5.0 out of 5 stars THIS IS LONG – DE RAZOR OVERVIEW /3 HANDLE COMPARISONS/4 BLADE COMPARISONS - REVIEW
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN –IN REGARD TO DE RAZOR SHAVING IN GENERALI love seeing all the helpful reviews as it is absolutely a tidbit intimidating starting out. Women, I think, get a bit more worried as we have so much more real estate and curvy areas (for the guys who also shave all the bits, this is for you too, of course). HOWEVER, it would seem that many women only shave a few (or couple??) times a week (finding this out in my early 20’s, blew my mind) and I only found one review in all my reading that was written by someone who like me…absolutely abhors body hair. I shave every day, and have done so since I started shaving at 12 or something thereabouts. Now, it is important to keep in mind that everyone’s bodies are different. Skin types and…how your skin sits against your body, vary. For reference, I am 5’2 and 99.6 lbs with an athletic build. When I watched videos showing how women safely shaved their armpits I was confused because their skin laid flat with their arms upraised. I have a very deep indent when my arm raises, many angular points, so I had to figure out my own tactics. Shaving my calves was also a tiny learning curve because of grazing against the muscle line and not having a pivoting head. I would also NOT describe myself as having sensitive skin. I keep reading about people switching their blades every few shaves!? I used Schick men’s razors until I was probably 20 then switched to Harry’s. I replaced my blades every two months or so. Considering the cost as well as wanting something I could easily toss in my hiking pack or keep in a go-bag. (Yes, I will shave if on an extended hike (+4 days)) provided I find a water source). So, I wanted to write the review for the folks like me out there, and provide what answers I can.In short, maintain a 45 degree angle (like you have probably always done), do not press down, let the weight of the handle do the work, use short and slow gentle strokes when starting out (I absolutely am back to doing long strokes on my legs now that I am confident *not cocky*), watch some videos, pay attention to the curves of your body as well as to how your hair grows, never slide the blade horizontally, don’t slide your finger along the sharp part because..duh. The handle is literally made to protect you; it is not just the blade against your skin as there is a guard. When installing the blade, hold it by the dull sides (again, common sense but still), and be mindful. Now, I am pretty much recommending this to EVERYONE. However, please keep in mind that you do need to be mindful. If you are one of those people (ladies and fellas both) who can be an airhead (you know who you are, and there is nothing wrong with your quirk) then this is perhaps not for you. Like any instrument that can pose a risk, take care. I turned off the shower my first few times while shaving and used shaving cream so I could pay close attention. By week -2- I was shaving as I always have and am getting quicker. The only nick I really got was from a compression mark from socks and the blade (feather) bumbling over it in my first week. Besides that, it has just been a matter of being mindful. Brand new and aged blades can also require some more focus.Don’t be afraid to give it a shot, be mindful and take time for yourself. Enjoy!IN REGARD TO HANDLES I love my Weishi handle. I have now had the opportunity to test this against two other handles and I am staying firm. MY ONLY COMPLAINT is that the attractive anodized coating has come off the head of my razor in entirety and looks less snazzy which is just a bit disappointing. If Weishi reads this and wants to comment, I would be interested as to why this happened. Before my Weishi, my husband allowed me to use his Merkur 34C handle to see if I really wanted to make the switch and I definitely prefer my Weishi. The Merkur Handle has a classic vertical lines design on the handle and a classic spin top. The longer handle on the Weishi Handle is fantastic, and it is far grippier. IN FACT, SUBSTANTIALLY MORE GRIPPY. This matters greatly as some of those artistic and classical looking razors are aesthetically pleasing but I rather not risk a slip and wound myself for no reason. The longer Weishi handle is great for getting the correct balance while doing my legs and not applying too much pressure. In lieu of my switch my husband tested the Shaving Revolution Handle. It is both longer and heavier than the Weishi. While I enjoyed the added weight I found that the even longer handle made me wary when doing sensitive areas and was concerned about bumping the end of the handle, causing an incident. The head is almost identical to the weishi and I liked it, I just prefer more