Great product, recommended by my vet. Seems to help my aging cat and that's all that counts. Mixing it up with his wet cat food. Eats everything. No detection by my cat.

Works as well as the shots for a much cheaper price. I use 2 pills a day for my 16 year old cat. I sprinkle it on her wet food. She enjoys the food and there no specific taste to have her reject her meal.

I have a very finicky rescue cat who is now over 12 years old and a bit over weight. She tolerates no medicines at all so I have to treat her through food or risk injury. (She has bitten one vet already) She has shown great improvement in mobility like jumping up on her perches since I started mixing these into her tuna which she looks forward to. I have no doubt that these are helping with strain on her joints. I noticed that she slowed down slightly when I ran out so I ordered more.

Seems like it might help after just a few doses, but also seems like my kitties don't like the taste.My older cats get wet food or paste (like Nulo tubes or Tiki toppers) as a treat vs their normal dry food. I tried adding a half to whole capsule worth of powder (less than a whole dose) either on top of their paste or mixed in, and they very clearly noticed the difference and stopped eating after a moment. Oops.One capsule pictured with a US Dollar Coin for scale.The wet treats they get are VERY strong flavored based on the smell, so this stuff must taste pretty obviously bad to them. Not sure if Nutramax could have done something to improve the flavor.But it seemed to help to mix the powder into water and add THAT to the wetfood, but even then I'm hesitant to give them more than a half capsule to each. In my mind, it's like my sucking on a glucosamine tablet. Once the coating breaks down, it's not tasty. Eating is one of kitties true pleasures, and it's important to not take that away from them by ruining the flavor of their favorite treats.But I DO see some extra vitality in them from just the mini doses, and since they won't touch the Nutramax chews (after the first few days, they ignore them) this is my current best bet to help ease their aging joints.

"Urinary crystals?" you ask? Glucosamine helps to replenish glycosaminoglycan, an element in the lining of the cat's stomach. This lining helps prevent urinary crystals, which can be fatal if untreated.One of my cats, 2 years old, twice had blockages from urinary crystals. At the second incident, the veterinarian prescribed 2 pills per day with a meal (the big boy cat is a 17 pounder - I believe under 10 pounds takes just 1 per day). I also feed him wet cat food intended for urinary tract health (Pro Plan Canned Cat Food, Adult Extra Care Urinary Tract Chicken Entrée In Gravy, 3-Ounce Cans (Pack of 24)), and I add 1/8 cup of water to a 3oz cat of food with the meal that gets the 2 pills of medicine. I add the water to the food because he refuses to drink from a bowl or cat fountain.The 2 prior incidents occurred 3-4 months apart. Fortunately, since starting this new regimen of combined medicine with additional water and special cat food, it has been about 5 months with no scares.The medicine comes in powder form inside of a pill. I prepare and mix the water with the wet cat food, and then pull the plastic pill apart and spread the powdered medicine on top of the well-mixed food (not too wet or the cat doesn't like it). The medicine is flavored and sometimes the cat will eat only the powder as a treat and come back later for the food/water combo. Whether it's the cat food, the extra water, the pills, or a combination - my cat is healthier.This price on Bolo is stellar. I have purchased several bottles and the quality seems consistent from purchase to purchase. 5 stars, highly recommended.EDIT 12/8/13. It has now been over a year since I have been administering the Cosequin in conjunction with a pure wet food diet ph balanced for cats with crystals (aforementioned Purina Pro Plan, and Friskies special diet for urinary health). I also add quite a bit of water. The cat has been crystal-free. I did take him to the vet once for what I thought was a crystal scare, but it turned out to be stress induced inflammation and he was not blocked with crystals. I'm going to keep up with this great product. Give it a shot!EDIT 9/16/2020. I am still giving the cat 1 pill per day (down from 2 at onset). This cat has not had a crystal episode for 8 years! I don’t know if it’s the diet, the pill, or a combination, but I’m not stopping! Very affordable way to help pet quality of life. I recommend this stuff wholeheartedly and stand by my 5 star rating!EDIT July 2024:This cat is still alive at 14 years old and still has not had another bladder incident. In fact, he’s now in better health than his brother from the same litter who we thought was the healthy one. He’s still getting 1 pill per day, and the brother I’m giving 2 every other day to help with his arthritis. The bladder cat is down to 13 pounds and is full of vitality and energy and no signs of arthritis. Maybe these pills have had a double-benefitting effect? I plan to continue giving these pills until they pass away. 5 stars, all the way.I still feed Purina Pro Plan Urinary (chicken) for 1 meal but the other meals are now Weruva flavors that have pumpkin included. They both started having constipation in their old age and the pumpkin seems to assist. Totally unrelated to the pills, but just anecdotal data. He also still refuses to drink water so we continue with mixing in with the urinary food, and putting the pill on top of that meal. They gobble it up.

My cat is a larger cat, pretty sure she is a Maine Coon. She is 16 years old. Whenever I would pet her from head to tail, she would cry out when I got to her hips. I put this in her canned food, and she does not cry out in pain anymore. I believe it's extending her life. I'm so grateful!
Improves cats joints
I love this product as both of my cat have problems with their joints. It takes a few months for it to work for them but it really does work. My cats don’t notice the taste as I put it in their wet food and mix it up. No more limping!

Helped my cat so much, 100% recommend!
Cosequin has helped my (small adult) cat so much with pain and stiffness. Prior to taking Cosequin, she would sleep all day, rarely play, and when she moved she looked very stiff. Within 1 week I was seeing improvements on her stiffness. Within a month she wasn't sleeping all day, she was greeting people and seeking attention, and even playing with her toys and even her dog brother. This product has helped her so much. 5/5 stars!

Working well
I purchased this for my senior girl and her mobility has really improved. While the packaging said a cat over 10 pounds should start with 2 capsules a day for a month then reduce to 1 capsule, that didn't really suit her tummy, so I dropped it to 1. Within a few days she was happier, more relaxed and playful. Walking and climbing better and even trying out the zoomies a bit. Her fur is not long, but it has always been very thick and I noticed an improvement to the texture. She gets pumpkin in a tablespoon every day, so open a capsule and sprinkle it, and she cleans that spoon completely so I am relieved she doesn't object to the supplement. I love my girl very much, she's smart, affection and a cuddle bug, and I was getting worried about her joint pain in her senior years because taking medicine is that hill she will die on before she takes any, regardless of how tricky you get, so lapping this up with her pumpkin is such a relief. She's back to laying on her back, stretching out her arms and legs wide, so she can get the body/tummy massage she loves without being uncomfortable.
