5.0 out of 5 stars Quality product
Works great and is still sharp.
5.0 out of 5 stars In my opinion the BEST cigar cutter out there.
Sharp blades make quick clean cut. Light and easy to carry in your pocket. Looks good too.
5.0 out of 5 stars A fine cigar deserves a Xikar!
I enjoy fine single malt whisky and fine cigars. It's a natural pairing. For years, I did my cigars wrong by using a cheap subpar guillotine cutter. When I saw how the cap was shredded by a poorly made cutter I knew it was time to choose and purchase a cutter worthy of my cigars.I knew of Xikar’s quality and found the price more than reasonable. I get a clean cut each and every time from this sturdily built tool. The construction is outstanding, the finish is beautiful and the warranty is easily the best in the business.
4.0 out of 5 stars Very good cut
I've been chomping cigars on camping and fishing trips as well as enjoying fine puros with a snifter of VSOP brandy for about 40 years. I've used every cutter known to the cigar smoking world and improvised many more. V-notch cutters, round hole cutters, scissors cutters, guillotine single blades, etc. What I like about this cutter is that the cut is baby-bottom smooth and very repeatable. Assuming your cigar is properly stored and not dry and brittle, this cutter will give you a nearly laser-clean cut, and it will be just where you want it if you follow the instructions and place the cutter on a table to give your vertically-held cigar a repeatable backstop before slicing. You know those cutters that give you a ragged cut with flakes of tobacco in your mouth that you have to spit out, or a hole or notch without enough draw? Not this cutter. The cut is very smooth without any flakes or bits of tobacco around the cut, unlike the single blade guillotine or round hole cutters. How classy is it to be on the back porch of a fine restaurant, watching the sun set over the ocean with your lady...and having to make spitting noises because your crappy cutter shreds your cigar?Regarding style of cutter...I find that a cut-end cigar gives the best draw, with the least hot-spot concentration of smoke on the tongue. In other words, V-notch cutters and hole cutters don't give me a satisfactory draw, and they tend to concentrate the smoke on the tip of the tongue...scorching my tender taste buds. Scissors cutters are great, but not as repeatable...either in depth of cut up the cigar or in cutting perpendicular to the long axis of the cigar. Why? Because they aren't designed to be placed on a table to give you a perfect backstop. Plus, they are longer and more difficult to carry, even if they do look a bit more chic than the XI2.Finally, complete your repertoire of fine cigar toys and get yourself a Xikar Trezo triple flame cigar lighter. It has 3 flames arranged in a straight line...giving you a broad flame for large ring sizes. Very adjustable, practical and sharp looking. I also use the Xikar glycol solution for my humidifier, and it works well. It provides steady humidity and as it depletes, the humidity level comes down over days so you have a chance to notice it before it drops too far.The only reason I didn't give this unit 5 stars is that the closing action is a little bit rough-feeling. Somewhere inside the steel is rubbing slightly...not in the sharp blade area, but somewhere else. When I purchase a cutter like this, I expect glass-smooth cuts and glass-smooth action...this is a quality control issue, and I'm a finicky customer...it has no effect on the function or the quality of the cut. Also, the edge of the trigger button is sharp. This could be smoothed down to prevent the edge from scratching other items in your pocket. Yes, I could buy the little storage pouch that Xikar sells for this cutter...but I'd rather they soften the sharp edge.
5.0 out of 5 stars Another great product from xikar
No real way to say anything bad about this cutter. It's razor sharp. It'll put more than an adequate cut on a 60 ring cigar (one reviewer was upset you can't cut a 60 in halfwith it, why you'd want to cut one in half I'll never know). Construction seems to be really solid. I didn't realize until after I bought it that the black part is plastic, but I'm actually glad. That molded black plastic will probably wear better than the matte black metal of my 2 xikar V cutters. It makes a great cut on my cigars. I really only use it for my big 60 ring cigars and anything that is pointy like a torpedo. I use a V cutter for my 50-54 toros, and a 7mm punch for my little 4x42 quick smokes. You won't be dissappointed if you buy it.
5.0 out of 5 stars Durable Cigar Cutter
This cutter feels solid and I expect it to last me a lifetime. The matte black nylon handles do not scratch or chip, but still look sleek. I have dropped the cutter a few times, picked it up and everything is tight, with no chips. As far as cutting cigars this thing is a champ. Blade is razor sharp. I have used it on many gauges and shapes and every time they come out perfect. Just make sure you snap it shut with a good deal of force. Even the best cutters can mash a cigar if not closed quickly. The locking mechanism makes it very easy and safe to carry in your pocket, and since this thing is so light you barely know it is there. After cutting through 75 or so cigars and a year of use there is not a sign of rust or blade dulling.
1.0 out of 5 stars Blade chipped and binds
This product has received such great reviews and I was excited to use a premium cigar cutter. But: when mine arrived one of the blades was chipped and the other blade stuck/binds/moves with difficulty. (Hard to describe.) It is as if the blades are scratching against each other. Not what I expect from a premium-priced cutter. (My cheap $5 cutter has smoother action than this guy.)Anyway, I realize these have a lifetime warranty but I'm not interested in that hassle. Manufacturer warranties are a pain to deal with. This is going back to Bolo and I'll think twice before I buy another Xikar cutter. If you are going to sell me a "premium" product, my time/energy/hassle needs to be considered part of that price premium. Get it right the first time, that is what a QA department is for.Maybe I just had bad luck, but I see one other review complaining about a similar problem. Thank goodness Bolo is so great about product returns. If you have the patience and the time/energy to deal with manufacturer's "lifetime warranties" then go for it. You can treat product returns with Xikar as a side-hobby to keep your cigar smoking more interesting.
5.0 out of 5 stars A good value
Cuts clean. I would buy it again.
Great cutter
never had a xikar cutter before but l have an atmosphere lighter for a few months and a 5 cigars travel case from them and they are good products so I don’t think l would go wrong trying their cutter. It is very light but feels solid, did cut about 10 cigars since my purchase and it works perfectly. No difference between this and a dupont cutter IMO. Its a bit more slippery than a colibri (those got a grippy finish) but it is not worth dropping my review to a 4 stars. I’m satisfied.