of a paring knife for delicate work than a longer chef blade. The Weishi handle is a perfect length balance between the classic short handle and the very long handle of the Shaving Revolution. This is purely personal though, my husband loves it.IN REGARD TO BLADESAs stated above we all have different skin. Please be careful as I have seen people have all sorts of different responses to different blades. Don’t be afraid to get a sample pack, it is cheap. Also, as stated above, I was used to being cheap and making my blades last what is probably a questionable amount of time…I learned the uncomfortable way that this does not fly with DE blades. I went two weeks and was getting nicked. Dubious, I went to my husband who proceeded to be somewhat mortified and tell me that I need to change my blade every week. My skin was grateful for the correction…I doubt there will be many of you who shave as much as I do, but to translate, change your blade every 5 to 7 uses at most apparently…haha. In the last month I have tested the Weishi Blades, Shaving Revolution Blades, FeatherLite Blades, and Derby Blades. My first blade was the FeatherLite which are renowned for being sharp. This was maybe not the best place to start but it was fine. Maybe that is why I got the nick over the compression sock dent? I will say my husband had an unpleasant time using this blade on his face, and even my tough skin got a bit dry in a few spots. He shaved half of his face with the Featherlite and half with a Derby. The difference was significant. It looked deeply uncomfortable at the very least. I mean, really uncomfortable. Poor guy. We both loathed the Shaving Revolution Blades, they felt weak and dull. The Weishi Blades were a step up from the Shaving Revolution Blades and probably a safe place to start but nothing to rave about. Again though, I think Weishi chose a safe start so I understand. Now, the Derby Blades were an experiment that my husband ordered as they are supposed to be a bit thicker and sturdier. We both love these. The other side of his face was gorgeous and unblemished. I am able to be far quicker with these blades as they feel more firm. I LOVE my Derby Blades and will probably stick with them for life. Go experiment; just always use a bit of caution with a new blade.Good luck, and happy shaving
5.0 out of 5 stars It’s great!
I had been curious about making the switch for a long time now but due to having MS and numbness in my fingertips, I hesitated since I didn’t want to cut myself. I continued to read more and more about it before finally buying a men’s handle since I figured either I could use it or my husband could. Now I’m a full time safety razor user and my husband is still pretty stuck on his Gillette blades out of the ease of use. Let me just say how satisfying it is to have a pack of 50 blades that I got for ten bucks at my disposal whenever I start feeling like the blade it getting dull. There’s a learning curve like there was when using disposable blades but the shave is better and it’s significantly cheaper. I always thought that there must be a reason why people usually fork out as much as they do for disposables. There isn’t. There simply isn’t and I briefly held my head in shame as someone who despises advertising yet I fell for what feels like buying into the ultimate gimmick on society in the USA. Seriously. LolI typically shave every other day although I shave my armpits daily and it definitely took about a week to get used to how to hold the handle and how to shave with the new apparatus I now love. When I finally tried it, I was so proud that I gave it a go and I told everyone I spoke with. I felt like I figured out this huge secret that could save people so much money yet everyone just kind of brushed it off and said they didn’t mind.If you’re here, you now know and yes, you definitely should. This handle, btw, is fantastic. I’ve had other rainbow chrome (however you want to call it) metals that have rusted pretty easily or faded with time. This handle remains perfect months after purchase and repeated use. Other reviews have made me not try the blades that came with it but I’m sure you’ve noticed that there’s all sorts out there to try instead. The first pack I got I was a fan of so I haven’t tried others.I’ll also add that my skin is really sensitive and part of how I got here is because of the razor bumbs I’d often end up with from using a dull blade. I had also recently read something saying that people should replace their blades weekly which made me gasp. Lol.Now I gladly replace my blades weekly and I can use the savings of cash on other things. Just watch a video or two! I did and it’s even easier than what most I watched fleshed out. Oh, and I regularly use conditioner to shave. It just makes sense to me and my skin is always smooth.
