5.0 out of 5 stars Best Pc gamepad I have.. and i have many
This is a great gamepad. The feel of it is very high quality compared to other gamepads i have.Compared to an official Xbox 360 this is much better in almost every way.I can't get over how good it's dpad is. It puts to shame pretty much everything out there except maybe the Sega Saturn revision 2 gamepad or the Sega USB remake of the Saturn controller. It's a tough choice. The Saturn controller is the best i have for fighting games, which require much accuracy... but this Logitech pad is slightly less in precision.. very slight due to a little wobbliness, but it makes up for it by having a better feel for most general type of gamesThe build quality and weight of it seems as high as an official xbox controller. So far, this is my best gamepad for playing most game genres. It just feels and responds so nicely.I always am one to have gripes about gamepads.. usually a lot of gripes, but I can think of very little bad to say about it.Pros: just about everything is near perfect. I love the feel and color of the buttons. I love it when a gamepad uses colored buttons that match the xbox360 layout. it helps me find my keys faster.Cons: I wish the triggers had more of a handle on them to grip onto. They feel really good though.. but they are a little on the short side.. like a nubI noticed one problem with hitting the "Mode" button to change the dpad with the left analog. When I play OnLive using this controller the mode button seems to make walking diagonal (down-left) not work when i tried that mode in "Lara Croft and The Guardian of the Light".. but this might be an OnLive issue. I didn't test that out with other games yetI love this controller so much and is my current favorite as logitech has set a new standard in quality. In fact, i own a lot of different logitech products and i think this surpasses all of them in quality too.I intend on trying the Razer Onza out one day but i have a feeling this is on par with that even.. or close to it. The logitech F710 has really surprised me
5.0 out of 5 stars Solid controller, after a bit of setup
After years of use and abuse, my F510's left stick finishing came apart and now feels weird in the hand, so I decided to give wireless a go.Reading the multiple reviews stating problems with windows 10, I decided to give it a go and see what all the problems are, I am a systems admin by trade after all... low and behold, I plugged in the nano receiver to a front usb, removed the battery sticker and the remote was up and playing madden 21 (yes, I know) within seconds. No problems with windows 10, shows right up under devices. For some reason the logitech gaming software I use for my mouse doesn't show this device AND the nano receiver for the mouse won't pickup the controller, kind of makes the point of "universal" nano receivers a bust as I need them both plugged in to separate usb ports. Now the one issue I had to tackle, the range... AWFUL! I am literally seated two feet away and at same height from my gaming pc box, with the receiver in the front and this thing lags, doesn't recognize most double clicks and drops connection, that's just piss poor. I finally figured out what the usb wire extender was in the box for, lol. I ran the extender from the box, under my keyboard and directly in front of me with the nano receiver on it, now BAM remote is no longer laggy and behaves just like the F510, except heavier (rechargeable batteries help out alot here instead of the included duracells) and without the wires and with much weaker vibration. For 30 bones you can't go wrong here. --> awGuru.comPros -> Wireless, no setup required, seems durable as alwaysCons -> Laggy if not setup as above, weak vibration compared to F510
4.0 out of 5 stars First Impressions Were Mixed
So, I'm assuming most people looking at this product will be trying to decide between this or an Xbox 360 controller, so I'm going to compare and contrast them. When used in Dinput mode (There's a small switch at the top of the controller to toggle the modes), this controller can be customized to use macros (keystroke combinations) and so used as a remote control for programs like iTunes and probably other programs if you're clever (I am not). So it's somewhat more versatile in this regard than the 360 controller as far as I know. Of course, an Xbox controller can also be used with an actual Xbox so the Xbox controller is more versatile in that regard. When used in Xinput mode it's essentially an Xbox controller and works well with all of the computer games I've tried to play. It works great with Steam's Big Picture mode and as of writing I've tried out Team Fortress 2, Limbo, Cave Story+, AudioSurf, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and They Bleed Pixels and it works perfectly. The buttons are responsive and give good resistance, the triggers are sensitive and give a little more resistance than an Xbox controller. It has a nice weight and I like the directional pad much more than the Xbox controller's.The first problem I have with this controller is that it's slightly uncomfortable after being used for ~50 minutes, since it's a little small for me, but I'm a full grown adult male and I get similar sensations from using a mouse for too long so this will vary from person to person. I have Xbox 360 controllers and find those to be more comfortable for prolonged use.The biggest issue is that this controller will not work out of the box in Xinput mode on 64-bit Windows systems. In order for it to work in Xinput mode on my Windows 7 64 bit OS, I had to download the drivers for an Xbox 360 controller and edit a single file (specifics can easily be found by Googling), which isn't a difficult fix but perhaps intimidating for people who aren't too computer savvy and very frustrating since Logitech does not have their own fix and users had to improvise one.In short, if you don't care about using it for things other than video games/have a 64-bit operating system and don't want the hassle of having to fix the driver problem/have an Xbox and would like a multiple purpose controller, get an Xbox 360 controller. If you would like a remote control for iTunes/more customization options/have a 32-bit OS or are competent enough to work out a fairly simple fix, get this controller. For me using my computer as a stereo and assigning macros to buttons is worth the hour I spent getting it to work and the slight discomfort.EDITSo after looking at reviews for a second time, I noticed that a few people complained about the controller performing poorly on first person shooters. This is an odd criticism to me since mouse controls are superior to console controls for FPSs and 3rd person shooters (apologies for sounding like a PC gaming elitist). I bought this controller primarily for action games and platformers like most of the games mentioned above and others like Bastion, Prince of Persia and Recettear (Tests pending while I re-download those games) and the controller works excellently while keyboard controls for a platformer are very frustrating. Although I will admit an analog stick is a bit nicer than WASD for movement in an FPS, so I managed to play TF2 by holding the controller in my left hand and using a mouse in the right. Best of both worlds (like I said, I'm not clever).
i love it
Great!
