5.0 out of 5 stars Low end derailleur that is surprisingly high end
It used to be that the Shimano Tourney line of components were the lowest 'named' line in Shimano's bike component hierarchy (Tourney up to XTR). But over the last decade, Shimano has gradually replaced the heavy cheap steel in the Tourney line with more aluminum and tighter tolerances. I wanted a full seven speed transmission for my small son's new bike and decided on a full seven speed back, three speed front (21 total gear combos) Tourney drivetrain. I decided to order this derailleur which works with seven or eight speed rear cassettes and figured it would come made of steel. It came and turns out be fairly light weight (290 grams) and is almost all aluminum with sealed bushings. He has been using it for three months and it has worked perfectly and precisely so far. Five stars.
5.0 out of 5 stars Lifesaver for getting my bike running
I had to replace the previous one when I got ran over. This one wasn’t identical, in fact it actually made the gear change even smoother than the one that originally came with the bike. It looks very durable and can be easily adjusted to fit your needs.
4.0 out of 5 stars TourneyTX Shimano Rear Derailleur RD-TX800 2015 Jamis Durango Sport
I purchased this Tourney Shimano Rear Derailleur RD-TX800 for a used 2015 Durango sport. I purchased the bike used and the derailleur and hanger were both severely damaged by a fall the previous owner had taken. I didn’t want to mess around with figuring out a higher-end performance part, so just went with the exact same model derailleur. It arrived well packaged and works exactly as it should. It is by no means a light or quiet product, but it will serve its purpose. I have only had it on the bike for three months and maybe 100 miles of paved trail riding. No issues at all.
5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect replacement and easy to tune
This was on my daughter's bike and it got bent. $18 for a new one? Say less!
5.0 out of 5 stars Inexpensive and very functional
I was repairing some neighborhood bikes so I bought a few of these and crossed my fingers. They work great, shift smooth and seem pretty bulletproof for the cost. Honestly, I cannot find a problem with these other than they look inexpensive. If you want some eye candy, then you need to pungle up some more money for a cooler item (I do for my bikes), but if you just need something to work well for the foreseeable future, look no further.
5.0 out of 5 stars Works perfect on a 1998 Trek 800
I added this to a vintage mountain bike in addition to new Shimano trigger shifters and a new Shimano cassette that included two extra teeth on the large cog. Everything worked out splendidly, the bike shifts perfect and the derailleur installed perfectly on the frame.
5.0 out of 5 stars Good replacement
Replaced derailer on an older Marin. Works great.
3.0 out of 5 stars Worth it, but not the greatest
Easy install. Tough to tweak. I have items on a Schwinn MtbAxum 8 speed. A few months in and medium riding, still cranking!
