These diabetic needs are ideal for my 4 lb chihuahua. It’s better than spending 45$ at the pharmacy and they work just the same.

My 17 year old cat was recently diagnosed with diabetes. These syringes are great. They are so easy to use and my cat is unaware he just got a shot.

4.0 out of 5 stars 0.5 unit markings are a must have, note small manufacturing variations in the syringes

    J.K. · March 8, 2024

LATEST UPDATE JAN 2025: BEWAREThe latest boxes of syringes I received show noticeable differences in the markings of the unit lines from my previous batch of syringes. If your furry patient relies on fractional units of insulin, please take this into consideration. There are few other choices of syringes, so I am purchasing calipers going forward rather than relying on the markings. I called Ulticare customer service and they explained that they have multiple factories and that the lots can vary depending on which factory is manufacturing the syringes. I wish they had better quality control such that different factories produce the same quality syringes.2 MONTH UPDATE:I noticed there are small variations in the syringe markings and lubrication from syringe to syringe. My cat is now on tiny doses of Lantus, anywhere between 1/3 of the zero line to the full width of the zero line. Since she is on such a tiny dose, any manufacturing variations on the print of the unit markings on the syringe makes a difference. I have noticed that the bottom of the zero line is not always at the end of the barrel where the plunger stops - it varies from syringe to syringe. Some syringes have a gap between the bottom of the zero line and the end of the barrel that can be as large as half a zero mark. So if your cat or dog is on a tiny amount of insulin, make sure to take these manufacturing variations into consideration. This observation also depends on which side of the line you're looking at. The zero line is printed with a slight slope on one side of the line so the left side and the right side of the line are not perfectly aligned with the end of the barrel. I've also noticed that the amount of lubrication inside the syringes also varies.ORIGINAL REVIEW:My cat is very insulin sensitive. She's on 0.15 units (width of the zero line) to 0.25 units of Lantus. 0.25 units would be impossible to draw without the 0.5 unit markings. I use a high power magnifying glass and have a lamp shine light through the barrel for me to see the 0.25 units. The gauge and length of the needle is perfect. Best wishes to all of you here with diabetic pets. It is not easy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Edited Review: Superb Customer Service

    L.B. · September 17, 2024

EDITED: Yes, I changed my review from 1 star to 5 stars. Here's why...The company reached out to me to apologize for my experience. Then they immediately sent me a replacement box at no charge so I could test the syringes out again. It appears my original box may have contained some strange defect because as soon as I started using the new ones I didn't get a single air bubble. The new syringes are exceptionally smooth to operate and fill. I have zero air bubbles now. I am also finding that they are easier to insert into my kitty's skin. Very smooth and therefore, less discomfort for him. For that reason alone I am going to continue to use these. And because of the excellent customer service. I now know if I experience ANY issues with this brand that they will stand behind it and make it right.Let me start by saying I've been giving insulin injections to my cat for 7 months. My local Walmart was out of stock of our normal syringes so I decided to give these a try. I could not, for the life of me, get rid of the air bubbles without drastic measures. I'm in a Diabetic Cat Support Group and even posted about the issue to see if there was some trick to these syringes. Nothing I did, nothing that was suggested, was helping. Someone finally suggested I draw my dose and then draw in air (on purpose) to clear the needle...then I could flick the syringe and expel the air (most of the time). What a huge pain in the behind. It shouldn't be this difficult or time-consuming...especially since I've never experienced this issue with other brands. I'm wondering if I just got a bad batch?

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to see 1/2 unit markings! No fuss injections

Do you have a diabetic pet that requires U-100 insulin doses involving half unit increments? Do you have poor eyesight and the thought of trusting your eyes to accurately and consistently estimate half unit increments make you queasy? THEN THESE U-100 INSULIN NEEDLES ARE FOR YOU!My eyes aren’t horrible but they’re not great either, particularly in the morning. I had an extremely difficult time finding needles with half unit markings. These are more expensive than some other needles, but they allow me to accurately and consistently measure my sweat boy’s U-100 insulin dose. Good and sharp for painless, no fuss, injections.I have a Maine Coon, male, very thin … he was not overweight when he developed diabetes, and he became underweight and lost most of his muscle mass during diagnosis/finding correct dosage. Good length needle for his coat and lack of fat/muscle. If needle was too long we had occasional through-and-though injections; if too short it wouldn’t get through his coat reliably.
