5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to use
I purchased this blood type kit out of curiosity because I wasn’t sure what my blood type was. Now I know. This was easy to use and I got my results in about 5 min. It also comes with a little paper that you can laminate and save for your records. I’m so happy I know what my blood type is. Thank you

5.0 out of 5 stars As advertised
Needed to know what my blood type is for nutritional reasons...did the job.
3.0 out of 5 stars My baby is bleeding a lot.
Three years ago, when I gave birth to my daughter, I bought this blood type test kit. At that time, the blood collection didn't cause much bleeding, and the needle had a short range, making it easy to use. This time, I repurchased it to test my 8-month-old son's blood type. However, it seems that the blood collection needle might have a new supplier. After pricking my son's finger, the bleeding wouldn't stop and was hard to control. I noticed that the needle seems longer than before, causing a deeper wound. I suggest using shorter needles for blood collection. I don't highly recommend this for younger babies.
5.0 out of 5 stars Easy if you follow the instructions
I always get a bit anxious about anything that has seemingly "complex" instructions, especially when the reviews have lots of instances where things didn't go well. You can relax... this blood typing card is EASY if you follow the instructions.First, set up everything you are going to need on a table... be sure to include a couple tissues and a paper towel, and a small container of water. Next, take the cap off the lancet, BUT DON'T PUSH THE PLUNGER... just set the whole assembly aside.Second: Go wash the hand you're going to draw blood from. Make sure there are no constrictors, such as rings, on the finger you plan to use. Then warm the hand... run warm water over your fingers, hand (both sides), and wrist for about 2 minutes. Dry your hand, then swab thing "victim" finger with the provided alcohol swab.Next: Place ONE drop of water in the center of each of the rings on the Eldon card.Look at the end of the lancet, and notice it has a rectangular opening. You are going to place the lancet on your finger with the long axis of the rectangle going left to right (i.e., perpendicular to the ridges on your finger).Do NOT rub or squeeze your finger !Shake your hand down a couple of times, then place it on a hard surface, palm up. Place the tip of the lancet against an OUTER EDGE of the chosen finger (NOT in the center), and quickly and firmly press down on the plunger.REALLY, it does NOT hurt. It wasn't even as bad as getting a tiny splinter (in fact, I though the lancet had mis-fired... there was barely even a mark).Shake your hand down (one or two times) until you get a 1/8 inch diameter blood drop on the finger. Hold the finger over the round end of one of the provided sticks, and capture a drop of blood (enough to cover the entire top of the stick), then place the bloody end of the stick in the drop of water in the left-most ring on the card.Repeat this 3 more times, working left to right (do the control ring last). If you need more blood, hold your hand down for a few seconds, or even shake it once or twice (do NOT rub or squeeze your finger). When you have a bloody stick in all four rings on the card, wrap a tissue around your finger, and then finish the process...Swirl each stick in its ring until the water extends all the way out to the line. As you finish with each stick, place it on a paper towel. When all the rings have been filled, tilt the card in all 4 directions (forward; backward; left; right) to even out the liquid in the ring, then place on a FLAT surface ans allow to dry. Those rings that are going to react will usually start clumping almost immediately. After the card has (mostly) dried, compare your rings to those provided in the instructions. Any clumping (a positive reaction) should be obvious.I did this in less than 15 minutes, and confirmed, conclusively, that I have B positive blood.
4.0 out of 5 stars It works
It works but honestly the lancet pierces way deeper than it needs to. As someone afraid of pokes I absolutely wouldn't get this specific kit. I actually took the lancet apart and poked myself manually just enough to get the drop of blood and was totally fine, my parter used the lancet as directed and was sore for a while.
