the king demanded that his people pay their taxes in the form of rye, a valuable commodity at the time. For many years, Wasa used a picture of the Rye King on its packaging. This was later replaced by a royal crown above the name. Today, the crown has been evolved to a crown-sheaf which represents the origins of Wasa. It also lends a royal air to crispbread, something which is also reflected in the fact that the company has been appointed purveyor to His Majesty the King of Sweden.

5.0 out of 5 stars Healthy was to snack - guilt-free
I am on my second 12-pack case of these healthy, crispy multigrain crackers. Lots of fiber, no fat or added sugar, and low on sodium. They don't break or crumble when spreading cream cheese or other toppings on them. However, I would recommend eating these crackers with some kind of spread or dip, as they are rather plain in taste.
5.0 out of 5 stars fluffy, low cal, delicious
These are the best crackers. They are fluffy and lightweight, but they hold together and make a nice base for a cracker with cheese or meat. I am always trying to reduce caloric intake, so I typically eat them plain to stave off appetite.
5.0 out of 5 stars I love this.
I love this. Great replacement for bread or crackers. Great with soup. Great with eggs. Great with avocado. Melt some Swiss on it. Yummy!Sorry if I sound like a commercial. It’s really good and guilt free eating.
5.0 out of 5 stars Healthy Food
These crispbread slices are a very good addition to one's diet, but also make a very good snack on their own. M. Jolly
5.0 out of 5 stars When you want a crunchy base that doesn't;t interfere with the flavor of the spread
Does this even have a flavor?Probably. But it is so negligible that you are basically getting a crunchy platform for whichever deliciousness you put on top. Some things shine as the supporting cast and this does not disappoint! Not Great for:- just eating alone- putting soggier toppings and then leaving them uneaten for 30 minutes or moreGreat for:- preserving the flavor of the topping,- not contributing too many empty calories to a meal (I'd rather add more topping than bread),- crispy crunchiness- preserving the roof of your mouth from being torn up by crunchy starches (I'm looking at you, tortilla chips)
4.0 out of 5 stars Good price
These and other Wasa crackers are my go-to evening snack. While I prefer another variety that is thicker, these are fine with sardines, peanut butter and other toppings. A lot of nutrition for few calories.
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent plus.
Assuming easy to spread means easy to put potted meats or cream cheese on them? They... didn't do well with that question.I ordered these hoping for crackers which would work with a ketosis diet and diabetes. A lot of labels look good, but when the food hits the table, it doesn't work. These work exceptionally well! I have used them for snack, with cream cheese and deli meats, in the place of crackers in several ways, and have used them to replace croutons! I absolutely love croutons, and these work for that.Further, they haven't spiked my blood sugar, and don't seem to cause any odd problems. On top of that, I was expecting a bunch of tiny crackers. Like toy food. Many breads, and such, for keto, are very small. Using serving size as a work-around that really doesn't work. These are full size crackers, and more. Plus, the serving size isn't half or a third of a cracker. It is, by my count, six crackers (individual squares). They arrive in two squares per cracker, and my diet can easily allow three of those if I so desired.I am extremely happy with everything about these. Finally, I can have crackers, with soup, as croutons, with sardines, and in so many ways. Just a few times a week, and rarely the whole allowed amount, but... very happy. And they actually taste good. I'm not sacrificing, by eating wallpaper tasting stuff. This actually almost tastes sweet. Like a ritz type cracker. But a wheaty sweet. Very happy.
Buena calidad
Es muy sabroso y saludable. No está hecho en Suecia sino en Alemania. Muy práctico tener en casa cuando de repente hace falta un pan fresco.
Each package had "issues"
Unfortunately the "Whole Grain" Wasa is unavailable in Canada - and I am "addicted". Since I am at my residence in Canada, there was no choice but to purchase the product online and have it shipped (for an astronomically high fee). The product that arrived must have been the rejects that would not make it to store shelves. The first package I opened had the whole top under the ring wrapper brown - apparently the "dust" from Wasa crackers - along the entire area where the package comes together at the top. The next package included largely broken crackers. The next had the top partly open thereby exposing the crackers to the humidity and the environment in general. I have opened 5 packages, and every single one had "issues". Never have I had any such problems in purchasing crackers at grocery stores in California. Very disappointed, and feel ripped off.
