5.0 out of 5 stars Install advice. Love it.
Here's some tips that might help you install this in a 2012, 2013 Ford Focus. You'll need a 7 mm socket and an extension for your ratchet. There's four 7 mm screws that hold down the top of the airbox cover, and you'll need the extension for two of them.Once you get the screws loose you might have to jiggle the airbox cover to get it off. With the stock air filter, try lifting it up from the back before you try and pull it out, because the back cover of the filter fits in a groove at the bottom half of the airbox. Before putting this new filter in, try slipping the top air box cover on it so you can see how the end cap of the filter slips into the groove. You've got to line it up perfectly and get it in the groove or you won't be able to line up your screws when you put it back together. When you put in this new filter stick the mouth part over the inlet pipe, reach down with your fingers and grab the bottom of the filter end cap, lift it slightly and push/slip it into the bottom groove of the airbox. Make sure the filter is properly inside that bottom groove. Then when you put the top half of the airbox cover on, slip the end cap of the filter into the groove first then set the cover down flat. All your screw holes should line up if you got that end cap properly in the grooves, top and bottom.I had trouble lining everything up at first till I figured out how to get it properly in the grooves. It fits perfectly and was easy to install. It just took me a while to figure out the groove thing. But now that you know and if you focus on getting it in the grooves it will line up perfectly for you.I haven't driven the car yet, but it starts up fine, and idling and revving the engine in my parking stall it sounds smoother. Idle is rock solid stable and it seems more responsive to throttle. I love K&N filters so I'm kinda biased, they go in all my cars. But I really can tell the difference. It's great. Take your time installing it and you'll love it.
5.0 out of 5 stars Fits perfectly!
This air filter is a perfect fit for my 2016 Ford Focus 2.0L engine. It seems to improve driveability some as well. It must be improving my airflow. Before I installed this filter, the car would stumble a bit on acceleration. Ever since installation, I've been experiencing smoother acceleration. I have K&N filters on three of my four vehicles presently.
5.0 out of 5 stars 2015 Ford Focus
Noticeable difference when taking off from stops - faster throttle response. Engine has slightly better grrr (it is a Focus :-) ). Allows for more umph when needing to pass - makes a cool growl. Installed in my 20yo step daughters car - the cylindrical shape and Fords compact filter box does make for a finicky install, but it'll fit. The boob at Jiffy Lube that put the last cheesy filter in broke two of the screw mounts, but the lid still fit snug and stayed on. Can't speak to gas mileage improvement (20yo daughter, remember- didn't know her Focus had a digital speedometer, he he, love her), but the K&N filter on my Silverado definitely improves gas mileage on lengthy trips.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great item
Great price and fast shipping.Just what I wanted.
4.0 out of 5 stars Quality filter
Used in a 2013 ford escape 2.0 eco boost turbo. No issues with fitment. Price is was a little higher then I thought it should be. Car seems to have stronger acceleration with the filter when paired with a focus RS intake lid.
5.0 out of 5 stars Looks like good quality.
The filter was a little hard getting on had to push it in and make sure it was in the grove. It doesn't just drop in. But once in all is good.
5.0 out of 5 stars Fits perfect, easy installation
Fits my 2012 Ford Focus SE perfectly. After watching a couple youtube videos on how to replace it, I was able to do the replacement in about two minutes. Just unscrewed the plastic cover, pulled out the old filter, put in the new one, and screwed the cover back on. The hardest part was putting the cover back on. It took me a few tries to get the cover in exactly the right position, but this was not the fault of the new filter, I just had to line up all the grooves and flanges and stuff correctly.I know very little about cars (and because some people care--I'm also a girl! Yes, even girls can do this!) and have never replaced anything under the hood before, but this was easy. The worst thing that happened was dropping a socket from the wrench while trying to unscrew, and sadly being unable to find it among all the parts of the engine--so be careful not to drop your tools into the engine, haha. The filter also came out of the box a bit greasy/oily, and the engine has some grease and oil about, too, so to other first-time replacers, prepare to get your hands and maybe clothes a little dirty, but you'll live.As far as vehicle performance after the swap: well, my old filter was "very dirty" according to the tire shop that did the inspection that alerted me to the need to get a new filter, so just having a new filter in general might be responsible, but I did notice a drop in my rpms after the replacement. For example, on a flat road going 65 mph used to give me about 2600 rpms according to the dash, and now I get about 2400 rpms. I haven't checked my mpg yet. It could just be power of suggestion, but maybe I also have faster acceleration and a slightly quieter engine.I wasn't so sure about the economic value of getting this part versus continuing to buy and swap disposable filters... but when I considered the environmental impact of trashing filters versus having one forever, I decided to buy this one. So far (been in my car for only a couple days at the time of writing) I'm completely happy with my purchase.
