5.0 out of 5 stars Pretty much...WOW!
I have a $200 or so Braun electric shaver...I forget, the series 9 something. In any case been traveling much more these days and finding my regular sized Braun takes up too much room, too heavy, also have to bring the charger. I wanted a very small DECENT shaver for travel and to put in my carry on luggage. Took a chance on this Panasonic shaver and I kind of thought maybe it will work...but from some negative reviews I saw maybe it will barely work and or is it really made in Japan? not China? Well I purposely did not shave for three days knowing this Panasonic shaver was going to be delivered. It is TINY like maybe about 3 inches tall/1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. I put in two rechargeable AA's in it and off I went to test it. All I can say is WOW, to how well it worked/works. I have NO idea how some reviews stated it barely cut well or, it was made in China...The box clearly says made in Japan and it's also right on the back of the shaver. What to really say here. It's tiny....it gave me a CLOSER shave than my $200 bulky Braun, and I am blown away that it works as well as it does for about just $18!! haha, I am actually looking forward to shaving again because this thing works so well. As to longevity, I can not say yet, but if it lasts a while...this is maybe the best $20-ish I have spent on Bolo all year. On a side note, I'm no brand fan boy of ANY brand, but I have NEVER had any Panasonic ANYTHING from cameras to a rice cooker die on me. They must have GREAT QC overall..as the brand is so solid esp. vs all those new no name brands from Asia...you know. I do wish it had a trimer like a larger Braun travel shaver but that Braun looks nearly twice this size and my purpose was to find the smallest electric shaver possible. I am simply wowed by this thing. If it does die on me too soon, I'll update this review...so far...I am amazed at this little guy esp. vs it's price point!!
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Product!
This little shaver is perfect, keep one at the desk, one in the car, and one in your briefcase! Inexpensive enough to do it and the shave is great! (I guess you can tell I have 3 of them...you should too!)
4.0 out of 5 stars A female POV review
I got this specifically for a closer armpit shave. I was sick of going through razors, only getting an OK shave when I shaved wet & still getting cut. This was my solution for shaving without water. It's pretty straightforward, easy to use & does the job really well. I prefer how this is battery-operated so you just need to pop 2 AA batteries instead of waiting for your device to charge before you use it. The size is nice, compact & perfect for traveling. I love the retro look to too! How stinkin' cute! The fact that it's made in Japan, at an affordable price is the cherry on top! The only con is that it's a tad bit loud.
5.0 out of 5 stars A Sweetie.
I have two of these, one for home, one for travel, both the Japan-made models.. I have a medium beard and generally like to shave twice a day. This works great, gives a nice close shave, is almost invisibly small and so easy to carry around. Every face is different I guess, and every beard, but no burns, no nicks, just good. I pick it up during the day and give a second once-over. Will not cut long hairs (e.g, on my neck if I have missed too long), but a quick plastic razor keeps them gone. I use Lectric Shave but found that just water works about as well. Not waterproof, so DON’T drench the razor itself! Yes, protective top falls off easily as reviewers have said, but I keep the razor in a small cloth case I have used for earbuds – and the top stays on.
5.0 out of 5 stars Small and good
Need something small for travel. Had one of these many years ago in Japan and it lasted forever so I bought it. Does not get as clean shaven as a razor (as most inexpensive electric shavers do)but does a good job for motorcycle trips and long flights.
1.0 out of 5 stars Great razor for the price but flops at cutting some hairs.
I wanted a very small but inexpensive battery-powered razor so I could take it backpacking, and this Panasonic AA battery-powered razor fits that need very well. It's small in height and width and it's very thin, plus it's lightweight, so it packs into my backpack extremely well.It shaves decent enough, it's not going to shave as close as a blade but shaves good enough. No electric razor, no matter what they advertise, can shave as close as a blade. I've owned large expensive rotary and foil razors and they simply cannot compete with a blade, and neither can this little Panasonic. Since the Panasonic only has one cutting foil, it will take several passes to get to chop the beard down, large triple foil razors do a better job, but still won't be as close as a blade. Foil-type razors do cut closer than a rotary type, not much closer but closer. So if you need something small for travel and or camping this is the perfect solution. My only quips about it is the foil blade cover, the cover is not very secure at all, and it came off inside my backpack, so I now put a rubber band over the top of the cover and around the razor to hold in place. The cost to do this minor correction would be very small, but this has been a problem with this razor for a very long time, and Panasonic knows about it but has refused to correct it. The other problem, which isn't a big problem, but they should have made this razor waterproof so a person could use it in the shower, or rinse it under running water, but they do include a brush, so you can brush the blade clean. The last quip is the brush, there should have been some way that the brush could attach firmly to the razor, instead, it's just loose, so the rubber band I use to hold the cover on also holds the brush against the body of the razor so I don't lose it. The brush already has a hole in the center, so why wasn't there a round male molded plastic plug sticking out of the rear face of the razor so that the brush would just press in firmly and stay in place? Those are minor quips, but all of them can be remedied cheaply, the only thing that might make the razor a tad more expensive is making it waterproof, but I think the added expense would be worth it, the other two shouldn't cost anything to make them work correctly so they don't get lost. That's why I gave the razor 4 stars, if they ever decide to fix those simple-to-fix issues it would get a 5-star rating. I can't take off anything for the closeness of the shave, because I knew when I bought it that a single foil wasn't going to cut as close as a 4 foil with far better blades like the Panasonic Arc 5 has.So, buy it for travel, buy it for camping, but don't buy it for everyday use thinking you're going to get a close shave for work, if you need that sort of shaver get the Panasonic Arc 5, or better yet buy a Rockwell 6C for an incredibly close and smooth shave.

Amazing little shaver
I’ve picked up a few inexpensive travel foil shavers and this one is my favourite so far. There are no frills like a trimmer or water cleaning but if you use it daily, the shave is very close, comfortable and the AAA batteries last a long time. My only question will be how long the blades will last and unfortunately I think it’s cheaper to replace the whole shaver than the blades. I’ll try and update when I know more.
Simplicity always wins in my book
No song and dance, just pure and simple. Great for everyday use, nice and compact for travel. And the fact these are still made in Japan is the icing on the cake for me personally.Highly recommended if you’re looking for a foil shaver.
