These are standard pencils and perform as to be expected. I use them for marking wood and like that they come pre-sharpened. They graphite is of standard thickness, so they're as durable as to be expected. I leave them in my tool bag and appreciate the smooth lines and ease of holding compared to standard wood pencils. They're worth the price to me.

These are fantastic pencils as far as the way they're made, great quality, write well, lead doesn't break easily when you use or sharpen it, well worth the money. WAY better than those Ticonderoga pencils which I used to swear by but those have gone WAY down in quality and are overpriced and overrated and those leads break, splinters a lot (the Ticonderogas). Back to this review of the USA Gold by Write Dudes. As I said, great pencils. BUT beware as they sell two different kind -- the premium American Wood and these premium Cedar pencils. I used to love the smell of cedar pencils as a kid, so yeah I wanted those throw-back memories for myself and for my son to enjoy those great pencils I remembered from my childhood. These USA Gold cedar pencils used to have that great cedar smell, but these I ordered this time say they're cedar, but there's NO cedar smell whatsoever about these cedar pencils. In fact, there's no smell at all, not even a faint regular wood smell. It says on the package the cedar they use is the California Incense cedar wood. Well I had to Google that type wood to see if it has an aromatic cedar smell or not, and my research says yes, it is the cedar that's commonly used to make pencils and is supposed to have a spicy scent that we associate most with how wooden pencils smell. But these do not have any smell - much less a cedar scent. Maybe this batch I got this time was mis-labeled and it really had the regular wood pencils in the pack that's labeled cedar. I know I paid for cedar, so I'll contact USA Gold - Write Guys and tell them they must have made a mistake. But when they get it right and you order their cedar pencils, you will be pleased as they normally smell great and hold up really well - even down to the nub these pencils will hold up. AND their made in Tennessee, so that's a bonus as that's where I grew up. BUY AMERICAN when you can! Go USA!

In my opinion, these Write Dudes USA Gold Premium Cedar pencils are some of the finest pencils I've ever used, as dull as it may make me seem to say such a thing. A pencil is a simple thing and I'm no pencilologist, so I will not get too in-depth analyzing them. But these are the only pencils I buy for my workplace, and there's several reasons why:-FSC Certified Wood casing - If you care about the environment, FSC certified products are the way to go; Far better than recycled wood products since those are usually made from materials that originated in a questionable matter (not to mention the pollution involved in the recycling process), and demand for FSC certified wood results in trees being planted and maintained for that explicit purpose. Recycled wood = less trees in the world, FSC certified wood = more trees in the world. Since my industry involves the use of timber, conservation of trees matters very much to me.-Cedar wood construction - I always find cedar wood pencils sharpen better than "mystery wood" casings. You get better results in your data entry/marking activities, and it saves time. Add to that, the smell of cedar is amazing and sharpening these pencils always brings back memories of childhood to everyone I know. It makes for a pleasant experience.-Durable as heck. I have gone through no fewer than 2 dozen of these pencils personally, and more have been used by my staff, and I've never seen a single one where the lead has simply broke and "fell out" of the casing. Never. These get dropped all the time in the shop onto a concrete floor and of course the tip may break a bit, but even that kind of incident has never broken the lead further down the casing. This saves a LOT of time versus those poor quality pencils that constantly drop their lead.I'm generally the kind of guy that constantly re-visits items I regularly purchase in order to be sure I'm getting the best cost/benefit ratio possible. I haven't even thought of doing that with my pencil choice once I began purchasing these babies.

Can there be a more standardized, homogeneous product than a #2 pencil? Like many of them, this one is well made and writes smoothly. It's the same size and shape as any other #2 pencil. The graphite seems to be good quality--smooth, not too fragile. Eraser is good. I bought these instead of many other perfectly functional pencils because I like the idea of keeping some basic amount of manufacturing in the US. I like to think that the people who made them are free adults working in a safe environment and making a living wage. Good product.

Considering their price, I think the USA Gold Premium Cedar No. 2 pencils are great. The wood, cedar, smelled nice, and the pencil did its job correctly. I recommend it for schoolwork and everyday writing.

Hello....i just got my much awaiting product that is usa gold pencils...wow..super quality and good looking too..pretty dark and smooth writing but a little itchy...light in weight also..totally it reaches my expectations...i m happy with this...
Excellent HB pencils
They're smooth and don't break while sharpening, I took one star because the packaging arrived torn looked like it was opened before.
