5.0 out of 5 stars My dog and I love this float!

    M.M. · June 16, 2014

I purchased this float for my 40 lb. Australian Shepherd, who is recovering from a cruciate injury and needs swim therapy for her rehabilitation. The float is made from a heavy duty canvas like material, it has wire spring support along the edge. This is used when the float is deflated to twist it into a small folded package. When the float is inflated it adds support to the inflated sides. The float should be used by dogs only. My husband got in the float and the spring side bent inward, My husband later fixed the bend so now the float is only used by the dog. The bottom of the float has two holes, one at each side, which allows water to enter, so the dog is partially submerged while floating. I think this is a great design, allowing the dog to play and lay in the water, like a shallow wading pool. I use the float in our above ground pool, for Briar-Rose's therapy exercises. Briar-Rose can easily step into the float from her partially submerged ramp, however she needs assistance getting in from the water. Since the floor of the float is partially filled with water and it is floating in the water, this makes it a little unstable - which makes it the perfect therapy tool - it will not tip, but it can be slightly wobbly. When I ask my dog stand, it moves like a wobble board, causing her to use her core and leg muscles for support thereby strengthening her legs, back, and rear end. We'll also play tug, with a toy, while she's in the float, which helps strengthen all those muscles and joints. I keep Briar-Rose's nails trimmed and filed to prevent punctures. When used with supervision, the float is a great tool for aqua therapy and pool time fun.

5.0 out of 5 stars AMAZING - AMAZING - AMAZING!

I very rarely am moved enough by a product to go and write a review, but this float is absolutely amazing! I got an older pup who could swim in the pool for hours upon hours, but with age catching up to him, he isn't able to swim as long as he used to be. This float completely changed that! It's so sturdy he can walk right out onto it and he is nearly 100 pounds! It even held him and another human with extra space. My pup was instantly comfortable with it and was able to be in the pool without having to swim. I can't say enough how much I recommend this float. I got the large and it could hold 2 100 pound dogs - easy! It's also very durable with nice, strong nail-proof material.10/10 -- highly recommend!

    5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome !!!

This is the best raft/ float ever! My 15 year old pup loves it. I put it up to the ladder and he climbs in, floats around while staying cool. It allows water to come in the bottom, but stays floating. He's 80 lbs and it hold up great. I can't say enough good about it. It's thick, sturdy and large enough for him to lay down in. The BEST!

4.0 out of 5 stars Holds my 95lb shepherd mix!

    i. · September 10, 2023

This is fantastic! I got both sizes. The smaller one for my 30lb pup and the bigger one fir my 95lb.They work!.My only constructive feedback is...1 - the color. My pool is blue, as is the float. My big girl can't tell the inside of the float from the water. She wants to start on the inflates ring and I have to really work at convincing her there is a surface there to lay on.2 - I appreciate that it can fold down to a flat circle, however on both floats, on one of the long sides, the wire swoops up towards the sky. It in no way e effects functionality, but if Mazie were to choose to lay her head there it would be uncomfortable to say the least. The wire isn't broken or anything, just a gently sloping bend.3 - The reason for the 5th star deletion is the handles. My little one gets her leg stuck all the time and my big girl caught her foot up in there and it tore the fabric.I can't find any use for the handles as well so they just seem like an unnecessary hazard.Otherwise, they have held up well. They loose air incredibly slowly given all the abuse and they've never lost enough to sink 250lb me!For the price, they are better than amazing!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally! The dog can now have her own raft!!

