5.0 out of 5 stars Worked great on my Infiniti Q50 4 piston calipers
This tool worked great to move the pistons in my Q50 calipers. I used this on the front 4 piston calipers. It doesn't fit the rear calipers though. I had to remove the front brake pads first of course, but then the tool fits in the calipers easily and pushes the pistons back inside the caliper in no time. Very easy to uase and a great tool to have around if you plan on doing a brake job more than once in your life. I should have bought these years ago. The tool is strong and quality built. Very happy with it.
5.0 out of 5 stars A must have for muli-piston brake calipers
I have four-piston calipers on my truck, and I struggled with pushing them back into the caliper when I didn't have this tool. I ordered this after I did my truck, but I needed to do my wife's brakes. Hers were single piston, but the tool worked like a charm and was way easier than the c clamp I had been using. I did a second set of 4 piston calipers and it works so well. It makes the process easy and almost fun. If you work on breaks, this is a must-have tool. It's economical and works great. I highly recommend it for your toolbox.
5.0 out of 5 stars An (Almost) Mechanic's best friend
I'm a diesel mechanic and a tool addict, I'll admit. I was taught the C-clamp method by my Dad, and he learned that from his Dad, and so on.This tool is like a best friend that you can pay a debt for with pizza and beer, the best friend everyone needs to have.Let's be real here, every single time you need to do anything on your vehicle at home, a tool magically disappears or is tied up somewhere else, and this is where the Lang Brake Caliper Press comes in. This tool is incredibly easy to use.Once the caliper is off the vehicle, a nice smooth ratcheting motion separates the two pads, some force is applied to one side, and the other pad uses force to depress the caliper piston.A useful note to some folks, when I got my package from Bolo, one of the pads was screwed in very tightly. One pad has normal threads and I'm pretty confident the opposite pad has reverse threads. They should both spin freely!Part two of useful notes - My fiancee's 2018 Mazda 3 Sport has an electronic parking brake, or EPB. I did an online order through Napa for her pads and it didn't mention anything about an EPB. Unfortunately the online tool suggested the wrong pads, and the gentleman at the counter never verified the correct parts. Only when I had her vehicle torn apart did I realize the rear brake pads were the wrong ones. I had to run into town again, and luckily they had the correct pads in stock and did not give me any grief about refunding the wrong pads. Also, due to her vehicle having an EPB, you need to put it in Maintenance / Service mode. These videos can be found on YT. Once taking the rear caliper off, the caliper piston will NOT depress if the vehicle is not in said mode. The ONLY caveat about this tool, is it did not fit the rear calipers on her 2018 Mazda 3. I did have to very carefully use a C-clamp for her rear brakes, Lang also does make a small brake caliper press for such an occasion.*Your vehicle may not need to be put in maintenance mode, but I might suggest researching prior to taking the brakes apart*Overall this tool is a 10/10, Quality USA made with a smooth ratcheting motion. I included those random details to hopefully prevent another person's headache out there. This tool is wonderful for front brakes!
4.0 out of 5 stars doesn't fit inside smaller 4 piston Brembo calipers
Great quality, well built, heavy duty tool mechanism and components. Push pads are massive and thick, but unfortunately oversized to fit inside the 4 piston Brembo's shown in the pics. These utilize one of the most common pad sizes: D592, same as Tesla S rear, some Jaguars , Vipers and the 2000 Ford Mustang Cobra R as well as the Ford Focus RS and others. Had to use a 14" metal chop saw to cut the pads down to size (length was too long by about 1/2" to fit inside the caliper housing to square up against the pistons. Once I cut them, tool worked great and without any effort. Finished the edges and corners, now I will have them re painted so they don't rust at the edges. Primarily going to be used on this car, so hoping if I need to use them on other vehicles that the pads are not too small now. Probably should buy a replacement set of pads so I have both. Kind of a drag, given I spent more than double the money than the offshore versions sell for as it is. Maybe I'll contact Lang and ask. High quality tool in any event.
5.0 out of 5 stars Handy Tool
This makes doing brakes a whole lot easier and for half the price of the tool trucks and big box tool stores. Solid build quality. I use this regularly and it is very robust.
5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for 2014 Ram 3500 dually.
This tool worked extremely well to compress the dual piston calipers on my 2014 Ram 3500 dually. Since the caliper opening is wider than this tool's maximum spreading ability, I simply used a 6” long piece of 1”x”2 scrap board as a space filler inside the calipers. This tool compressed the pistons evenly. It feels well made and substantial.
5.0 out of 5 stars It does not expand enough for all applications.
If you do your own disc brakes or help others, this tool is a must have. I'm still kicking myself for not getting it 50 years ago. I used the C-clamp method for all those years with little heartburn. However after bending a couple of them or wearing out the clamp swivel and having great difficulty on my latest job, I decided to get this tool. What a time and frustration saver. It worked so well! Of note with this lang tool it didn't expand enough for both new pads and rotors on the single piston calipers on my 98 dodge 2500 Cummins Ram pickup. Not a big deal as I used one of the well worn pads as a spacer to compress the piston fully back into the caliper. This tool will not do the screw in pistons on some calipers, it just expands. I chose the lang for the made in the USA rather than a foreign maker and expect it to out live the remaining brake jobs I'll be doing. Yes it costs more, but should last and in my opinion, worth the investment even for just one use. Follow the instructions, ensuring both sides of the tool use equal threads and the ratcheting mechanism needs some finger tension to work or it will ratchet till the cows come home. Again, awesome tool I wish I had for my first job. Highly recommended!
5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome for duel piston brakes
Awesome for duel piston brakes and never failed on me. Been having it for nearly 3 years and still tough!
Easy to use
Worked very well on Toyota calibre
Good item
Exelent tool
Good quality tool
Good quality tool for the money, you get what you pay for. Worked great on my mid sized GM trucks with quad piston calipers but may be a little big for a smaller size vehicle. The plates are solid and the ratchet seems to be a good quality as well, overall I am happy with the product.
I didn’t think I needed this till I used it!
This product is amazing. Worked so well and I don’t know how I did my job without it for so many years. So easy to use and so much quicker to push the piston back.
Works, but in addition to other tools.
Not bad. As I suspected, it won't fit every caliper out there, so you need to have multiple tools. It works well, though.
