5.0 out of 5 stars Efficient and Easy to Use for Rear Differential Fluid Change

    J. · June 30, 2024

I recently used the Mityvac 1.5 Liter Manual Fluid Extractor/Dispenser to change the rear differential fluid on my 2017 Honda CRV Touring, and it performed exceptionally well. The extractor/dispenser is well-made and feels durable, providing confidence in its longevity. The 1.5-liter capacity is perfect for my needs, and it made the fluid change process straightforward and hassle-free. The manual pump action is smooth and efficient, allowing me to extract and dispense the fluid with ease. One of the standout features is the clear container, which makes it easy to monitor the fluid level and ensure the right amount is used. The unit also includes various attachments that fit snugly, preventing any leaks or spills during the process.Overall, the Mityvac 1.5 Liter Manual Fluid Extractor/Dispenser is a fantastic tool for anyone looking to perform their own fluid changes. It’s efficient, easy to use, and well worth the investment. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Favorite syringe-type pump thus far!

    A. · March 24, 2016

I have purchased quite a few of tools like this ranging from 'syringe'-type pumps such as this tool to inline-type pumps and screw-on pumps and so far this has been my favorite one. This is for a few reasons, but most of all because the unit clamps down on the hose and locks it in place. This is extremely useful when dealing with more viscus fluids like gear oil. All the other tools I've used don't have this feature and if you apply too much force (which, to begin with, can be difficult with some tools) the hose pops off due to the transference of pressure and you end of spraying fluid everywhere. In addition to the locking hose it is very easy to apply force through the plunger with everything working extremely well. I just changed the fluid in a differential and it made quick work of filling the unit back up.The tool is very well constructed as far as I can tell with graduated markings on the working portion of the tube. My only gripe is the total capacity is fairly small, but this can be adventageous as well as some of the larger tools are considerably less wieldy. In addition to this the included manual provides the part numbers for the consumable parts (i.e. Plunger seals) which should be useful if you plan on keeping the tool for a long while. One of the issues with these types of tools is the dealing with different types of fluid and preventing cross-contamination. This tool disassembles easily for cleaning, but if you regularly fully clean the tool your accelerating the rate at which the seals will fail. Being able to procure replacements is key in the long run.The next job I plan on tackling with the tool (and original reason I bought it to be honest as I have other pumps I can use to fill transmissions/differentials as I had previously mentioned) is pulling the brake fluid out of my brake calipers so I can change them. Hopefully the size of the tube and what have you accommodates my bleed valves and there is enough volume to properly pull the fluid out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Convenient and small

This pump works great for a mobile mechanic solution, however dispensing/sucking up thick fluids like gear oil are difficult. I found it necessary to place the plunger on my chest and use both arms pulling the tool against myself to dispense gear oils. But it works! And it's small!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great value, works well, so helpful for fluid drains and refills!

Used this product for rear end gear oil refresh. Worked great. No leaks, product was solid and worked exactly as advertised. Very pleased with the product, the sellers fast shipping and packaging methods ensured the product reached me unscathed. Great buy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Little pricey, but is a great tool to have for a DIY'er

Simple pump system thats works quite effieciently. Comes with 3 different diameter tubes, 2 of which are smaller diameter to fit dipsticks, and one large tube. The evacuator itself is about 3 1/2 feet tall give or take. Definitely of thick, heavy, dense, quality plastic, so breaking or wear on the evacuator is minimal. It is like a bike pump, you pump it up and down. There is a cylinder in the middle that is seperated by plastic from fluid. So there is no fluid cross contamination or worries about fluid getting into the pump, everything is sealed nicely. The handle is a nice sturdy size and the vertical piece connecting to the pump is about a 1/2 inch in diameter and doesnt feel like it is flimsy. I pumped quite violently and hard and it stood up without issue. There is a small U shaped kick stand that keeps the Mityvac balanced while pumping. The tubes come with seperate adapters that are each FOR THAT TUBE, MIXING TUBES AND TUBE ADAPTERS WILL RESULT IN POOR SUCTION. The adapter goes into the pour spout, which stays snugly with its two ridged seals.I used it 3 times so far, one for a TDi engine oil change, a Lincoln oil change, and a lawn mower oil change. Worked great for all three and got ALL the oil out.I definitely reccomend this if you do your own oil changes. Saves time, effort, and will last. Only thing that sucks is the price at $70, but I believe it can last for a very long time without problemsBiggest thing for me is I dont need to jack my car up to get to the oil pan, but for cars that have filters underneath and NEED to be jacked, It gets rid of having oil splash all over you and minimize cleaningTips-For oil, make sure the oil is warm or somewhat hot, but NOT AT FULL OPERATING TEMP. YOU WILL MELT THE TUBES. Wait until the temperature is about halfway between COLD and NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE. The oil will be warm enough to come out smoothly.-Make sure the tube adapter is dry and not wet at all, it helps with the seal- Pour out fluid into a different container each time you do a fluid change, you dont want dirt and grime to sit in the Mityvac-Pump at a continuous rate, I find that a full pump every 2 seconds is good enough to keep a good flow going-Clean adapters and hoses after each use, fluid will get stuck and be a pain later on. Just pump the fluid out into the MItyvac until the line is clear. If the fluid is too thick. remove the tube, place it vertically so that the fluid will drip out into a container, it may take some time but it does the trick-The tube adapter goes into "2nd adapter", you can pull it out with pliers and make pouring easierP.S. oil change for my car took 5 minutes total
