5.0 out of 5 stars Great for School Projects
This product is perfect for the kids needing to create planets for their school projects. it comes non painted and the person must paint the planets and place them on the stand. it comes with clear instructions and how to position the students need to place them in to be able to talk about the planets. It is kind of small and is not really easy to carry with out it falling a part but it is really easy to put back together. The reason for the 4 star on assemble is due to the fact that you have to place the rings on saturn and it being small makes it hard to put in place. Depending the age of the person may need some adult help to get it put together.
4.0 out of 5 stars My six year old was very pleased.
My daughter is in first grade. We were in the process of moving into a new home, but she still wanted to enter the Science Fair at her school. I didn't want to do anything too stressful, the move was stressful enough. So we decided to do research on why Pluto is no longer considered a planet. Easy, simple. This model was the perfect visual aid. It was easy to assemble, and it's a lot of fun for her to manually rotate the planets around the sun now that it is complete. Our only problem was that the portions of paint provided were very small. Certain colors (brown and orange) are not included, and when we mixed them using other colors... we wasted too much and ended up with not enough yellow in the end.Great product, especially for such a low price. Just be careful. Don't waste the paint!
5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for my kids Earth project
If your child has a school project to make a model or picture of the Earth, there's a kit that could be perfect for the task. It's easy to assemble and even a six-year-old child can paint the Earth and Moon with little help. The Earth and Moon pieces are in two halves that click together easily. The kit comes with etched printing on both pieces, with the Earth showing continents and islands to help with painting. You can choose to add glow-in-the-dark paint, but it's optional. One of the best features of this kit is that the Earth spins and the Moon rotates around it, which makes it fun for kids. The movement may be tight and squeaky at first, but it will loosen up over time. The Earth and Moon slide off easily if the whole thing is picked up, but if you keep it in one place, it's perfect for displaying your child's work. Overall, this kit is great for school projects or just for display.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great, Simple, Fun, and Small
I'd give this 4.5 stars if that were an option (and why isn't it an option, by the way?). It was perfect for our needs as an elementary home school family. My first grader loved it and was able to learn from the 3D, hands-on experience. There's no better way to learn an abstract concept. I snapped the planets together and sanded them slightly with the sandpaper square to "rough them up" before painting, as suggested. My seven-year-old and I snapped them into position on the model and then painted them together. The paint adhered to the planets very well. The glow paint didn't work well when we mixed it with other paints, but it did work well on the planets that we applied it to as a top layer (just a little FYI). This model is very small, but that works well for us. Just for reference, the "sun" is about the size of a ping pong ball. Jupiter is about the size of a giant marble, maybe a bit larger. The planets and distances between are not to scale but served our purpose well. We were wanting to learn about orbits, positions of the planets, and sequence from the sun. The only thing I would have liked to change was the fact that the set doesn't include Pluto. Yes, I know it's no longer considered a planet as it is now considered a "dwarf planet". Still, I would've liked to have it in the set.

Great gift for a 6 year old
Not worth the money
For this price the quality of the planets is not up to the mark (some of the planets don't fit properly). The size of the planets is also very small, the continents of earth are not clearly visible. It would have been good if the final structure of the toy (after assembly) was stable. At present the planets keep falling off even with slightest tilt.
