5.0 out of 5 stars A True Review With No Bias
I owned an older pair of Bushnell binoculars that were 8x23 and made back in the late 80's and early 90's. They were around 30 years old and still worked well, but I wanted something with a little more magnification. So I began looking for a new pair and I read hundreds of reviews and watched comparison videos of just about every brand you can imagine. My budget is much bigger these days, then it was back then, so I would not hesitate to buy a $200 or $300 pair if I thought they would really impact my viewing in some way. I'm not a bird watcher and I use them mainly when traveling. Sometimes I'll see something way off in the distance and want to get a closer look. I also fish a lot and use them when boating on the river. If I see a deer or some other animal as I'm boating, I'll stop and pull them out to see them closer and just enjoy nature. That being said, I'm not trying to see the details of every little tail feather of a rare bird. So for me, the quality difference between a $300 pair of binoculars and this pair, was not big enough for me to justify the extra expense. I purchased these for $79.05 and I got 5% back by using my Prime card. I immediately took them down to the river and had my old ones in one hand and these in the other. I looked across the river and focused on a log that had washed up on the bank, about 200 yards away. Comparing these to the 8x23, the log looked much closer. Also, with the image was much brighter and I realize that is because the 42 lets in a lot more light than the 23 size binocs. I was actually amazed at how crystal clear these new 10x42's are! I never realized how dark the 8x23 was all those years, until I looked through the new ones. Now about the build quality for those that are interested. These are superb! They are heavier than my old ones, but again, that is to be expected as they are bigger. They are still small enough to tuck away in a backpack or boat storage compartment without any fuss. Also, the rubberized material on the outside has a very nice feel to it and will help cushion these from any type of shock, should you drop them. I also would imagine that if your a hunter or hiker and you get caught in the rain, the rubber type coating on the outside will help you keep a nice grip and won't be slippery. They honestly feel like they will last me another 30 years, like the last pair. Longer if you don't abuse them. Also, the caps/lens covers on the front of them are attached to the binocs, so you won't lose them. I wish the back ones were as well, but they are attached to each other, so when you take the front caps off, they are easier to keep track of. Even the caps are also thick rubber material well made. They should last the life of the binocs easily. It comes with a carrying case with a shoulder strap attached and inside the case, there is another strap that attaches to the binocs and has a fake leather pad that rests on your neck.I'm not much on the straps, the one on the case itself was very big, although you can adjust it down. It was permanently attached by little plastic buckles on wither side of the case, so I just cut the strap off and left the little buckles on, in case I ever want to get a strap in the future. This is a personal preference, you may like having the strap to hang over your shoulder. I also don't like the neck strap, but it's just a personal preference as I don't wear them on me. It felt fine and comfortable on my neck if you like it that way, but if I'm being honest, if your a person that will wear these all day, I would upgrade that strap to something with a more softer pad on the back of your neck.Last but not least, the binoc case also has a large belt loop on the back, so you could hang it off your belt, but I would not want that weight hanging off my hip. If your traveling or hiking, I'd just use a neck strap but again, find one that is more comfortable.Hope you enjoy these if you get them. They are very clear, very well made and the image is nice and bright. The glare from the sun was not bad at all. They should last you a couple decades if you don't abuse them.
5.0 out of 5 stars Nice binoculars
Fair price, excellent qualityUsing yo watch sea life from shore
5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for smaller hands
This is our second pair of Bushnell binoculars. Our original pair is over 25 years old, and is a very heavy marine binocular. My hands just got so they couldn't use the heavy ones for more than a few minutes without aching and shaking. These compact H2O Xtreme 10 x 42 binoculars are perfect for me. I'm not a techie binocular or camera person, so I can't speak to the specs, but for my casual use, they are great. They focus well, are small enough to fit in my back pack, have attached lens covers for front and back openings, and stay steady in my small hands. I use them to view marine life and boats from our home about 1/4 mile from the ocean, and wow, can I pick up some detail with these. They weigh almost two pounds, so they're not particularly light weight, but the trade off is such superb viewing that it's worth it.My only dislike is the bulky and not very comfortable neck strap that Bushnell includes with the binoculars. I swapped it out with a simple OP TECH strap purchased on Bolo and am very pleased with it.For the price, these are a high quality binocular. Glad I got them.
4.0 out of 5 stars Binoculars
Works fine
5.0 out of 5 stars Great for my uses
Needed a solid pair of binoculars for hunting, nature watching, other general uses. Optics are very clear, easy adjustments, not very heavy. Awesome value for the money.
5.0 out of 5 stars More than your money's worth
We were looking to replace the decades old binoculars my wife and I had used with something better. I am an avid photographer and on our outings and trips I often will have a long focal length lens on my camera so that allows me to see objects at a good distance. My wife, though she will also have a camera with her will have the binoculars hanging around her neck. The old pair worked respectably but by modern standard of optical clarity and brightness were not the best.We could have paid a lot more for the two pair of the Bear Grylls but above some price level you're now paying for a status name and though one might argue that the more expensive ones are better, the degree of how so does not match the increase in price. So what do we get with these? More compact yet more powerful than our old ones. Brighter optics as well as some increase in magnification. 10x vs. 7x of our old ones and 42mm vs. 35mm of our old ones. That helps in lower light viewing conditions and yes, when we're out in the early morning hours looking for wildlife, that extra light gain is valuable.Rubberized surface for good grip and damage protection. Waterproof and fogproof. No, we're not going to take them into the swimming pool but the weather can be wet sometimes. Moving from the colder, dryer air of the cruise ship cabin to the outside warmer and humid balcony, you don't want to wait an hour for the fog to dissipate from the lenses, inside and out. They're more compact being the roof prism design and thus easier to slip down into a camera bag or other carry or even in a large jacket pocket.Closer minimum focusing distance allows us to watch birds close up on our feeder out in the back garden at half the distance our old ones required to focus. As to the optical quality, I have never looked through the lens of a thousand dollar pair of binoculars but the image through these is bright and clear and with good color contrast and definition, I can make out good small detail at a greater distance. All for half the price of some of the other popular brands and models.
Ótimo produto
Produto muito bom, ótimo acabamento!
Great binos
Compact, rugged and great views.
Geht so
Very compact, light and steady to hold.
The Bushnell H20 Xtreme is a beautiful well-made pair of binoculars giving a nice crisp view. It's small, light and compact which make it easy to hold steady. I am very happy with it since there is no lugging around like my old heavy pair which I gave away. It deserves all the 5 stars. The pouch though should have been a bit larger to give more room for the strap, this pouch I would only give 3 stars, but it has made up for what's inside! Many thanks BushnellFinally, I think I got the strap and ocular lens cover correctly attached to the binoculars. It was a bit of a fiddle, since I could not find any instructions included to do so.
Good product
The X'treme is an upgraded version of the H2O with fully multicoated lens. What I like about it is its solid feel all round and is very well made. But more importantly is its focusing wheel which is light and smooth which makes it a pleasure to use. Lastly, not forgetting its excellent optics. There is nothing to complain about.
