Great player, especially for the price. When it arrives, just unwrap it and plug it in. No external cd software to download. Nice and compact too. Recommend.

I read some reviews that said the drive was too fragile or doesn't work properly. First of all, it is an external disk drive so yes, it will be a bit fragile. After all it is a disk drive, not a hammer. I am gentle with mine and have no problem. Secondly, it works fine for me. I plugged it into my computers USB port and no other installation was required. With that said, I am running a Dell Latitude laptop with Windows 10 and a USB 3.0 for hardware. Nothing fancy. Yes, the drive does make some noise, as expected. The drive is very compact and thin meaning there is nothing to insulate the drive motor noise. However, it is not a complaint just an observation. The ejection mechanism is simple, it just pops open after touching the eject button. It works basically the same as the built in drive on my 2012 Asus but the Dell does not have a disk drive so this fits my needs perfectly. Be advised it will play standard DVD's but not Blue ray or 4k. Yes, it loads and installs CD ROMs just fine. If you have laptop with no disk drive, this is a good value.

Having built my own PC and knowing most cases don't come with a slot for a DVD/CD drive slot it can be kind of annoying if you need one.I bought the HP External DVD/CD ROM reader/writer since I have old games and movies I want to continue using as you can't find them on modern streaming services or they are no longer being sold.I like the idea that it is external as I can also hook it up to any monitor type that has a USB plug in. Works with my PC and projector.I would recommend this to anyone who might be in a similar predicament as I was.Product aside, it did not come with any company labeled box. Arrived in a zip bag with the manufacture's sticker. Bolo did double bag it in bubble mailers, which was great to ensure the product did not arrive damaged.

We connected it into a USB port on a desktop with Windows 11 OS. It started right up and was immediately functional. Good speed when either recording on a DVD or on playback. Our setup has it on top of the computer cabinet and so it takes both hands to hold it steady while inserting or changing a disc. This is slightly inconvenient and the reason we didn't give it 5 stars. Nice little unit that solved the problem not having a built-in player in the new desktop we had purchased.

I bought a cheaper version of this HP reader. It never worked well from the start. The moment I plugged the HP into my computer it worked so easily. It slides shut and stays shut. The other one would pop open. It's nice looking. I am so pleased. It was a little more expensive but I have a HP computer and it's perfect!

I plugged it in and it went right to work! I needed this to re-download two boxes of music CD's. I tried an off brand and my HP laptop wouldn't recognize it. Very happy customer! I will update my review after I've used it a few months.

Nada más lo conecte a la lap e inmediatamente lo pudo leer, no batallo para leer los CD que tengo, que en mi caso, contienen información medica. Todavía no lo útilizo para reproducir musica o videos pero no creo batallar con este equipo.

easy to use, but slight delicate, made of very light plastic might gets damaged if mishandled, otherwise excellent product.using it since 3 months, no isssues, no errors