    B. · November 19, 2013

I bought this raft and started using it in June 2013. I have a 55 lb Chocolate Lab and a 20 lb Jack Russell Terrier. They both LOVE to swim and equally love using rafts. For anyone who is in the same position, normal "human" rafts gets destroyed so easily and are not at all suited to be used by our four legged friends. This raft worked VERY well this summer! It has durable material and a wire frame that made it very sturdy to hold up each of my dogs, and at times the two of them together!I will say that by September the raft was unusable. The blue fabric in the middle started to fray and eventually the entire bottom was gone on the raft. HOWEVER, I do NOT feel that this is the fault of the product. My Chocolate Lab kept digging at the bottom to play in the water. I blame this for the cause of the fray. Also, there are two holes on the bottom on each side of the raft. I don't exactly know their purpose, but on occasion my Lab would step in the hole and stumble. She was never hurt but I'm sure it could be a concern.I did really love this product, it was worth the money and made the summer much more enjoyable with my dogs. I will certainly be buying another one to use next summer!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good idea but needs work

    M. · September 3, 2020

This was a good idea but wasn't built quite right for a big dog. The raft itself is very durable, I can't see it popping easily which was one of my worries. That was the only good feature. When my 90lb dog went to get in it the water comes in from two open spots along the bottom. It's not a defect, just the way it's designed. My dog loves water but doesn't like it when laying down. He loves a paddleboard but not this. Also the raft is designed to fold back up like one of those car windshield things. When my dog laid down the side would kinda collapse in. Then when trying to deflate it, the nozzle had gotten shifted under the fabric so it was impossible to deflate. This all happened the first day we had it. But! Swimways has AMAZING customer service that really went above and beyond! They were so kind and easy to deal with and really went out of their way to make sure I was satisfied. This product didn't work out for us but I will still be a repeat customer based on their fantastic customer service.

    Worth it

This was great for our new dog this summer. He loves to swim, but he would also enjoy hanging on his new boat. Very durable, never had to reinflate. Totally worth the price.

    Valve does NOT stay closed!

    K. · July 16, 2020

Valve does NOT stay closed! Valve seems cheap and doesn't have the interior flap that keeps some air in. Whixh is a problem, because not only does it make it tough to inflate fully, but after a 3-4mins the valve cap comes out and all the air will leak out! Not a big deal unless you're in the water...Once most of the air leaks out, it starts filling with water!Seriously, try a different floaty!Good quality on the rest of the material though!

    Works ok, but over priced!

    C. · August 17, 2024

The flat is way bigger than I thought, which is cool. The quality is okay, it's expensive for the quality. My golden retriever absolutely will not get into it.I have a much easier time getting her onto a stand up paddle board with me.

Quel merveilleux produit / Wonderful product

    R. · July 28, 2020

We have a a 72 lbs Flat Coated retriever. He destroyed several of our pool floats with his long nails. But not this one. It is built very robust with thick material covering the inflatable part and the bottom. I have good hope this one will last the whole summer!! The only negative point is that it is too high when fully inflated and the dog has trouble climbing into it. I inflate it to about 2/3 its capacity and now the dog can easily climb in. At 70 loonies it's a bit expensive but very much worth it. I recommend this product.Update: 2 months later. Float is still in one piece! A bit expensive but very much worth it in the long term. I still recommend.

Nightmare to inflate. But surprisingly super sturdy..

    S. · September 25, 2022

We had an issue with our first one. It had something wrong with the metal framing around the floaty inside the material that maintains its shape. It was bent, so when the dog got on the floaty, it folded in on her from the side.We had it replaced with a new one. This one has a valve that is not attached to the outter liner, so as you inflate it and get about halfway, the valve disappears inside and it becomes near impossible it inflate. After about an hour and alot of cursing and swearing, we finally got it inflated...The dog LOVES it! My dog weighs 100 pounds. She was on the floaty in the pool and I swam up to her floating around and rested on the edge. But when I found how little it sunk under my weight, I hopped up on it with her! I weight 235 lbs! That is a total of 335lb on this thing and it was so stable we could have lounged on there all day together! It wasn't even an issue when we would move around to change positions. We remained TOTALLY afloat!...and to think I had been worried about this thing holding a 100lb dog! 😂 It will easily hold 335lb without the slightest issue!I totally recommend this.I would also like to add, that even though this Springfloat was made for dogs, it is by far the comfiest Swimways Spring Float I have ever used! I prefer to use this one when I am by myself too! You wouldn't know it to look at its shape, but this is incredibly comfortable for people too!
