5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!!! One small flaw
I have been having problems with my hips and sciatica.. I put these on and felt INSTANT RELIEF!!!In 3 days my anxiety from walking and shooting pain has dropped 80 percent!I have very muscular legs and my hip has been out of place.. with therapy and chiropractic added for my rehab..These compression shorts have been a game changer for my recovery. Support walking up and down stairs is PHENOMENAL.ONE complaint is there is not much fabric pouch for genitals and have been uncomfortable regarding THAT ... But the pros definitely outweigh the cons of too tight in the groin ..I'll be buying another pair or two .. for washing rotation
5.0 out of 5 stars Good, Comfortable Compression for Medical or Athletic Use
I had never heard of the McDavid brand in my life, but have been really impressed with these. I'm a guy and am an avid runner and gymrat with loads of experience in using compression garments both for recovery and for coldweather running. I love these McDavids for several reasons.First off, I'm using these for a medical purpose after minor hip surgery complications. My ortho surgeon wanted me in compression shorts to prevent additional swelling around my incisions. The McDavids actually give you enough squeeze for that purpose, yet at the same time are very comfortable. I'm wearing them 24/7 both to bed and under my work clothes with no issues. With other compression stuff (...looking at you, 2XU) the waist is low-rise, and the meager space allocated for your junk - makes for an uncomfortable fit. These strike a great balance in compression and yet are cut pretty comfortably for guys. Also, the rise is higher up and is far more comfortable in my opinion. They're super thick and durable feeling, and in fact most of the panels are double-fabric. The crotch portion is single ply, which I actually think is brilliant b/c of comfort reasons above, not to mention ventilation. I even like the colors, where they tipped the black ones with red highlights and the white ones with gray highlights. The other key things that should be obvious: (1) most people don't wear them tight enough to get much benefit and (2) the compression you get will depend greatly on what size you order. I'm 6'2", 33 waist, muscular build and the mediums fit well without sacrificing comfort. If I were desperate for very high compression, I could move down to the small, but they'd be far less comfortable. All I'm saying is don't be nonsensical and whine about lack of compression when you order a 2XL for your 28" waist.Overall a great product, and these were so good I ordered a second pair. Oh and be aware, you may see WILD swings in price between the 2 colors and between sizes. My white mediums were almost twice the price of my black mediums. Can't wait to use these in the gym and not just on crutches.
4.0 out of 5 stars Decent shorts
These shorts give me decent hip support as I recover from a hip strain
5.0 out of 5 stars Good compression
Fit great, compression keeps muscles warm.
1.0 out of 5 stars Defective seam
My first pair of white McDavid cross compression shorts has served me well for about 3 years and are still doing the job. I wear them for softball. They fit well and really provide good support to my hamstrings.I wanted a second pair, and based on experience, I was willing to pay the kind of steep price of $47 for it. I ordered it in black this time, same size (I'm still the same size), and the item arrived a few days later. I received them 3 days ago and wore them for the first time yesterday at my game. After about an hour, one seam ripped out completely leaving a gaping hole. They are unusable now. The sewing must be defective. I called customer support for the company and waited on hold for a very long time. I finally chose the option to leave a message and request a call back. So far, there has been no response. I will continue to reach out to them and update my review if the situation changes.Update May 24, 2022. The supplier, United Sports Brands, responded and shipped me a new compression short, same size, etc. I could see immediately that the middle seam was not sewn properly. I tried them on, and the seam immediately ripped out, just like the first pair. I contacted United Sports Brands again. I asked if they were receiving similar complaints on the product and they said "no". Note there are several more reviews citing exactly the same defect. They said they would ship another product if they could, but that their supply ran out and it could be months before they get more supply.I just requested my refund. Although this used to be a good product a couple years ago, I advise going with another brand from now on.
3.0 out of 5 stars Open box
These came in a crushed and open box but sold as new. They appear to be used
5.0 out of 5 stars True compression, not the flimsy type. Great for recovery.
I am truly amazed by these. I am a runner and have been having issues with throcanteric bursitis lately, quite painful. Let me me start by saying these will not perform a miracle, they will not magically heal bursitis but they will help a great deal with the pain allowing you to keep running (albeit at a slower pace ) while you recover. They have good compression, the real type designed to help recovery, not the type other fitness shorts advertise. I researched quite a bit before deciding to buy these, I was looking for the real deal not another fitness shorts. The Bioskin compression shorts are great too, but they cost twice as much as these. These have a great price and they deliver. I don't think they will enhance your performance, but as I said, for recovery they work great. I found them to be true to size, I am 4ft11, 119lb, 28in waist and 36in hips - the small size fits perfectly. I also washed it in the washing machine, in the delicate setting and cool water. It came out with no damage at all. I am hanging it to dry, I am guessing dryer would cause damage. The only downside I found was that the shorts get a bit warm, but that's the nature of the material you need for compression. I chose sweat over pain. After a 5k / 3.1 run pretty much pain free I just ordered another one!
Great fit
I ordered the 34-38 waist size. My waist is 38". The fit was perfect. Recommended.
Excellent
A great product, and better than expected. By far and away the best, most comfortable and most supportive compression short I've had.
Génial
Super article, très efficace.
Hip
Perfect fit must have as a athlete with hip problems
First-class product
These are just what I need as I have had a lot thigh injuries of late. They fully support my hips and thighs and give me added confidence in my Pilates and Yoga classes. I do not need to wear a thigh support to give me the confidence that these give me. Although tight, they are very comfortable and once I've worn them for a short while I don't know I've got them on they are so re-assuring and comfortable.
