About this item:
For many years, asbestos was used in everyday construction, but has now been recognized as a serious health hazard. The inhaling of asbestos fibers can cause a buildup of scar-like tissue in the lungs called asbestosis, which results in the loss of lung function, often leading to death. Asbestos has also been linked to causing cancer of the lung and other diseases such as mesothelioma. With our Easy-to-Use SLGi Home Test Kit, you can sample and submit suspected asbestos-containing bulk material to be tested by our laboratory. All tests are conducted using approved methods and an analytical report will be available to view online within your requested turnaround time. Expert consultation is included to help you interpret your results! Per New York state guidelines all loose fill attic or bulk vermiculite are designated and treated as asbestos containing material. No approved analytical method is allowed and results will state that the sample is considered asbestos containing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best home testing kit available
I couldn't have asked for a better experience! This testing kit was top notch and a fraction of the price of local testing companies... and more reliable, quicker, and only slightly more expensive than the testing kits sold on homedepot's website. When we bought a house, my husband insisted on having the popcorn ceilings tested and scraped. He saw the kit on Home Depot's website and thought he'd go that route. But also he asked I contact a local company to get prices and turn around time. When I did so, the local company wanted to charge $280, and would be there in a couple days and return results within 24hr. My husband did not like this. So he decided to go with the Home Depot test. Well, problem is the Home Depot test isn't actually sold in stores. You have to pay for it to be shipped to you, or wait for it to be shipped to a local store. Then you have to pay for return shipping. And then you wait a week... or two... or three or four... or never get results at all (according to reviews on there). Thinking there had to be a better way, I came to Bolo to look for a kit.Bolo didn't disappoint. They had this asbestos testing kit in 1day results or 5day results. We opted to pay the extra for the 1day. I got the kit in two days via Bolo prime shipping. I signed up the kit on the company's website per the instructions provided in the kit. I got the provided mask and gloves on, I found a pair of safety glasses, a spray bottle, and a sharp blade and scraping tool. I sprayed a section of the ceiling with water, and let it sit for a 30minutes. And then I scraped/cut out a 1"X1" sample of the popcorn ceiling I wanted tested. I put the sample in the provided bag, box, and prepaid priority envelope. I sent the sample on Friday afternoon.By Monday afternoon I saw the results of the asbestos testing on their website...no asbestos. That's great news! But more importantly, I was happy and impressed with their easy to use kit and their quick turnaround. Thank you, Schneider labs!
5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to use, report was thorough
Very good, thorough lab report that analyzed all the layers of the tile sample I sent separately. Easy enough to use and provided useful data.
5.0 out of 5 stars An Important First Step
I wanted to remove my popcorn ceilings, but I needed to know if I could tackle this project safely myself. I was hoping I didn't have to hire a specialized company to do the job, since this would be a very expensive undertaking. I decided tolook for a do-it-yourself test kit, and after looking at various kits, I ultimately decided on this one, mainly because it included a postage-paid return label. I wanted something I could just put out in the mailbox and not have to go to the post office. The kit was simple to use with easy to follow instructions. I received the results on the promised day and was happy to learn my ceilings are asbestos free and I can safely do the removal myself.
5.0 out of 5 stars Simple, Quick, Conclusive
This is a neat little kit for testing materials in your home for Asbestos.Instructions are simple, but clear and all the necessary items you'll need (excluding tools to take samples) are included within the box.- Sample Bag- Gloves- Shipping label- Instructions (read these carefully)Make sure to take clear notes from your online account set-up so that you can include that within package when you post it. Also, follow their recommendations for taking a sample - they list what size you should try to provide and what sample types they CANNOT test.I received confirmation once the package was received (via email) and then again (4 days later) when the testing results were available. All in all, this kit is a fair deal for DIY testing. It delivers as advertised. Still, if you are doing a larger project with multiple material samples, I would still recommend contracting a professionally certified environmental consultant to take your samples and facilitate the testing.
4.0 out of 5 stars Great option for home testing
Relatively cheap alternative to having a professional come to your home. Just be aware, the date that is listed will be the shipping time. So for a 5 day test, it's really closer to 10 business days. Just be aware of you want/need a quicker turnaround. My only negative. Results were through and well produced.
5.0 out of 5 stars Worked
This was easy to use and worked well to tell me we had asbestos in our ceiling. Not the most fun product to have to buy but absolutely necessary if you have popcorn ceilings like me and want to have any work done. Would recommend to a friend.
5.0 out of 5 stars Quick, detailed report
Unfortunately Staples/UPS lost my initial sample sent with the included label, but SLGI generously sent me a replacement label. Once they received my sample, they returned a detailed report within the agreed time period.I was surprised to see that the report specifically identified each layer of my sample and provided a quantitative measure even for non-asbestos fibers they found in each layer. I was worried that they would just like pulverize and homogenize the entire sample (including the wood it was stuck to) and provided a single, unhelpful number. Instead I was pleasantly surprised by the detail of the report.
5.0 out of 5 stars Straightforward and quick results
The kit instructions were easy to follow. Using the website with the kit was easy and I had to pay a little extra for a second sample that I sent, but honestly, super easy to add a sample and sent it in the same box.I got the results really quickly, and good news, no asbestos in my 100 year old house!!!
