5.0 out of 5 stars Small can, order twice as much as you think you'll need!
This is a small can, and I should be ordering twice as much as I think I'll need.A product somewhat similar to Brownells Rust Veto, I have a one pound container of Rust Veto, and has the consistency of a very waxy heavy grease, significantly deterring corrosion and very long lasting. How metal was packed many many decades ago.Now finally, WD-40 seems to have a spray-on similar corrosion prevention material/product. Especially since many of a us whom religiously clean engine and metal parts using WD-40, only to subsequently watch those parts rust because we didn't apply something preventing corrosion! Seems WD-40 might be coming back into the corrosion prevention market...The WD-40 Corrosion Inhibitor sprays a heavy greasy material, along with a light petroleum like mineral spirit material onto your target, and will stay put. I am guessing, on metal products with frequent handling, the target can be wiped down, similar when using Brownells Rust Veto product, so as not to leave a sticky messy residue and will probably more completely somewhat dry more so providing a thin layer of corrosion protection.

I saw this product used to clean products that were rusty and was impressed. It really does a great job.
4.0 out of 5 stars Not for everybody
I have a woodworking shop near Houston. It's very humid most of the year and fighting rust on my cast iron tools is a constant battle. I tried this WD-40 corrosion inhibitor and had mixed feelings about it. First, it's a really small can for the price. Second, it works really well, but leaves a sticky coating. Unfortunately, wood cannot slide smoothly across this coating. The sequence I have developed is to spray a thin coat of WD-40, rub it on and cover the tool. When I need to use the tool, I uncover it, wipe off the WD-40 with mineral spirits and apply a coat of wax. When finished, I recoat the tool with the WD-40. It does stop rust, but it's not practical for my use.
5.0 out of 5 stars Contains Calcium sulfonate
I looked up the MSDS for this as it seemed similar to some other corrosion inhibitors I've used, and one of the key ingredients is calcium sulfonate which is a thickener commonly found in a lot of industrial greases often used as a corrosion inhibitor in some applications. The other key ingredient is Aliphatic cyclic amine which I haven't found a correlation for preventing corrosion. We use a calcium sulfonate and PTFE based grease for mechanisms/gears exposed to the elements so it makes sense that some folks found it to protect rust-prone materials exposed to rain. It also explains why only 6.5 oz of this stuff is so expensive.
5.0 out of 5 stars I like it
I just started using it so can't tell you how long it will last. But I do like it. Easy to use also
5.0 out of 5 stars Works but has a long lasting residue
Works but has a long lasting residueI guess that's how it protects but stays semi liquid and gummy.
5.0 out of 5 stars Works GREAT!
I have heavy security type screen doors. After time they get faded and rusty and dog drool stained regardless of cleaning. I have treated 2 of the doors and they look brand new. Did my old bistro table as well, same results! Can’t wait to try on other outdoor metals!!!
Excellent product
Very useful , meets the expectations.
