These days, I think especially since the rise of popularity of pho, everyone switched to “rooster sauce.”I did, too. But I ran out once and, like everybody, I had a bottle of Tabasco on my refrigerator door. I put a dash in my soup and found that I preferred it. The rooster sauce is good, but it’s a little sweet for my taste. Tabasco, which is just vinegar water and salt, is not sweet at all.And if you are ever in Louisiana, take a detour and check out the historical bottling plant, a fun side trip in Cajun Country.

I've always liked Tabasco sauce - Not as much as Frank's Red Hot or some stronger sauces, but it's still pleasant. Thing is, in November 2021 I was diagnosed with a heart issue. I'm on a much stricter sodium diet these days, for the sake of my health. Sadly, my more favored sauce of Frank's Red Hot, and in fact many others are too salty to use liberally anymore. Original Tabasco however, is quite low in comparison. It's 35mg for 1 teaspoon of Tabasco, compared to 170-200+mg for most other hot sauces. It still adds some heat (although I have a very high tolerance for the stuff), and helps kick up more bland foods for me.Fun fact, the 5 oz size's cap is actually a single serving size of 1 teaspoon. Measured it myself. Makes it easier to use the right amount in foods.

We have been using this particular brand of Tabasco for a lifetime! A drop or two does wonders for a pot of beans. You don’t taste any burn, but the flavor is enhanced. The same holds true for a pot of noodles. Like the old Brill Cream hair pomade, “a little dab will do ya!”

If you have a medium sized for you should probably have a hot sauce in it. It doesn't have to be this brand but I highly suggest it.
