A family member has a late model Toyota with the cartridge-style oil filters. I'm not a big fan of them-- I prefer the traditional steel-can oil filters-- but the rest of the car is pretty good so who am I to complain?I'm the one that ends up changing the oil on this car, and the first time I did it I failed to realize that I needed a special tool for the filter housing. I ALMOST attacked the housing with a set of Channellock pliers, but the idea of having to find a replacement housing at 4PM on a Saturday cooled me off.Instead, I bought the right tool for the job. This housing socket is well machined and fits the housing quite tightly. A good thing, because it was a real fight to get that housing off the first time I did it (whoever worked on the car before me was a bit enthusiastic when they tightened it up).I'll only use this tool a couple of times a year, but it wasn't very expensive and it prevents damage to the filter housing so I'm OK with it. It worked correctly the first time, the fit and finish is impressive for the price, and it looks like it will last forever.

First, the packaging this came in was a huge surprise. Very nicely boxed. Gee can you give awards for presentation when it comes to filter wrenches? Anyway, wrench itself is seriously well made. The pictures do not do it justice. It is exactly as you would imagine a wrench must be made. Fit was perfect (a bit snug which is what you want). And it got the job done! Nothing else I tried worked. This was outstanding and took the filter housing right off (with Toyota Camry's the filter is a drop-in). Used it to snug the housing back on when done. HIGHLY recommend this wrench and brand. Will definitely purchase when I need it for my other cards. Worth the price in time saved.

First, yeah it's kinda pricey but it's definitely not some garbage tool. It looks and feels like a quality piece. Second, this thing fit my 09 & 11 RAV4 4 cylinders and my '16 Sienna 6 cylinder filters like a glove. Listen, like a glove that OJ'd be jealous! The fit is so perfect that you'll want to twist you ratchet back just a little bit to remove this thing. It's got a laser quality fit, zero damage to my filter caps, and with a wipe every oil change, looks like I bought it yesterday. This skips using the ears/fins of the filter body completely and grabs the entire bottom of the filter body to twist off. Again, pricey but I'm changing oil every 5k, three cars, and don't want to buy over & over.

Have used this multiple times on my 2014 Toyota Camry after the dealer over-tightened my oil canister. Has held up amazing and takes almost nothing to loosen the filter. Way better than any of the other cheap Toyota oil filter wrenches which did not work on my filter, even with a breaker bar. Absolutely worth the money. Highly recommend.

If your like me and you change the oil in your car or truck you have probably bought some of the cheap plastic (some of thin aluminum) oil filter wrenches that look in shape and size similar to this one.Most of the time when you use the ones that are made of plastic if the oil filter is even remotely tight the wrench will just spin and not loosen the oil filter, I've had this problem so many times. I have with the standard oil filter bought the type that look like pliers, they work great. But when you have a vehicle with a cannister style filter and the cannister is made of plastic you can't use the plier type for it would crack, scar or break the cannister. This wrench by Motivx is CNC machined to tight tolerances and fits snugly so their will be no slipping, its the best tool I've seen on the market.One last thing watch out for the tools that have slots cut in them as they will crack or break the tabs/wings on the cannister, I found this out the hard way.Good tool and made in the USA, give it a try.

Very nice tool, but expensive, so I'll say if you want high quality, you need to spend the money. Cheaper versions will do the job also.
Excellent quality
I use this for our 2013 Rav4 with the 2AR-FE and it fits perfectly, nice and snug. I ended up having to use a breaker bar to get my housing loose courtesy of the dealer overtightening the housing last time the oil was changed. This stood up just fine and didn't slip one bit on the housing. Worth the price.

I bought this after going through three cast aluminum adapters over 2 years. I have 2 toyotas, one I bought used and has a sticky oil filter cover. I had to use a breaker bar to release the seized filter cap and i almost bent the breaker bar before it popped loose. I thought the adapter broke like all the prior ones I had, but this works! If you do your own maintenance, definitely invest in this rather than going through the misery of replacing damged parts. Its expensive, but well worth the money! So happy with this purchase for all the trouble it saved me from. This is a machined steel piece, not a cast aluminum, and it fits PERFECTLY into both my new and older Toyotas.
