5.0 out of 5 stars More powerful than you might think.

I was concerned about buying this small compressor, but it works extremely well for my 2” brad nailer and stapler. Depending on the wood, typically, I can get six or seven pops before it needs to recharge. Refills the tank quickly as soon as it drops a couple of pounds of pressure. Excellent compressor for a DIY’er or trim carpenter. It is small, lightweight, and extremely easy to use. Dewalt makes great tools.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect off-grid air compressor

    T. · April 23, 2024

Used to lug around a heavy dual chamber air compressor this overkill for most projects. Occasionally we need an air compressor off-grid powered by a honda 2000W generator. That genny easily kicks this Dewalt air compressor. It does run more often then a larger capacity compressor but its very quiet... and did i mention light! Really like this unit. More refined that our commercial compressor. One thing to consider is the controls placement - the arrangement does lend itself to future breakage. Controls are not well protected. As this was designed for portability some extra care taken to protect controls should have taken priority.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great physically small compressor for motorhome.

    S.F. · August 31, 2024

I wanted a compressor for our motorhome with enough pressure and volume to inflate the 19 inch tires on the motorhome and the 17 inch tires on our towed pickup.I looked at the 12v units but they all have limited duty cycle and pump relatively slow. They are also expensive. This compressor fits nicely in a basement compartment with its hose and fittings. It has no problem reaching the max 120PSI the rv tires are rated for and works fine at the 80psi we actually run. While it is certainly slower than my home, 220 v compressor, it is livable to fill a truck tire. Being a 120v unit it basically has a 100% duty cycle so I can fill 6 rv tires if I need to with it cooling off to meet duty cycle. It also gives me the ability to refill the tires on our towed Chevy Colorado ZR2 if I want or need to 'air down' for the terrain. Our motorhome has 1000 Watts of solar and a 3000 watt inverter backed by a large LiPO battey, so in any practical scenario, I can effectively run the compressor as much as I need to.For my special need it has proved the perfect answer. Now if it could only run a 1/2 inch air powered impact wrench...LOL

4.0 out of 5 stars DEWALT D55140 compressor review

    D.R. · March 1, 2012

    I tested using a DEWALT 51238K nail gun; driving 1.5" 18 gauge brads through 1/2" MDF and into a moderately dense 2x2 as a test, about as fast as I cared to place them. The compressor had no problem feeding the gun; when the pressure did drop the tank recharged nicely, its not too loud. I'm very happy.One minor initial annoyance: The tank charged perfectly after the break-in; but as soon as I turned the regulator to pressurise the main line, the all the air bleeds out from what feels like the back of the regulator knob, and line pressure is stuck at 0.I searched for a solution online and didnt find anything; Rather than just return the unit I took the black faceplate off, charged the tank for a few seconds (10-20psi) and had a feel around as I turned the regulator - it appeared the air was coming directly from the base of the regulator knob; I discharged the tank, slipped a small flat blade under the retaining pin pushing it out, away from the barrel (you can see it as a shiny dot near the base of the knob) and fully unscrewed the knob.Inside I find a grease covered spring, and under that a plastic valve cap; I gently lifted both out with a pair of needle nose pliers and it is immediately obvious why the valve is leaking - the O ring that is supposed to be around the base of the floating value is sitting loose in the bottom of the chamber.To fix it: Extract the O-ring and check for damage, mine had none - so I wiped a little of the excess grease onto it and put it back onto the bottom of the plastic valve; put the value in the base of the barrel, put the spring back on top of the value; and the knob on top of the spring, and screwed it about halfway down. I pressed the retaining pin back in and turned the knob fully counterclockwise to check it was properly secure and re-assembled the unit.Power-Up; tank charges, turn the regulator to varying pressures from 20-130 the outlet pressurises.A 5 minute fix, saving me the return hassle.As I said, I'm very pleased with the unit - if it had just worked I would give it 5 stars; because I had to fix it I'm giving it 4 and I'm leaving this review with my fix in case others have a similar problem and feel like fixing it themselves.The usual disclaimers apply;

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Good DeWalt Design

    C.W. · June 12, 2010

I needed a lightweight, portable compressor to allow me to take my various nail guns to work on friends and relatives projects. Others had given this DeWalt pretty good marks, and the price is certainly right. I always appreciate the thought that DeWalt puts into tool design...once in a while, they miss an ergonomic feature, but it's clearly not for lack of effort. This guy carries easily, will stand up for storage, and sits on rubber feet when in use, so it's quiet and stays put. Large, easy to read pressure guages, and easy to adjust regulator. Very quiet in operation...ideal for inside use...doesn't even startle the cats.Plenty of oomph for all but the heaviest-duty uses. I wouldn't shingle a roof with it, but it keeps up with any finish work I do, and adequate for framing if you take a little time.Others reviewers mentioned the break-in procedure. It's somewhere in the manual after pages of the usual caution/warning stuff. Wouldn't have known about it otherwise (you'd think they would put an advisory label over the power switch, or something visible like that.) Anyway, it's nothing more than 'open the drain valve and let it run for awhile' deal....but given the early failures a few other reviewers had, I'll take DeWalt's advice.Had it for a month, and have used it several times. All in all, another terffic DeWalt value.

Excelente producto. Cumple 100% con la descripción del producto.

    Great little unit...

    H.R. · April 22, 2018

I love this unit; it’s light, quiet and more than handles the job it was designed for. I do a lot of residential renovation trim and finish work were most times the homeowner is at home while the work is being done. This air compressor is so quiet, when the motor kicks in to recharge I can comfortably work beside it. During recharging, my larger heavy duty air compressor would spook pets and frighten small children, so much so that most times I would often leave it outside and run a hose into through the home to my work area. This is not very realistic during the winter months or cold wet days and at the very least creates a trip hazard. For small jobs, this unit has even handled my framing air nail gun. No more extension cords or rolls of air hose for me, all I need is a 12-foot hose and I can plug into any normal household electrical outlet. At only 25 pounds, I don’t think I have to mention how much my back loves this unit.

Potencia suficiente para clavadora neumatica y no tan ruidoso

Wonderful little compressor... if you have a use for it...

    D. · December 13, 2016

Wonderful little compressor... It's incredibly quiet compared with other compressors, it only draws 3 Amps or so, it holds the pressure, it has a regulator to adjust output pressure... but I don't know what it could be used for, because in a shop or for renovation jobs it's too small... Would be enough for a brad nail gun, and almost enough for a finish nail gun... but how much sense does it make to have a tiny compressor just for your brad nail gun?!...Maybe for an artist to do airbrush stuff...I don't know...I planned to use it to power a flooring tool, brad nail gun, finishing nail gun... It only holds one gallon of compressed air and only at 135 PSI... The engine runs almost continuously - it's just too small for such use....(I returned it and went for the next bigger model - 2.5 American gallons @200 psi)However, I was impressed how well it worked and how quiet it was...
