It is an involved kit that is very thorough. You will need assistance with some parts. Pick a time when you and a friend have 30 minutes to dedicate and approach it as a bit of an adventure! The only downside I saw is the tool and the instructions to measure your facial type. It is not very easy to use and the instructions are a bit confusing. Still worth it!

A well written and informative book for clinician and patient alike. Does a great job with a very common problem rarely diagnosed correctly and even less often treated correctly. The information will improve the lives of many, from stressed out mom to over-trained athlete and over-worked executive.Well done!
1.0 out of 5 stars Misnomer - This is a Phenotyping Kit based on pseudoscience
Several direct-to-consumer companies (23andme, Navigenics, deCODEme) are now offering personal genotyping services for between $999 and $2500. So I was intrigued to discover this "Genotyping Kit" for only $14.95 - it is a companion to the book by D'Adamo and Whitney: The GenoType Diet: Change Your Genetic Destiny to live the longest, fullest and healthiest life possible. I'll describe the contents of the kit shortly but let me say first that the authors take great liberties with their definition of the word "genotype" (but then again, the more accurate title "The Gene Expression Regulation and Embryological Epigenetic DNA Methylation Diet" probably didn't go anywhere with the publisher). The kit is shipped in an envelope that also contains advertisements and price lists for many additional products including the "GenoType Diet Supplement System" and "Genoma Skin(TM) Day Light Face Cream." The kit itself contains 8 items: two fold-up pamphlet worksheets entitled "Easy-Typing Guide" and "Advanced Calculator" where you record several specific PHENOTYPES (look it up), a fingerprinting card and ink pad, two "moist towelettes" to clean the ink off your fingers, a matchbook-type container of thiourea taste strips and a flimsy blue ruler/protractor for measuring finger lengths, jaw angle, cranial dimensions, etc. (Mouse-over the notes on the customer images for more details.) it's a nice companion to the book. It has more things you can do to better pinpoint your Geno Type since the book only shows a few.it's easy to follow and understand and of course you do need to book so it can easily explain you your findings.

I have been a fan of the blood type diet for years, but trying to identify my GenoType was much harder. I read the GenoType book carefully, and thought the kit would make things clearer, but I'm still unsure of my type. I'm disappointed.
