5.0 out of 5 stars Great weight and feel
This is perfect for catch training for anyone, but really useful for kids who may be scared of the harder balls used after T-ball. The weight and throwing physics are nearly identical to U-8 balls but they're soft. Unlike a lot of other training balls they land in a glove about the same as a regular ball. No bouncing out like some lighter or softer balls do. Same size too so once a kid is comfortable with this they should forget to be scared of the regular balls.I can't speak to the durability because i haven't had them long, but I don't think they'd last long if you were hitting them.Great product and worth the money.
5.0 out of 5 stars Better than wiffle ball safer than baseballs
My son is getting good enough at hitting that he can drill line drives back at me. These are way safer. They also worked to help him learn to catch properly. The weight is very close to a baseball so it helps with swing and catch timing and they have held up for all of spring and summer including leaving them in the backyard with sprinklers on.
5.0 out of 5 stars Genuinely soft, perfect for learning to catch (not hitting) - THESE ARE THE ONES TO GET
Perfect for 5-to-8 year olds who are scared of the ball. This ball is almost exactly regulation size and weight, soft enough that it doesn't hurt much, and solid enough that it doesn't feel like a squeeze toy. You can "squish" it about 1/2 inch if you have strong hands, so it has a lot of "give," yet it throws and feels like a regular ball. MUCH softer than "Level 1" balls by the major manufacturers. Don't be put off by the dumb name and garish "SAFETY BALL" print -- the print is there for a reason, which is that you shouldn't allow a strong kid to hit these balls with a bat, as that will eventually destroy the ball. These are for playing catch, and they will last forever if all you do is catch, even with hard grounders. If an 8 year old starts to hit with them, they are going to split and fray pretty quickly. Use Level 1 balls for hitting, play catch with these softer balls. Also, as others have noted, these do have a bit more bounce than Level 1 balls; however, I don't think that's bad, and they certainly aren't bouncy like a golf ball or a tennis ball.
4.0 out of 5 stars Good choice for new players
Decent ball for beginning players or those that you are trying to break from being afraid of being hit. I use these with my 5 year old who is playing Shetland League. As he is still developing basic baseball skills and coordination, these balls are a great tool to train him while keeping him safe. The ball is lighter than a official league ball and made a synthetic leather (pleather if you will). It is drastically softer and you can get a pretty good squeeze on it.My son has taken this ball off the head/face/chest/everywhere and has never cried (just a small ouch and a laugh). As others have said, the stitching on this ball is on the poor side, but I have not had any issues while playing catch, throwing grounders, and even some light hitting off a tee with these. I definitely would NOT recommend older players use these for any type of hitting as I can see the stitching failing pretty quick. We've been using these balls for over a year and gone through 3 seasons (spring/fall/winter) with no problems.
5.0 out of 5 stars Good for beginners
I bought this to use with my two young boys. It can be pretty rough learning to catch with a real baseball. Especially if you miss and get hit. These balls help with that problem.Pros:1. Good weight. I thought these might be too mushy or soft, but the were not. They have a nice feel and throw well. When caught they feel almost like catching a hard ball.2. They seem to be holding up well. We have only been working on how to catch so I am not sure how they would hold up when you hit them.3. My sons have been hit in the head, chest, leg and everywhere else. The padding worked. They felt it but did not get hurt, bruised or (most importantly) cry.4. I can catch the wild through backs with my bare hand with out the stingCons:Can't think of any.If you are learning to catch and don't want to get hit with a hard ball then these are the ones to start with. I really like them

Fun
5.0 out of 5 stars Great for starting out
Got this for someone that was just starting out and learning. Perfect for what was needed and helped with the safety aspect by being softer than a regular hardball but giving you a pretty good feel for a regular ball. Perfect for learning to just play catch, field groundballs, and take some flyballs.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great balls
Perfect for belting line drives at your young son without worrying about any potential hospital bills. If the kid gets hit by these it'll be the perfect amount pain to teach him to get the glove up and pay attention instead of staring at the clouds. Might leave a bruise but hey that's life. They fly pretty well. Not overly cushy or soft like an overprotective mother might want who thinks he kid is special and delicate.
