5.0 out of 5 stars Experimental Fun!
I'm still playing with my prills but one thing I noticed is that some old linen that I hand washed with prill water came out super clean and soft - as in whatever detergent residue was in the fabric was gone. I did use a small amount of Castile soap in the first batch because it rinses super easily.THEN I washed a piece of new linen with some old linen and YIKES! The new linen was only barely less stiff and the OLD linen was the same! So whatever was being washed out of the new linen was deposited into the old linen. Rewashed the old linen in new prill water and it went back to being super soft.I don't see how pH could possibly be raised to 11, as one reviewer claimed. The highest I've had is right around 8, which is plenty, from 6.5-6.75. Our water is generally good - if there isn't a drought - so all I do is charcoal filter for taste. Prill water tastes like well water I recall from childhood in Kansas - 50 or so years ago.Still experimenting! Super fun!UPDATE: More experimenting! Rather than confine my prills to laundry duty, I dumped about a liter of prill water into the washer with a load of laundry which came out clean and soft. Particularly the socks! Apparently, rather than soap attracting dirt, dirt attracts soap and then it doesn't get rinsed out in the crappy new washing machines that barely use enough water to wet the clothes so that the dirty part of socks still looks dirty PLUS gets stiff with laundry detergent. Anyway, they came out a lot cleaner and MUCH softer.I did one load with prill water and soap nuts, which came out great. Then a load (the one with the socks) with just prill water in the load. THEN I "washed" a load of not particularly dirty stuff with just the rinse and spin cycle and IT was clean and soft so, YEAH! Including a particularly coffee-stained dishcloth that I'd handwashed with castile soap to no avail!I've been drinking half filtered water and half prill water and it tastes like well water used to taste in Kansas, back in the 60s so, Yummy! Plus, I agree, I just naturally wanted more water. Haven't cooked with it yet but I put some in a spray bottle to spray on my hand instead of using lotion and it feels good but doesn't appear to have done anything so I'll keep doing that and see if anything happens. It feels sort of like magnesium oil, once it's rubbed in...not sure about the greater alkalinity. My hands feel soft but also sort of dried out.I suspect you get more "prill" action using prill water than putting the prills in the washer. Which would make sense because if you use the prills in the washer, they're not going to do much in the small amount of time your laundry is in there with it draining and filling up twice. I used a good amount of room tempeprature prill water in each load - probably not quite a half gallon.I've also been timing the pH change and it appears you don't get much more alkalinity by leaving the water in for 24 hours than you get after 2 or 3 hours so I've had more than enough water to do laundry with, getting 2 or 3 gallons per day. With the occasional 24 or more hours when I'm not playing with it. We have pretty good water here so that may be why. I also dropped a terra cotta disk in with the prills for the chlorine and fluoride. It limited the pH change for about a day but then it went back to previous results. From 6.5/.75 to right around 8. I've also only been pouring off about half, rather than 3/4 which doesn't appear to make much difference except the pH starts out significantly higher so I suppose it doesn't take as long to get up where I want it.I bought a filtered shower head so I'll try the beads that come with that vs the prills and see if there's a difference.
5.0 out of 5 stars There Really is a Difference!
Did a side by side taste test with filtered water from the Berkey without the prills, and filtered water from the Berkey with the prills. The prill water was "cleaner" and thinner tasting. Am enjoying my "new found" water.

5.0 out of 5 stars Maintain Magnisiun levels
I don't seem to get sufficient Magnisium on a daily basis and need it. So I have found these Perl Beads to complete my needs in a convienient way.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great but need your own mesh container
Good bulk product but comes without any mesh or fabric container to allow you to soak prills in water. So I used a tea mesh ball strainer and it works fine.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great product and does not impart any after taste.
Wish I had learned about this product years ago. Excellent for raising the pH of your drinking water without imparting any sort of after taste. I am a traveller, and using a 1/3 pound to a half gallon of water does the trick. All I have to do is purchase a local glass pitcher every country I stay in.
3.0 out of 5 stars Black rocks in Prills.
Okay. I like the fact that you receive an incredible value for the prills. I have ordered prills from this vendor before the 2lbs bag in fact. Clean bag on 1st order. This last bag was just not right. I spent 40 minutes just digging out BLACK ROCKS.Quality control needs to do better.

Magnesium is essential to our good health, so this is an easy way to incorporate into our lifestyle. These last a lifetime, so that's a good feature. I talked with the seller and she was very helpful and fun to talk to. I recommend this to anyone who wants to keep up their level of magnesium in their bodies.
