5.0 out of 5 stars Great for patio sliding door
Two of these stacked on top of a plastic film have kept the patio door safe. Now that I know (Company answered the question) they have a shelf life of 10 years or more, I am comfortable keeping several of different sizes in a tote for storm season to come around. Experimenting now for the first time on reuse -- 3 weeks and they are still drying out. Not optimistic but don't really care -- will happily trash them and use new ones next round as before if necessary. At my age I cannot handle sandbags and this product is fantastic. Even one layer of those across my doors would be impossible for me.Use: First use a few years ago I tried soaking them in bath tub for move to in-place. FAILURE on MY part. Horrible to move because of weight. Ever since I've always put in place on plastic sheet, hosed down to partially expand (enough that wind wouldn't take away), and let the rising water expand them the rest of the way.Outstanding product. Cost is reasonable, storage for future emergency use takes little space and shelf life is long, lightweight for movement, easy to expand, and most importantly, they stop water intrusion.

We need these when we get a big dumpOf rain and they work great
5.0 out of 5 stars Keeps my garage from flooding.
I went against my mama's advice and purchased a house that sits slightly below street level - so naturally every time Austin gets one of it's infamous gully-washers (in between droughts) my garage would flood out, at times the water coming close to entering the house proper, even with a grated drain in front of the garage door. These dams work VERY well - and it is such a relief to not have to anxiously monitor the situation constantly when the rains hit in the middle of the night, or worse, when I am away from home. Mine lasted about a year of brutal Texas heat and remarkable rainfall (even by Austin standards) before it was clearly going to start to lose its abilities - so it's not a permanent solution, but adequate for the reasonable cost. I am just grateful that I finally discovered this product last year - a high value for the added piece of mind it offers.**Update 3/18/2015: Second dam is functioning and holding up as well as the first**Update 8/1/2017: Still coming back for these -and they still seem to be the best solution for my particular issue - but I must add that some of them do last longer than others - some of them start leaking the interior absorbent stuff sooner than others do which is more of a manufacturing issue regarding weak seams. Some of them get desiccated within a few months, but this likely has to do with higher than usual levels of rain/severe heat/ rain/severe heat/rain. You get the picture. Even so, I haven't needed to replace more than 2-3 times a year. Still a good value from my point of view.Once these have swelled up with rainwater, don't expect to be able to roll these up and move them - they are heavy and SUPER gross to touch and just need to be left where they are until completely dry. I just leave mine in place all of the time myself - it's better that way here what with crazy Texas Hill Country weather!
4.0 out of 5 stars Soaks up water, takes a long time to dry out
Our previous order of 2 5ft dams worked well so we ordered the 10ft dam and are satisfied with its performance in soaking up water. The only issue is that it takes soooo long to dry out - we've had it on a covered porch, out of the sun, for days and it's still drying out. So the smaller the dam, the faster the dry-out time, but for our 9ft length garage door, we needed the 10ft dam.Outside of that one issue, it does the job it was created for and kept the inside fairly flood-free. Water still got in, but the dam prevented it from damaging our walls and the wood that touches the floor. Definitely worth the price since it's reusable, just hoping it dries out before the next storm.
5.0 out of 5 stars Saved the day - brilliant product
I live in a building. The sliding door in my unit was not installed correctly (eg. not to code), and the track sits below the level of the patio floor, which slopes towards a drain located one foot from the sliding door. Obviously, whomever built this place was useless.Every year when it rains heavily, water fills the track and flows right into my living room. For years I have been begging the building to do something about this, yet they continue to pretend it is not a problem, due to cost to replace the door with a correctly installed one. This, despite having replaced the floor in my unit THREE times due to flooding.I found this on Bolo for $25 (10ft), and decided to give it a shot. I asked the building to buy it for me, and (surprise) they refused. We just had a tropical storm rip through here, and this stopped water from entering the track completely. Were it not for this, I would have had an inch of water in my living room.Brilliant product. Very easy to use, reusable, and apparently safe to throw in the trash when it finally gives up the ghost. I am not sure how durable this is, but I got a couple spares just in case. I LOVE THIS THING.
5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Product!
These are fantastic!!!! I think the listing says they are good for up to 6 months of continuous use but we've had them out for a lot longer than that. We replace them about every other year. They keep the water out of our garage very well! I LOVE these water dams!
Works
Works great!
Great flood defense
This is my second purchase to soak up the rain water getting under my garage door to prevent it flooding the garage. It works perfectly but unfortunately due to the heavy rain we've had, I needed to buy a second as the first is gull to capacity. They absorb a massive amount of water and can be used over and over again. Just leave it in place and, when it dries out, it will go flat again.
Gut!
Schon im Einsatz, gutes Patent, keine großartige Installation.