4.0 out of 5 stars First safety razor
The media could not be loaded. I’ve been using this razor for 2 years now I think and it still shaves the same reallly close and helps with sensitive skin (I have severe eczema) just make sure u prep before hand and moisturize especially for legs, arms, torso…etc.tbh I suggest women start using safety razors because they shave more often in other places. Whole lot more efficient when you learn how to correctly use it, plus it’s environmentally friendly instead of constantly replacing plastic 3 -5 bladed cartridges or wand ingrown hair/razor burn inducers that are just gonna end up in a landfill somewhere, also replacing razors is really cheap in the long run you could literally get like 20 packs of razors 5 in each or more under 15$, that’ll last you months!.The only reason I put 4 stars is because it didn’t come with a holder so you gotta buy that separate to store your razor. And the razor as you can see kinda sits out on the outside edges I don’t like that just a personal preference so I’ll most likely be buying a new one soon. But overall for 2 years great choice in durability if you can set aside your preferencesP.s the earlier message goes for men to..just go back to the original shaving routine throw away new plastic and electric razors, your bank account and skin will thank you in the long run.
Perfect
Alright, so I will be detailed.#1 get the Astra blades for this razor, they are absolutely amazing value for money!#2 Understand that the use of safety razor actually requires skill. It will take you 4 shaves before you develop muscle memory...do not overthink, just shave.#3 If you use 4 blade disposable razors in between you WILL have to re-learn. It just works like that. The engineering that went into making this thing was brilliant. The safety razors should all function like this. The angle that is created then the wings close down on the blade is PERFECT for shaving without irritation. The cleaning is a breeze. It leaves me with 0 cuts.PERFECT SHAVE 5-8min#1 Apply your shaving cream (Gillete is actually NOT ideal)#2 Use downstroke to cut down the long hair. Be careful and do not rush.#3 Clean your blade in between under running water.#4 Apply the shaving oil. Use the one that contains castor oil. Shaving oil makes ALL the difference.#5 Apply small amount of your shaving cream again.#6 Use the up stroke to clean up and get a close shave.#7 Always shave your stache first while the blade is still very sharp.#8 Slap your fav cologneEnjoy it. It's the way real men shave.I got it for my grandfather as well, he is 90 years old...He looked at it for 10 minutes and examined every milimeter of it. He went and shaved with it and said NOTHING. Which means it was perfect!

Beautiful Tool That Perfectly Suits My Needs
Received this beautiful razor yesterday and it actually surpassed my expectations. The pictures in the listing really didn’t do it justice! It feels solid in hand, has a great handle length for use in the shower and it kept the blade steadily in place resulting in an easy, smooth shave. I used an Astra Superior Premium Platinum blade and was very happy with the result. I’m very pleased to be able to kick the expensive and wasteful plastic cartridge razor habit with the bonus of having such a beautiful tool that is so easy to use. I really hope it stands the test of time. Being my first DE razor I have no idea how it compares to any of the others out there, but if it continues to perform this well, I likely won’t ever feel the need to shell out the cash for anything more expensive.
Buen producto
Es una excelente opción para depilar sin estar comprando rastrillos de plástico, no hay mayor dificultad en hacerlo con esto, cumple su función muy bien, y el color está hermoso
Great razor - could be cheaper.
Not a very aggressive razor and gives clean shave in two passes. Has a nice even balance and the long handle is comfortable to hold. It takes a.few.shaves to get used to the weight if you are moving from.a.cartridge shaving system. The finish and fit is top notch and comparable to Parker and Mercur for a.fraction of the price. I use a Wilkinson's sword feather blade and it lasts 4 to 5 shaves easily. I felt the pricing was.a.bit high as similar product was available for far lesser on another chinese product portal. Must buy if you enjoy wet shaving.
