5.0 out of 5 stars Works great....looks great!
Much easier to see across the room.....looks great and works great!Compared it up to old one I had, and temp & humidity numbers track almost identically. Don't care what 'official' temp is in nearest city....want to know what it is at MY house!!
5.0 out of 5 stars Location, location, location!!!!
I have been waiting for months to leave a proper review for this product.....I purchased for my 4th grader who became very interested in meteorology through his science class. I've read all of the good reviews and all of the critical reviews and I have a few usage suggestions that may make your experience with this product more positive:#1 LOCAION!!! Most complaints I have read have had to do with temperature inaccuracy with the sensor. I had early issues as well but these were user errors.....you need to fiddle with where you put the sensor to get the most accurate readings. Factors such as direct sunlight and attaching the sensor in corner areas on vinyl siding where heat can pool can cause major variances. I originally had the sensor in a high corner of a semi enclosed porch to protect from elements but mid day temp reading sky rocketed against actual temps. This was first noticed in October during those first few 50 degree days when our weather station was recording highs in the 70's. I next moved the sensor on our outdoor shed but the 1st placement caught too much direct sunlight causing flux in temp readings for the time of day the sun was direct. Finally I moved it beneath an overhang on the shed where it was shielded from direct sunlight. Since then, it's hasn't recorded false extremes. Remember if it's 75 out but you're sitting out in direct sunlight, it's going to feel a lot warmer.....same deal for the sensor, it has no idea if it's in shade or sun,#2 Fact check the readings to make sure you have it right. I have the Weatherbug app and there is a reporting weather station within 5 miles of my home. Check your highs, lows and current temps for a few days to make sure you don't need to move your sensor.#3 I'm not sure how some of the complaints occurred where some folks could not get a reading below freezing or other cold readings....again it may come back to placement but here in PA we finally had our first really bad cold snap and our station registered single digit temps in both day and night situations.#4 My son has his plugged in and displayed on his dresser.....the backlight is always on when it's plugged in so we don't have the issue of the battery option only displaying a backlight when you push a button. It would seem the 24/7 backlight would drain batteries and I understand why it's only an as needed feature on that setting. If you do plan to plug it in, be prepared for the plug it's massive! If I have one complaint it's that the plug takes up 3 spaces on his power strip. All in all it's a great product that my son has enjoyed and used for five months now and has helped maintain his interest in meteorology. We like that it displays his indoor temp as well as outdoor and that it shows a future weather graphic. He did an experiment where he recorded the unit's forecast and then wrote down the actual weather the next day and it did very well not only predicting precipitation but the type we got. It actually did better than our local weatherman a couple of times. The true test of a 5 star product for me? I bought it 5 months ago, I forget what I paid for it and my 9 year old is still very interested in it. Put the sensor in a place where it can do its job and this product will serve you well.
5.0 out of 5 stars Very nice weather station!
The weather station is exactly what I expected. The date and time, indoor/outdoor temps, and humidity displays are clearly visible and accurate. I wanted an outlet powered weather station with battery backup, so this one is perfect. Nice product!
4.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful and Informative Weather Station with a Good Display
I needed a weather station that looked nice, was easy to read, and had enough data to make informed decisions about adjusting home humidifiers and making clothing decisions before going outside. This device does all that. This model gives you everything a regular person could need:• Temperature and humidity outside• Temperature and humidity inside• Calendar date• Current time• Animated graphic of current weather (cute)— HUMIDITY —Many people don't care too much about indoor humidity and don't realize it's very important for a lot of things. 50% is the optimal humidity for most homes. Too high and you could be growing mold in your house, too low and your skin will crack and bleed during the winter. The bottom right of the display tells you where your humidity should be. If it's too low, you should consider buying a humidifier; if it's too high, you may want a dehumidifier. Constant humidity is important if you have wooden musical instruments in the house. It's also important if you have houseplants; they like to have high humidity to grow well. 45-55% indoor humidity is the optimum range for most situations.— SCREEN —My one-star deduction is because of the screen. The viewing angle is not that great. If I look at it straight on, the top is dimmer than the bottom [see photos]. If I view it slightly from above (looking down at it) the lighting is even. This means that when you are putting it on a wall, it should be lower than eye level to read clearly. This can be annoying if you wish to hang it higher than eye level. The screen could also be slightly brighter because it can be harder to read during the daytime; at nighttime it's fine. The LED display has three modes: bright, dim, off. I set mine to bright because you can barely see it when it's dim.— POWER OPTIONS —This station can be plugged in using AC power, and/or use three AAA batteries. If you run the station on batteries the display only lights up for 10 seconds when you press a button. I suggest you leave it plugged in so that the display is always lit. With the batteries as a backup, the manual says good batteries should last one year. The remote sensor uses two AA batteries, and should be placed outside in an area where it doesn't come in direct contact with the elements; you want it in the open but out of the way of rain or snow to prevent potential damage to it.— WALL MOUNTING —There are no screws provided to hang the station or the sensor, you will have to buy these separately if you want to mount it on a wall.— SUMMARY —I like this weather station. It is pricier than others, but for the cost, you get a lot more: color LED display with lots of data, AC/battery options, and separate outdoor monitor. Recommended.
5.0 out of 5 stars Good with minor caveat
This is ultimately a good unit. The outdoor sensor has displayed exceptional accuracy so far, with temps and humidity being within a fraction of a degree (temp) or a few % (humidity) of my local station. The indoor unit is nice looking, but is really meant to sit on a surface like a picture frame. You can of course wall hang it (my original intention) but the cord dangling down looks awful.I have two minor gripes. The first is that, in my chosen location, I do not get a good enough atomic clock signal to sync, and so have to manually set the time. This is more a product of my location and not the fault of the device. My second gripe involves the humidity display on the unit. It is smaller than the temp reading, and in a deep shade of blue. For people with older eyes it can sometimes be more difficult to read from across the room, but isn’t too bad.All in all I’m very pleased for the money.
Bonito
Me gustó este articulo, muy visible, pero solo de frente. Por los costados no se ve. Por la noche tengo que apagar la pantalla pues está muy iluminada. En general, está bien y es muy exacto.
Quite reliable product
The product is quite accurate within reasonable limits .You have to invest in a step down adaptor though at a quite high price.
Weather at a glance.
Finally; a weather station with USB power and battery back up. Very happy with my purchase because the universal USB power means I don't need to find a power converter to plug into the Australian electricity system. I don't need to change batteries constantly and lose the settings. Weather at a glance.
