5.0 out of 5 stars Makes for such beautiful grass.
I've been using this in the fall and in the summer and it's worked so well. I see less weeds and less crab grass when I put this down.
5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect weed killer fertilizer
I have been using this weed killer fertilizer for years and it works beautiful for about 5 5 months through all the season. Then I had no problem with any kind of weeds. It's better than "Scott's" fertilizer weed killer
4.0 out of 5 stars Spectracide Weed Stop Crabgrass Preventer and Broadleaf Weed Killer...
4/18/2014See long term results below.Zeroth- this is the only crabgrass product I've found that does not include fertilizer.First- this clearly states but I missed that this includes broadleaf weed killer, i.e., it includes multiple herbicides that work differently. I only cared that it included the Dimension herbicide.Second- I think some reviewers may be confused about application. This product contains both a pre-emergent herbicide and post emergent herbicides. The former will work if this is applied any time- it just has to be watered in. The latter has to be applied to damp leaves.Third: This includes a pre-emergent herbicide, dithiopyr/Dimension, meaning it is designed to keep some noxious seeds from sprouting, particularly crabgrass. Others it prevents include many noxious grasses and some broadleafs, including dandelions. Wiith the exception of very small crabgrass, dithiopyr won't control any of these that have sprouted, even if very small). This may be applied any time, wet or dry, but won't start working until it's watered in.Fourth- it includes broadleaf weed killers. For that to work best, the vegetation must be wet so the product sticks to the leaves, and needs to not be washed off for about 24 hours. Applied correctly it will kill a lot of weeds- if they are growing at that point. A limited selection of weeds that try to sprout later *may* be controlled. If applied early spring, the pre-emergent herbicide should help control noxious grasses and a limited set of broadleaf weeds. After things grow a bit, this can provide both pre-emergent control for seeds that sprout later in the season, and post emergent control for weeds that have sprouted. Personally, I think a purely pre-emergent makes sense for early in the season, and then a purely post emergent makes sense after a goodly crop of weeds have appeared.Application note: this is a very light and fluffy product and should only be applied in dead calm- no wind.8/3/2014Summary: it appeared to control the crabgrass (but read on) upgrading to four stars.I didn't keep track of which of three lawns I applied this to. I was testing three different products- Scott's crabgrass preventer, GreenView Crabgrass control, and this product. All appeared to help keep the crabgrass at bay, and given the three lawns have differing problems, it's hard to compare.Crabgrass preventer application note: one application a year may not be enough. These products work for 2-3 months, and crabgrass in my area often sprouts after that efficacy window. Unfortunately for buyers, but fortunately for online retailers, online is often the only place to purchase these products after early spring.Note on killing *existing* crabgrass: I've found two spray products that appear to effectively kill crabgrass: Fenoxaprop (Bayer hose end sprayer) and Quinclorac (GreenLight Wipe Out). I have tried the Fenoxaprop and it appears to be working, albeit slowly (as expected). I have tried the Quinclorac, a concentrate that you mix, but the reviews are positive. The GreenLight include broadleaf weed killer as well. I've also used Scott's Weed-B-Gone crabgrass killer with methearsonate. Some people say it works after many applications, but for me the effect was minimal. Scotts does have products with Quinclorac, which should work better.
3.0 out of 5 stars Not that effective
used a spreader according to directions , A week later , can not see any difference especially more dandelions that seem to love this stuff !
5.0 out of 5 stars This works. Rescue you Kanan from crabgrass.
I used this twice this summer once in the spring and once in autumn. Both times the results were noticeable within a week. We had massive strips of crab grass and many different kinds of dandelions, weeds, etc. all of them were gone by the end of the summer.. the large crab grass strips were hit again in the fall and they’re receding right now as a matter fact they’re all turning brown. I’m looking forward to using it again in the spring. The entire lawn has recover. This is a huge area, probably 50 yards x 30 yards so when it looks good, everyone really notices it.I like ordering it from Bolo because it tends to be out at the box stores and they pull it in late August so you can’t get any for your before winter application.I can recommend this.
5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to spread and effectively kills yard weeds for up to one month (not 5 months)
I spread this using a hand-held spreader. Unlike Scots, I found it to be light weight and well separated so it did not cause the spreader to clog or to spread unevenly. The fact that it was light weight made using the hand-held spreader a breeze. I now know to prep the yard by pulling any tall weeds and mowing first. And now the yards are growing in weed free. I will say, though, that this is my third application of a weed killer. The first time I used the spray bottle (a royal pain to use, very few and very small droplets which are difficult to spread). Several weeks later, I used a Scotts turfbuilder product with weed killer and fertilizer using one of their broadcast spreader (also annoying to spread due to the product clumping, and it being difficult to see what I was putting down). I can't use that again for a month, but the weeds are back yet again. So, this time, I used the Spectracide in granule form. The grass seems to be growing in weed free. I wish that it came in bigger bags. I had to use of bag for the back yard and buy a 2nd bag for the front. I also wish that it could take out tall weeds and that it's ability to control the weeds lasted longer. I am happy to see that it does help with weeds without destroying the grass. Hopefully, we will be out of the weed growing phase here soon.
1.0 out of 5 stars This product say that it won’t destroy grass but that’s not true.
I used this product to get rid of the weeds, it did get rid of them but also destroyed my grass as you can see in the image provided. All my grass on my front lawn is destroyed now after using this product.
5.0 out of 5 stars Working great so far
I have been using this and it has been working. I used it mainly for that clover looking weed that sometimes people use to put in their salads. I also dug out some crab grass from my backyard and then put this down after, in case I missed the roots. No crab grass has come back so far.
