It is a little smaller than the size I used to use on my jon boat, but for a kayak this size should be fine. Compared to Newport, it is more solid from the packaging. A sense of security is halfway there.

It works and does okay but it's not as good or strong as my older model. Minn kota with same thrust and specs. The older ones prop is a little bigger. Maybe that's why this one doesn't seem as strong. It works and mores me around but really had higher hopes being a lot newer model and all.

Put this on my one-man pontoon boat. It was able to push against the current on the Colorado River. I could spend hours out there, no problem.. quiet, smooth, plenty of power.

Unit appears to be well made and works great except during initial use the prop was rubbing on the motor housing, making a knocking sound and causing vibration on every rotation which also resulted in a high amperage draw. I will keep it now that I've repaired it but have a hard time recommending the unit due to poor quality control in my experience. We will see how long it lasts.
